I don't deny that there are two different programs... I mean, if you wrote them, you'd know it ... but there doesn't seem to be two different programs available at the moment.I admit that I thought the "Origin Generator" and "Originator" were one and the same; maybe JoeRock thought that too and replaced one with the other? (As an aside, in the new Originator download, the updated origin data files are not in /OriginData but in the "root" of the zip. Don't they have to go in the OriginData folder to be used?)

Hmm.. the files should have gone into the /OriginData definitely.. I'll have to check on that.. I may have goofed up when I made the last changes... and I will have to supply a link to the old program that doesn't change the names...
Go Bills! hey.. I'm just an hour or so east from you!

When you say format the height column, in which way do i format it? There are several options to format such as "auto format" , "cell" ect? Sorry for the stupid question but I dont want to screw this up.

OK, I just tried this on a test league and I got a runtime error 62 "input past end of file".
EDIT: I was using CBL rosters as my test and that may be why that happend. I re-did the the test with another league (Career 2004 league" and it worked great. My only other question is this, why do we need to run this program after every season? My goal is to have SOME "ethical" players but not alot. I am assuming that this program (OOTP Originator) needs to be ran after evey season because the OOTP game takes over the names and origins after the season ends... (?) In other words, in order to achieve my goal I will have to run this utility after every season? Last edited by Deitrus; 07-22-2004 at 08:55 PM. |

no.. OOTP does not take over the names or origins.. but it does create new players with new default origins. Run the program again to modify the new players.. it will not change the players that were already in the league the previous season..
you can actually run the program anytime after the rookies are created. When did you download the program? I updated a new version that corrected the problem with origin lengths that was causing a "input past end of file" errors. Also, feel free to send me your csv file after it is freshly exported from OOTP. ptbl@pt-sports.com HINT; never open the csv file in Excel or another spreadsheet program... if you need to , open it in notepad or something..

Just wanted to say this is a fantastic program.
With just a couple of hours work, I was able to cobble together a European version and can now create tons of leagues to my own specifications! Thanks for all your hard work, davwms!!!! |

...but if you don't open the csv in excel, you don't need to worry about this. Just open in notepad instead. You can still find-replace if needed...

OK, another question(s).
If I clicked the option "Fill Double A with fictional players"......does the Origin Generator do these as well? For example, I just created my new league and I usually click the option "Fill Double A with fictional players". Second question.Still talking about the "Fill Double A with fictional players" option, are these the players that the origin generator changes or are there different changes the the utility changes? Thanks again and thank you for an awesome utility. |

*Back-up your league. (Just in case) *Unzip the file into the league folder you want to use it on, let's say you create a league called "test" you want to use the originator on, you unzip the originator into the test.lg folder inside your OOTP folder. *Open up your game, go to league set up > Misc Set up and click "export player general info to CSV." *Quit the game - close it entirely. *Using my computer or windows explorer or whatever you choose, go back to your "test.lg" folder inside the OOTP folder, and open it up. You should see your player_general CSV file in there. Just make sure it's there, no need to open it. *Click the OOTP6 exe to open it up. *Set your percentages to how you want them for each country. Save them if you like. *Make sure your computer's speakers are on. *Click "Originate" - you should here just that normal beep, just one click. *Close out the generator and the league file stuff, and open up OOTP6 (the game). Open your "test" league and go back to League set up > Misc. Set up. *Click "Import player general info from CSV." |

That error is when Originator cannot find "players_general.csv". Make sure you have Originator (and the OriginData folder) in your league folder, and make sure you're hitting "EXPORT Player General Info to CSV file".
