Cards news: April 25 -- Abdominal injury will sideline RHP Mike Swalis
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed rookie right-handed relief pitcher Mike Swails on the 15-day injured list after he left their 6-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves today with a pulled abdominal muscle.
Swails, 25, has pitched in nine games this season posting no record or saves and a 6.75 ERA.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 21-year-old right-hander Hector Montagnana.
Signed out of the Venezuela as a free agent in 2029, Montagnana has pitched in nine games at Memphis posting no decisions or saves and a 2.61 ERA.

Cards news: April 26 -- 1B Nick Yorke suffers injury setback
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned first baseman Nick Yorke will miss at least four more weeks because of a sprained ankle he suffered in a 5-2 loss to Atlanta on April 3.
Signed to a three-year contract in the off-season, Yorke, 33, has only played in five games this season and hit .250 with one home run and five RBIs.

Player of the Month: Luis Guanipa -- The 29-year-old outfielder hit .263 with two home runs, seven RBIs and 13 runs scored in 27 games. He got on base at a .381 clip and slugged .400.
Starting Pitcher of the Month: Eric Segura -- The 30-year-old right-hander went 3-1 in six starts with a 1.46 ERA. He pitched a total of 37.0 innings during which he struck out 39 and hand a 0.86 WHIP.
Relief Pitcher of the Month: Steven Howard -- The 27-year-old left-hander go into 13 games going 2-0 with two saves and a 1.50 ERA. He pitched a total of 18.0 innings during which he struck out 30 and had a 0.89 ERA.
