Some player moves today as Brandon Lowe goes on the 10-day IL with plantar fascitis, and the Rays acquired OF Stuart Fairchild from the Braves for cash. Money, that is, not Kevin Cash.

Welp, Stuart Fairchild injured his oblique after being acquired yesterday (without playing) so on the IL he goes and utilityman Coco Montes is back up for the first time since April or May.

The big move was the demotion of SP Taj Bradley to Durham with Mason Montgomery back up to take his place, although Bradley's rotation spot will likely go to Joe Boyle.

More roster shuffling for the Rays - between the time I posted yesterday's game and it actually took place they placed Ha-Seong Kim on the IL and activated OF Jonny DeLuca off the 60-day IL, and today they traded for IF Tristan Gray (who played for the Rays a few years ago) and DFA'd Coco Montes (himself just called up).

A busy 24 hours for the Rays as they overhauled the catcher position, first trading Danny Jansen to Milwaukee for a prospect and then shipping a prospect of their own (Matthew Etzel) to Miami for Nick Fortes, who is in tonight's lineup. To update the rosters I made both the trades through OOTP and this is what the respective (fake) GMs had to say about the deals:

One move we know Rays definitely made: Reliever Ian Seymour was sent to Durham and replaced with Paul Gervase.

Another move we kinda know they made: Brandon Lowe is being activated off the IL and is in the posted lineup. No word on who is going down, however - for our purposes here I assumed it would be IF Tristan Gray although Rays beat writer Marc Topkin speculates someone(Christopher Morel?) is possibly being dealt given the lack of a reported transaction. So here's tonight's best guess:

With the trade deadline approaching the Rays made two more deals late last night. Like last time and for laughs I ran the trades through OOTP:

LOL, neither GM liked that deal.

This one was more palatable to OOTP.

Also as a result of the trades the Rays called up lefties Ian Seymour and Joe Rock from Durham to take the roster spots of Littell and Gervase.

Here's today's game assuming nobody in the lineup is traded before it starts:

Gonna refresh the Live Start tomorrow to include all the deadline deals and subsequent moves today. For the Rays I'm not going to recap their trades but they did make the following roster moves:

RHP Griffin Jax officially reported (#22)
C Hunter Feduccia officially reported (#30)
Reinstated INF Ha-Seong Kim from the 10-day injured list
Recalled INF Tristan Gray from Triple-A Durham
Optioned LHP Joe Rock to Triple-A Durham
Placed INF Jonathan Aranda on the 10-day injured List (left-wrist fracture)
C Matt Thaiss was designated for assignment

Also going to refresh the LiveStart since it's had the Rays win so many games of late while they've actually been losing. They were 2 below .500 IRL coming in and if they lose tonight they'll be 6 games worse than their record in here.

One move: newly-acquired SP Adrian Houser is added to the roster and beleaguered reliever Kevin Kelly was sent packing to Durham.

Decided to hold off refreshing the live start to allow time for OOTP to reflect new guys reporting and will wait until Monday since I already put in the work getting the Dodgers roster updated.
