Player of the Month: Paul Goldschmidt -- The 35-year-old first baseman batted .267 with three home runs, 11 RBIs and 12 runs scored in 20 games. He got on base at a .391 clip and slugged .480.
Starting Pitcher of the Month: Steven Matz -- The 31-year-old lefty went 2-2 with a 4.30 ERA in four starts. He pitched a total of 23.0 innings, during which he struck out 23 and posted a 1.52 WHIP.
Relief Pitcher of the Month: Giovanny Gallegos -- The 31-year-old right-hander pitched in six games earning one save and posting a 1.12 ERA. He pitched a total of eight innings, during which he struck out 17 and had a 0.88 WHIP.

The St. Louis Cardinals have activated catcher Sean Murphy from the injured list and sent veteran catcher Tucker Barnhart to AAA Memphis.
Acquired in the offseason from Oakland, Murphy suffered a fractured left foot in the second game of the season which required a trip to the 10-day disabled list.
After coming off the IL, Murphy played four games for AAA Memphis, hitting .438 with one homer and two RBIs.
Signed to fill-in for Murphy, Barnhart found himself supplanted by rookie catcher Julio Rodriguez who ended up starting 10 games/16 played and hit .333 with four homers and nine RBIs.
That performance forced the decision to keep the 25-year-old in the majors and to see if Barnhart was willing to report to Memphis.
He was, in four games/three starts with St. Louis, Barnhart hit .133.

The St. Louis Cardinals have traded right-handed starting pitcher Michael Wacha along with two minor leaguers, shortstop Elias Reynoso and second baseman Arfeni Batista, in exchange for minor league left-hander Jhonathan Diaz.
The Cardinals picked up the 31-year-old Wacha before the start of the season when rookie starter David Matos was placed on the injured list during spring training.
Wacha made four starts for St. Louis, going 2-2 with a 5.82 ERA.
When Matos was ready to return to the majors, Wacha refused to report to AAA Memphis.
So, the Cardinals decided to look for a deal.
In Diaz, St. Louis acquires a 26-year-old reliever who had gone 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA in four appearances for AAA Salt Lake City this season.
Diaz pitched in the majors for the Angels during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
He got into seven games, going 2-1 with a 3.49 ERA.
Diaz will be assigned to AAA Memphis.
Reynosa, 19, was by the Cardinals as an international free agent in 2021.
He played in two games for High-A Palm Beach this season but had no at bats.
The Cardinals signed Batista as an international free agent in 2022.
He has yet to play in a game this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled outfielder Lars Nootbaar from AAA Memphis where he was on an injury rehab after suffering a groin injury in the third game of the season.
Nootbaar, 25, was batting .500 -- having gone 2 for 4 with a run scored -- at the time of his injury.
He played in three games at Memphis, hitting .250 with a homer and two RBIs.

Once again, the injury bug has taken a big bite out of St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neil who has been diagnosed with a torn back muscle which could keep him out for the remainder of the season.
O'Neill, 27, showed some pop in the opening weeks of the season hitting five homers in 24 games/23 starts but he hit just .136 and drove in 11 runs.
Outfielder Matt Koperniak will get his second call up from AAA Memphis of the season.
In his first callup, he played in 4 games/2 starts and hit .300 with an RBI.
In 29 games/28 starts for the Redbirds, Koperniak, 25, has hit .288 with five homers and 25 RBIs.
