Cleveland Black Cats - 1920s

Before they were a rip-off of the Cubs, the Cleveland Black Cats more closely hued to their real life MLB counterparts in Cleveland (1920 is probably the closest).

With a fiercesome panther patch on their home uniforms, the Black Cats signaled to their opponents that Cleveland was not an organization with which to trifle.

Kansas City Stars - 1920s

The KC Stars' set is based on a number of different uniforms from the '20s that would feature the logo on the uniform's crest. I was aiming for simplicity on this one (and thought about leaving the logo off the home uniforms entirely before opting to include it). The logo is reminiscent of the Monarch's logo.

Jacksonville Villains - 1920s

Inspired by the St. Louis Browns uniforms of the 1920s (e.g., here), this Villains set is one of my favorites from the 1920s here. And, though script was not really a thing on major league jerseys in the 1920s, the Buffalo Federal League team did it in the '10s. So, we're doing it here, too (there will be a handful of teams with script in this set this decade).

New Orleans Blackbirds - 1920s

One of my favorite franchises in this fictional league, this New Orleans' set features a simple blackbird patch on the sleeve of both the home and away uniform. Nice and clean. The MLB analogue would probably be the Washington Senators, but I opted against the pinstripes on the away jersey.

Chicago Emperors - 1920s

Loud and brash through most of their uniforms, the 1920s were no different for the braggadocious Chicago team. Closest analogue is probably Cleveland '28.

Louisville Elite Giants - 1920s

This Louisville set is based off the 1920s Detroit Stars. I wanted to have at least one team in the set with a colored placket and the white letter because I always thought it was a really cool design.

Nashville Comets - 1920s

Before they were Green-and-Gold, they were Green-and-White. Uniforms are kind of like the NY Giants without pinstripes on the aways. I liked the idea of inverting the caps for home-and-away, kind of like the '25 Cubs.

Newark Jays - 1920s

In the long layoff between posting the '30s uniforms and the '40s uniforms, I forgot that the Newark Stars supposedly switched names to the Jays in the '30s. So, we are going to retcon that and say that they switched from the Stars to the Jays in the '20s instead...

Savannah Goobers - 1920s

Like the '28 Cardinals, but a peanut. I want to thank everyone that's still following along and wish everyone a great weekend/MLK day in advance. I'll be back to post the final 9 from the '20s next week.

Do the M's have a clear background? They save as jpeg and the cap and jerseys are saving as .png. when i change the logos to .png, they still seem to have a white background.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! For whatever reason (likely that I uploaded them to imgur using my phone) the logos for Indy through Louisville all uploaded as jpgs for the '20s set. They've all been fixed now.

I'll also upload the full set of the 20s as a zip linked from the first post once all of the logos/caps/unis for the 20s are posted, too.

Atlanta Foxes - 1920s

One of the more successful franchises to date, the Foxes' '20s look is probably best characterized as akin to the '28 Tigers with a less gaudy patch on the away jerseys and a little more piping.

Similar to the '24 Braves, but with pinstripes on the aways.

Richmond Black Rifles - 1920s

Something akin to the '25 Red Sox, Monroe's second team secured an early championship and has mostly been in the top half of the standings for their existence.

St. Louis Canaries - 1920s

This team is generally one of the wilder sets of uniforms in each era. So, no surprise that they are one of the anachronistic script-based teams here. I think this concludes the Southern portion of the '20s.

Motor City Braves - 1920s

A simple crest and pinstripe set (in contrast to the somewhat exotic use of the 'Motor City' moniker) with block "city" name on the aways. Probably the closest is the '25 Brooklyn squad.

New York Black Kings - 1920s

Probably the hardest part of doing this set was coming up with a bunch of different ways to interlock 'N' and 'Y.' Tough to beat the real-life classics. In this instance, the whole set is heavily inspired by the New York Giants. I will post the last three for the '20s tomorrow. Thank you for following along!

Philadelphia Keystones - 1920s

More or less the '28 Athletics, but with a script P inside of a Keystone. The Philadelphia Keystones keep it simple in the '20s in unknowing preparation for their wilder '30s looks.

Pittsburgh Rollers - 1920s

Local rival to the Keystones, the Rollers feature a sharp black-and-orange look with a relatively plain home uniform and their namesake in script on the away jerseys. Unis broadly consistent with the Browns.
