2026 - Series #23 - Pittsburgh Pirates

The Paris Swingers were happy to be home and they surprised the critics who though the Charleston series was the beginning of the end. Paris wins two out of three against Pittsburgh but now have to fly to Orlando to play the tough Orlando Alliance squad.

Pirates lifted Lefty Stewart and squandered the lead with Paris scoring 4 runs off of Jayson Durocher to tie the game up. Kielty hit the grand slam to tie the game up, but Hernandez came in and walked Dan Stearns with the bases loaded in the 7th innings and the 6-5 lead held up. Pittsburgh scored 6 runs on 7 hits, but Gentile hit a 3 run blast in the first inning. Jack Dawson contributed 2 hits for Paris in the loss

Paris - Gail Hopkins (14,15), Bill Killefer (1)

Recap - Pittsburgh scored 3 in the top of the 1st and Paris tied it up at 3 and then took the lead and never looked back. Townsend has turned things around and seems to be becoming the Paris ace. Paris got 5 runs off of Hammel in 4 innings, their pen calmed things down. Hopkins is on a hitting rampage and is hitting .313 now. Dexter Fowler, Harlond Clift and Killefer added 2 hits apiece. Bid McPhee and Stearns had 2 hits and 2 RBI's for the losing Pirates.

Game #69 - Paris Swingers 3 Pittsburgh Pirates 2

2026 - Series #24 - Orlando Alliance

The good news that Gail Hopkins was named NL Player of the Week was received well and the Paris Swingers are feeling like they are getting on the map. However, the schedule is not kind and they dropped two out of three games to the Orlando Alliance on the road and now must face an equally tough Vancouver Men-O-War team at home.

Recap - Paris scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th off of reliever Rondon including the Castillo 2 run homer. This blew a great effort by Orlando ace Berger. Ernesto Cancino pitched well for 4 2/3 innings and allowed just one run but was fatigued at 74 pitches. Four relievers kept Orlando off the board and Paris 3 hits from Tony Piet and 2 each by Gail Hopkins and Castillo. Brown gets the save as Ben DeMott was not available.

Besides going deep, Nash and Doyle drove in 3 runs. Terry Crowley added 3 hits for the victorious Orlando team. Paris mustered up 6 hits, of which 2 each were by Dexter Fowler and Gail Hopkins

Game #72 - Orlando Alliance 3 Paris Swingers 1

WP - Glenn Gardner (6-0)
LP - Paul Thormodsgard (2-6)
Save - Dan Collins (17)

Star of Game - Joey Hamilton (5 IP, 1 hit, 1 ER, 6 K's)

Homers - None

Recap - Orlando got 3 in the bottom of the 6th to erase the Paris 1-0 lead. The Paris run came as Bobby Kielty had the lone hit off of Hamilton with a triple and Ricky Nelson pushed him across with a sacrifice fly. Gardner got the win and has a 0.96 ERA and the closer Collins lowered his ERA to 0.33 Thormodsgard had Orlando shutout for 5 innings but was kept in and gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning. Billy Nash drove in 2 runs while Terry Crowley had 2 hits for Orlando. Paris just had 2 hits the other hit was a 6th inning double by Gail Hopkins

Standing - Paris Swingers are 32-40 and are in 9th place in the NL Atlantic trailing the 8th place Charleston Cheetahs by 1 game and leading the 10th place Savannah Thunder by one game

Transactions - backup catcher Bill Killefer who was a rule 5 pick was returned back to the Tokyo Alligators in the American League. Paris promotes Amos Booth to the show. Booth was hitting .252 in AAA Amarillo with zero homes and 14 RBI's. He is a 26 year old from Lebanon, PA who Paris acquired in the trade in May with the Mobile Swordfish.

The Paris Swingers lose 2 of 3 at home against the tough Vancouver Men-O-War. We now have been in Kimberley for the past few days and I got to see South Africa. It was a super long trip to play the Kimberley Ocelots so there is hope the second half will be better.

2026 - Series #26 - Kimberley Ocelots

The Paris Swingers wanted the sweep of this expansion team down in South Africa but had to settle for two out of 3 games as they head home to play the Oklahoma City Colts. 2026 - Series #27 - Oklahoma City Colts

The Paris Swingers were able to get one win in games against Oklahoma City and are in their own little race in the NL Atlantic which now makes for an interesting series on the road against the Savannah Thunder. Next year the races will be different as Paris won't be mired in races against south Atlantic teams.

Game #79 - Oklahoma City Colts 5 Paris Swingers 2

WP - Mark Redman (5-4)
LP - Happy Townsend (6-6)
Save - Doug Bird (1)

Redman was savvy and held Paris off the board until Dawson's bomb. Rick Renick had 2 hits and Fernando Tatis Jr drove in 2 runs to account for most of the Oklahoma City offense. Recap - Wellington Castillo breaks the 8-8 tie with a walk homer off of Bradley. The wind was blowing out for sure with 8 homers collectively. Dawson hit a 2 run homer earlier in the inning to tie the game and Dawson continues to defy logic by being a star after nearly freezing to death. Ernesto Cancino started and was terrible giving up 4 runs in 4 innings. Jeff Niemann was even worse for Oklahoma City giving up 5 runs in 2 2/3 innings. Kielty had 2 hits and 2 RBI's for the winning team. Daley had a 3 hit game for Oklahoma City

2026 - Series #29 - Boise Parrots

The plane ride to Lincoln is not good as the Paris Swingers thought they had turned the corner before the Boise Parrots came to town and swept them. The next stretch of schedule is favorable but when they play these kinds of series, they are exposed as a 2nd year expansion team

Game #85 - Boise Parrots 22 Paris Swingers 1

WP - Carl Pavano (10-2)
LP - Happy Townsend (6-7)

Star of Game - Joe Morgan (3-4, Homer, 5 RBI's)

Homers
Boise - John Briggs (10), Joe Morgan (9)

Recap - When Townsend don't got it, he looks like a beer league pitcher and that is what it was like today. He gave up 7 runs in 1 1/3 innings and 4 hitters got to pitch today. Pavano fanned 8 and did not read the enormous run support. Jonathan Schoop drove in 3 runs to go along with Morgan's 5 and Briggs' 4. Harlond Clift had 2 of the 4 Paris hits. Simply a game to wash from memory

Game #86 - Boise Parrots 4 Paris Swingers 3

WP - Kenley Jansen (3-1)
LP - Ben DeMott (3-1)
Save - George Mohart (24)

Star of Game - George Davies (5 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 8 K's)

Homers
Paris - Wellington Castillo (6)

Recap - Paris had the 3-0 lead in this one as Ed Karger was good for 4 innings before giving up 3 in the 5th inning. DeMott has been great but he came into a tie game and walked Joe Morgan with the bases loaded in the top 9th which plated home Javier Valentin. Mohart is a lights out ace and Boise wins the game. Boise got 3 hits from Valentin and 2 hits each from volatile players in Lenny "Nails" Dykstra and Vincent Vega the Parisian hitman. Vega was a Paris hitman before going to the baseball fields and worked with Jules Winnfield. At 39 years old Vegas is hitting .340 playing every day. Paris got 2 hits each from Tony Piet and Castillo

Game #87 - Boise Parrots 8 Paris Swingers 6

WP - Hyun-Jin Ryu (10-2)
LP - Mitch Keller (2-2)
Save - George Mohart (25)

Star of Game - Hyun-Jin Ryu (6 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER 4 K's)

Homers
Boise - Jonathan Schoop (29)
Paris - Dexter Fowler (9), Jack Dawson (25), Bobby Kielty (18)

Recap - Boise completes the sweep in this one was Ryu was not his best but good enough. Bill Gogolewski lasted 4 innings and gave up 2 earned runs, he was fatigued after an hour rain delay. Paris got 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th off of Boise reliever Andy Karl, but Mohart put out the fire. The crazy combination of Lenny Dysktra and Vincent Vega were huge for Boise as they both drove in 2 runs, Dykstra had 3 hits. Tony Piet, Milt Bolling and Fowler had 2 hits each but Paris fell short

Standing - Paris Swingers are 38-49 and are in 8th place in the NL Atlantic trailing the West Palm Beach Dinos by 4 games and leading the 9th place combination of the Charleston Cheetahs and Savannah Thunder by 2 games, as both of those teams got swept

Looking Ahead - Paris is heading to Nebraska to play the Lincoln Music. Lincoln is 22-65 and in 12th place in the NL Midwest and then the 13th place NL Midwest Lagos Hammerheads come to town, they should win a few games.

Transactions - Scott Brown went on the injured list for 10 days which gets John Stuper promoted. Brown will be out 3 weeks with shoulder tendonitis. Stuper was 2-8 in Amarillo but had a 3.95 ERA. Also Ricky Nelson finds his way to the disabled list. Nelson sprained his ankle and is out 2 weeks which brings BJ Vogt back to Paris Vogt was hitting .385 in the minors after hitting half of that at the major league level all year.

2026 - Series #30 - Lincoln Music

The Paris Swingers pull off the sweep on the road in Lincoln against the Lincoln Music, not a town known for it's music scene but neither is Salt Lake City the cool jazz capital of the world. Things are looking bright now flying home to play Lagos before traveling back to play West Palm Beach who is the team Paris is chasing in the standings next

Game #88 - Paris Swingers 9 Lincoln Music 0

WP - Joel Collins (3-0)
LP - Max Scherzer (4-5)

Star of Game - Joel Collins (8.2 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER 4 K's)

Homers
Paris - Harlond Clift (17), Bobby Kielty (19), BJ Vogt (4)

Recap - Collins is back and he really was solid in the minors, this 33 year old journeyman is finding himself as he finally taken out in the 9th as he hit 100 pitches and John Stuper finished the game. Paris abused Scherzer for 6 runs in 3 1/3 innings which brought his ERA up to 3.18 on the season. Scherzer is a 22 year old rookie and had the misfortune of being drafted by Lincoln. Kielty had 3 hits while Clift and Vogt drove in 2 runs apiece for the offense. John Smith collected 2 of Lincoln's mere 3 hits.

Game #89 - Paris Swingers 4 Lincoln Music 3

WP - Paul Thormodsgard (4-7)
LP - Hal Griggs (1-7)
Save - Bob Lee (1)

Star of Game - Paul Thormodsgard (6 IP, 6 hits, 2 ER, 4 K's)

Homers
Paris - Harlond Clift (18)

Recap - Paris got 3 runs in the first inning and never looked back in this one. Thormodsgard continues to show some of his promise from last year. Griggs gave up 4 runs in 3 innings and the Lincoln pen silenced Paris thereafter. Clift hit a 2 run homer while Dexter Fowler, Wellington Castillo and BJ Vogt had 2 hits each. Lenny Green and Humberto Quintero had 2 hits each for Lincoln

Game #90 - Paris Swingers 4 Lincoln Music 3 (12 innings)

WP - Ben DeMott (4-1)
LP - Brad Lidge (0-2)
Save - Rudy Hernandez (2)

Star of Game - Scott Kazmir (6 1/3 innings, 2 hits, 0 ER 11 K's)

Homers
Paris - Tony Piet (8), Wellington Castillo (7)

Recap - Castillo drills the go head homer in the 12th off of "Lights Out" Lidge. Kazmir was untouchable and hit the 90 pitches and Paris bats were happy to see him exit the game. Happy Townsend started and was taken out in the 3rd inning with an injury, there is no update on the injury but the bullpen got overworked today. John Stuper looked great with 3 scoreless innings. Paris got to Dan Quisenberry and Scott Williamson in relief including Piet's homer. Piet hit a 3 runs hot and Paris got 2 hits each from Castillo, Gail Hopkins and Johnny Dickshot. Lincoln did not hit a homer all series. Their offense came from sports announcer Dan Patrick and Joe Frazier (not the boxer but the ex Mets manager) with 2 hits each.

Standing - Paris Swingers are 41-49 in 8th place in the NL Atlantic and they trail the 7th place West Palm Beach Dinos by 2 games and lead the 9th place Charleston Cheetahs by 2 games.

2026 - Series #41 - Cozumel Scouts

A very disappointing series at home against Cozumel which saw the Paris Swingers get swept and they made some trades to get younger

Gogolewski fanned 6 over five innings but the errors cost him. Wagner was in control and the Cozumel bullpen did the rest. Pete Browning and Johnny Estrada had 2 hits each for Cozumel in the win. Transactions - Ed Karger was traded to the El Paso Grizzlies for CF Eddie Miller. Miller is a fast guy that strikes out too much.....After that trade Johnny Dickshot was sent to the minors and Ernesto Cancino got recalled. Paris then traded Milt Bolling and Ricky Nelson as a package to the Staten Island Blue Jackets for LF Cal Abrams, Reliever Michael Tejera and reliever Adam Pettyjohn. Abrams is a 24 year old from Philadelphia who was tearing it up in AA ball for Staten Island. ... After those moves, Paris demoted John Stuper to the minors and recalled SS Doc Lavan from the minors. Lavan was hitting .270 with 35 RBI's in AAA, he came over in the same trade from the Houston Astros that saw Johnny Dickshot come to town.

Looking Ahead - The Nashua Fire Dogs come to Paris and they are woeful at 26-100 and in last place in the NL East, then Paris travels to Edmonton to play the Edmonton Bluebirds.
