i'm playing a Random debut league 1876 -1900 for players this year and almost half the league doesn't have a FG. I've loaded over 50 from a previous file from OOTP 19 before i started using your file.

Yeah this is all related to an unfortunate error that was in place within the game itself when all these files were auto-renamed a couple years back. They were renamed using the modern database as a reference point which had (and still has as far as I can tell) an absolute slew of ID-related errors. To this point, I've had no great way of quickly identifying the complete list of affected players. Every update to the pack has been including whatever I can find and get fixed.

Anything you can provide with regards to players missing facegens because of incorrect file names would be a massive help.

I simmed from 1901-2020 and I’m using that leave going through the thousands of players and using your facegens to see which are missing and fixing them. Of course I downloaded yours a day before you uploaded version 2 so I am check that zip for newer/fixed versions first. I don’t feel like overwriting what I already did

Leach is a matter of the ID issue that's been haunting this pack for a while. It's being worked on, but is unfortunately just going to take time.

The other two are something we're talking with the historical database team with. Certain players never played in the minors so they don't "technically" have minors IDs to use. However, baseball-reference assigns them IDs anyway, and that's what was used for file names in the pack. Implementing those "fake" IDs into the database is being discussed, and that would fix many of these players.

As a work in progress note: I'm currently sifting through the full list of files containing "dic" which should hopefully resolve missing facegens for the full list of guys named Dick. In addition to renames, I'm also checking them all for quality as I go.

I should hopefully be able to do a few more of the common nicknames that will cause errors (Doc, Bill, etc.), before an update around the end of April or start of May.

I've gotten though A-M (First initials) for players between 1901-2020. some of the names have been brutal. for example, it seemed like every other Mike had to be changed from ***mik to ***mic.

1. Make sure OOTP isn't running.
2. Go to the folder /Users/(username)/Application Support/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 22.
3. Delete the folder fg_files.
4. Add the downloaded folder, also named fg_files.

I just went through all major league players. Most everyone that still has a firstname_lastname format are ones that don't have a historical minors ID in the game. If you update the files to the minors ID and they aren't in the game, then the facegens won't load automatically

Status update:

• Checked every single player with "dic" in their file name: Eliminated some unnecessary "First_Last" files, quality checked everyone, created newly named files whenever needed.
• Filename fixes from silvam14 were implemented as the new pack baseline, and work done since then re-added.
• Decided I will no longer be supporting the so-called modern player database with facegens. Supporting it is adding bloat to the pack, which I dislike. Also, the ID differences are all in error, and being fixed by the devs anyway. I'll still include coach/manager/staff facegens for the modern side, but I'm no longer going to have things like a separate Babe Ruth facegen named with a bad ID just to load in a modern league.
• Continued quality checking/file renaming for historical players as I notice they need them.
• All players on the default MLB rosters for historical season 1973 (selected semi-randomly) checked to ensure quality, existing facegen, and lack of duplicate files.
• In progress: All players on the default MLB rosters for historical season 1961 (selected semi-randomly) being checked to ensure quality, existing facegen, and lack of duplicate files. Five teams still need to be done (PHI, PIT, SF, STL, WAS).
• In progress: Facegen creation and quality check for the 75 Negro League Stars players' added for Perfect Team - 18 players remain, all currently having no facegen at all.
• Pending: Tinis/Allyn says they'll have another submission of facegens for me.

I'll be pushing an update sooner than originally planned because I want to get the pack on Steam fairly soon. Possibly going to have it out on Monday or Tuesday depending on how my weekend looks, and whether or not I think I can push through another historic season in addition to what's currently in progress.

So the way the game works under the hood, there's a modern database, used when you play the current year, and a historical database used when you're playing any past season. For whatever reason, the modern side did not use correct IDs for many players. The devs have been slowly fixing them, but it's a very long process. In order to support the modern database, I've had to include thousands of duplicate versions of the same facegens, with a different name, so that it will automatically load in current year games. That support is what's ending. Many/most players have correct IDs in the modern database, so they will be completely unaffected.

To illustrate with a fictional example:
Let's take a player born "George Random" who went by "Guy Random" during his playing days. His correct ID would be random001geo, and the historical database has that. The modern database, on the other hand, incorrectly lists him with random001guy. In the past, I would have a file under each ID. Going forward, I'm only going to have a file named random001geo - the correct ID - which will only load during historical play. Now the good news is that at some point, the devs will likely fix Guy Random's ID in the modern database, which will get his facegen file working in any game after the database update is pushed out. If you happen to be a huge Guy Random fan and want his facegen working when you pull up his history in a modern league, you're able to edit his historical minors ID on his player page to the correct one and that will allow his facegen to automatically load (or manually import the facegen file).

I want to stress that most players in the modern database do use a correct ID, and will be completely unaffected by this change (e.g. Babe Ruth is correctly "ruth--002geo" in both databases). Also it's going to be a slow process eliminating the duplicate files, so not all players with incorrect IDs in the modern database will be immediately affected.

Modern minor leaguers and draft classes are still going to be supported now and going forward (also I know I've been slacking on the draft class facegens, that's something I'm going to push more for in the update after this one).

I just want to be certain, are your screenshots from a random debut league? The ID matches the pitcher active from 1971-1983 but the look and the birthday do not match anyone I can find on baseball reference named Ed Farmer.

The file for the one in my pack for the linked player is dated June 26, 2015, so it's absolutely ancient. Assuming this is the same player, I just threw together a new facegen for him for the update:

I can tell straight away that the facegen in SS1 is a system-generated fictional facegen. The facial hair is a dead giveaway.

Looking at the filename situation, farmer001edw.fg isn't in the pack, but farmer001ed-.fg is. This will be updated I am sure. Thus, your game created a fictional facegen for the former White Sox pitcher/announcer

Fancy, the one that you just knocked out in your reply is very accurate. I would say go with that one.
