Yet another prospect, Kiebert Ruiz of the Dodgers made his debut yesterday. He is just over 22 years of age and will get some valuable experience. The Tigers top prospects are still playing catch in Toledo.

Mize looked great. He did give up a dinger in the 2nd and the fifth unraveled with a squibby ground ball single and misplayed ball in right along with his biggest mistake - threw too high trying to give his catcher a chance to throw out a runner but the PB didn't net an additional base.
7 Ks and no walks in 4.1 innings is a pretty good 'hello' to the bigs. Otherwise, this season is going south fast.

These past few years, one of the best things about Detroit baseball has been its social media posts. I don't know if it has been the same guy throughout but the feel has been consistent.
Today was one of his best. After the 19-0 drubbing to Milwaukee, this was the Detroit post with the final score announcement: "Bro, I am straight up NOT having a good time."

![]() While I’m fully aware they are playing a lot of inter squad games it just sounded like that line you always here about a guy going down to get reps and work on something during a normal minor league season. |

It is a weird day when the Tigers lose 19-0 and it may not even be the worst loss of the day. Miami scores 9 runs but still lost by 20 to Atlanta. 29-9. (Insert football score analogy here)

I saw that 19-0 (was the only game on, and hey, this year I can even watch the horrendous Youtube broadcasts!).
It made me weep for humanity. Also, that leftfield corner needs re-sowing.

Nice to see Candelario get some recognition for the last month he has put together by being named AL player of the week.

My hope is that Casey Mize is the type of pitcher that takes outings like last night and learns from them. Every pitcher goes through adversity and growth opportunities. I hope his beatdowns make him a better pitcher in the long run.

Agreed. It does seem he has had a run of really tough luck. Honestly though, I’m kinda hopeful seeing all of this now makes him a better player down the road.

Said he was having tremors in his hands. Was hoping it was just nerves and stepping away from the stress of managing will help him get back to normal. Best of luck in retirement. He had quite a baseball life.

For the most part that was an enjoyable season to watch.
It was nice to see so many young guys joining the team. Most struggled but there were signs on improvement and learning. I'm really looking forward to the next couple of years. My biggest take away is that with some bigger name players this team may be able to start competing again. I don't know if they could have maintained their start throughout the season but they were a team to be worried about until Cron went down. And then with each injury they slowly slipped away. Cron and Schoop are decent players. Imagine if they had a few or more good players.

I had a friend tell me that he heard Gardy really retired because he got into it with Avila about a player. I have not been able to find corroborating evidence to such a claim. Has anyone else seen anything? As for the season, I thought Candelario made the biggest positive stride and they got some young guys some much needed big league experience.

I found it. It is from a podcast called "No Filter Sports" hosted by Eli Zaret and of all people Denny McClain. McClain is the one fueling the rumor. So coming from that despicable individual I'm not sure how much weight it holds with me. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bunch of behind the scenes interference going on. I just do not trust a word McClain says and wonder why anyone in the organization would even deal with him. Here is the link to the podcast and at about the hour and 15 mark is where they drop the rumor. Episode 178
