I never thought it would come to this, but I've got to bench Mike Trout. He's striking out over 30% of the time against the extremely stacked rotations in my Perfect League conference. The leaderboard in the other conference is loaded with Trouts, but mine just has 1 that's listed in the top HR hitters, and no where else other than my Trout and another among the Strikeout leaders. I always wondered how he can do so well with that Avoid K, but I think the competition is finally starting to slow him down.

I bat him lead-off because he still manages .400 OBP with speed. Anything else I get out of him is pure gravy.

The Casper Troopers are in B242 in their first season of existence. The team got off to a slow start, finishing April 6 games after .500. At the end of July, Casper still sat 4 games under but the team heated up in July. They just lost for the first time since having won 8 in a row and have now won 15 out of 19 in the month to pull into the lead in the Wildcard race in the NC with a current record of 54-47. The Troopers are sitting 11 1/2 games out in the NC West, trailing the only team in the league with over 60 wins. The New York Hurricanes are currently 67-35, so a wildcard spot seems like their best chance at the postseason.
The Krathan Garrickes are in B329 in their third season overall. The team went to the postseason each of their first two seasons, entering the playoffs as a wildcard team both times. The Garrickes have yet to win a postseason game. Krathan is currently 63-37, 1 game ahead of the Sullust Sullustans in the AC Central. Sullast has a 4 game lead in the AC Wildcard race at the moment, so Krathan is currently in a good spot when looking at a potential return to the postseason. They’re hoping to keep hold of the division lead and avoid the wildcard game this season. They have been above .500 every month so far this year. The Peoria Flames are in B295 in their third season overall. The team made the playoffs as a wildcard team in 2025, and as a division winner in 2026. They lost their wildcard game and then lost 3-1 in the Division Series the following year. This season, the Flames are tearing up the league, currently sitting at 70-42, 18 1/2 games ahead of the Tamworth Hogs in the AC West Division. Peoria has the best record in the league, with the top ranked offense and 2nd ranked pitching staff in the American Conference. This looks like their best chance yet to push for a championship and promotion to the Silver Leagues. |

Typically, July has not been a good month for the Hoggs, either leading up to the All Star Break or afterwards. However, this month we continued to trundle along, our longest winning streak 3, our longest losing streak 2. We went 16-10 across the month to extend our lead in the NC West Division to 8 games.
The Ittoqqortoormit Corgis, who have a park favoring pitchers and gap hitters (though doubles and triples are only 1.1 as opposed to the max 1.5), have the best record in our conference and in the league, at 71-37. I'm hoping if things for the Hoggs continue as they are and we win our division that the Corgis will also continue as they are because this would put us on the other side of the wildcard, which at this stage looks to be the two teams below me in our division, both of which I have struggled to win against. We've dropped from most runs scored to 6th but we remain on top of run prevention. Our differential is +129. We were shut out 4 times during the month, the score each time 3-0 or 2-0. I've decided to upgrade my backup catcher from Bo Diaz, who's actually having his best season for us (.266/.319/.427, with 4HR, from 135PA). But that's about the best I can expect from him. I'm going with Buster Posey, who can also be my 1B defensive sub. His catcher ability is also a few points higher. Andrelton Simmons has jumped up to a 93 rating at 3B, those last 30 points coming at a really quick rate. By contrast, his rating at 1B has only risen 5 points so far this season (to 56), despite having started only 3 less games there than 3B. Across the 2 seasons I've been training him he's started 43 games at 3B and 45 at 1B. He's also started 39 at 2B. His rating there is 67. LF rating is 29, from 13 starts. CF is 12 from 9 starts (I decided relatively early last season not to start him regularly there as he was costing me games). 7 at RF from 2 starts.

August has begun and we're still in contention, leading the #2 WC spot by 1/2 game. I didn't think we'd be contenders at the diamond level for several more seasons at least so it took me until now to believe that it might last (I kept expecting a collapse). Chris Carpenter has been amazing, going 16-2 and leading the NC in ERA (like he did last year) and surprisingly, Len Barker is #2 in ERA.

Will_L, Izz, mrbucket and acclaim99: I've decided to join the diamond league in Orcin's thread so if you guys don't want to be in that league, you probably should remove me as a friend since the game may decide to place you in that league with me. Then again, it might place me in a different league with you guys instead. So... Do any of you want to be in that league too?

I'm also FTP. In terms of points (from Orcin's thread), my team has only 16, but I still think it will be fun even if we don't do too well there. Besides, if we get relegated to gold and you're still there, maybe we can join up there.

Are you planning to remove Mookie and Trout from the Yaks team and find replacements?
I am still working on setting up a platoon to replace them but had to make some pitching improvements first. Redmond Base Stealers sit at 61-45 but I was able to go 9-9 against top25 PT universe teams. My other base stealing team sits at a more comfortable 80-28 but I have not run into any of the stronger whales. The Parish Who Dats are in the AC Division. |

Sure, it'll be great to share a league with you again, and be in the same with Izz. Corsairs will be in Diamond again unless lightning strikes the same place thrice :-) Corsairs have 35 points. Last edited by Will_L; 02-01-2019 at 04:35 AM. |

I am set now so that I can concentrate on replacing them. I just can't afford the exorbitant price on the players I need.

Fighting Saints are 54-57 and 5 games out in the wildcard in P406.
Have a feeling I'll fall short but holding my own. |

1st Team (D368) 63-44 First season in Diamond with zero Diamond players and we are #2 in our Division but #1 in the WC race. Only upgraded 3 positions but brought in Carlos Delgado @ DH and Bobby Bonds @ RF and Whitney Ford @ SP.
Brian Giles and Sal Bando continue to be my two key players and both are on course for 5.0 WAR seasons. Other than this we have the worst Batting Avg in our Conference (.255) and are currently 21-12 in one run games with Pyt of +3 and RDiff of +66. I expect some regression in the 2nd half of the season. Pitching and Defense have been lights out for me. Both SP and Bullpen are in the top 3 and we have the #1 defense which is surprising considering we are rolling out Ford, Spahn (HL86), Dieker, Anderson and Pettitte each week. Just woke up and of course the first thing I do is go check how the Hoggs are doing (I'm not addicted, honest!).
They haven't lost a game in August yet and are currently on a 9-game win streak. This includes a sweep of the Corgis. Overall record 73-41. Somehow we're still a game below our Pythag. EDIT: Streak ends with a 5-4 10-inning loss to the Amsterdam Black Crows. We put up 12 hits to their 5. Rollie Fingers gives up just his 2nd earned run and 1st homer to take the loss.
