L-AVG: .265 (5) R-AVG: .263 (5) L-HR: 18 (5) R-HR: 24 (6) L-BB: 88 (7) R-BB: 35 (3) L-K: 98 (5) R-K: 102 (5) Basically for players that have had solid playing time and a fair number of ABs versus both R and L in the past 3 years i use a weighted average format. It has produced some fairly interesting, but statistically accurate splits. For Boone's HR: 2002: L-AB: 150 L-HR: 4 R-AB: 456 R-HR: 22 2001: L-AB: 98 L-HR: 5 R-AB: 283 R-HR: 9 2000: L-AB: 53 L-HR: 1 R-AB: 238 R-HR: 11 So on the 550 AB scale that OOTP uses, and using a weighting of 55/30/15, his L-HR would be: (.55)(14.67)+(.30)(28.06)+(.15)(10.38) = 18.04 and his R-HR would be: (.55)(26.54)+(.30)(17.49)+(.15)(25.42) = 23.66 So really in 2002, his L-HR numbers fell in half (per AB), while his R-HR split numbers increased.

Weird. . .I guess it my be my system or something. Sorry. When I click on the link, it immediately says that the download is complete. When I try to unzip the file, it goes so fast I can't read what it is saying at all, and nothing is unzipped. V1 works just fine. . .any ideas anyone? Or is anybody else hosting it?

hey GForce...so are you done with your rosters for the year...all the updates you're looking to do, or do you still have work to do on them?
I've been away a bit waiting for opening day and hoping you'd be done around now. If so...where's the best place to download them? Thanks a lot for so much work you've done on this!!!! |

Guys, I understand that some of you are waiting for the Opening Day set to come out. But it can't come out if teams are still making moves for Opening Day.

ok, here's the deal.
TotalMinors Opening Day Roster Set: -- will include top 30 prospects for each team (top 10 have been in through v 1.1, plus some others, basically will add 10-15 per team. -- will include correct rotations and lineups as per cbs.sportsline.com and mlb.com (it'll probably take a couple of days after opening day for them to get this right) -- Will include real DL times for players (I MAY release a second version without real DL because I know not everyone likes having their season start with guys on the DL). -- IF (a big if) we can reach a good opinion on the financial aspect (revenues, ticket prices, etc.) to work with the 70% real salaries I did for v 1.1, I will include modified finances as well. -- Fixing of typos, adding middle initials, adding a couple of players not in the set who are not prospects (Ken Cloude among them) -- Fix the Cubs great hitting pitchers issue -- Go over ratings again and adjust (I will probably continue to do this after opening day as well, posting updated csv sheets for guys to import into their existing leagues. This will NOT screw up your league, it will just update ratings. -- Depending when Baseball America releases its issue with the opening day rosters for minor league teams, I will do those assignments correctly as well. However, this is a low priority for the simple fact that the computer teams will move guys around as soon as you start a season. -- Updated transactions through Opening Day (NOT through April 15) -- Right now the TARGET date is April 15. But please understand, I am back at work after my son was born, I work in New Jersey and have almost a 2 hour commute both ways, then get home and need to take care of my son because my wife is exhausted. Somewhere in the midst of that, I am updating this. At this point I still think it will be April 15, but you'll need to understand if it goes a little beyond that. After today, all of the hitting prospects will have been added to the set and their hitting ratings will be done (I'll still need to review their fielding ratings a bit). Pitchers will take longer, but I hope 2 weeks will be enough time to get all of this done. Thanks for the continued support and interest. GH |

Hey GForce, do you also set the lineups for each team? like, lineup vs Right/Right No DH etc?
If not, does anyone know a site that usually lists each teams current lineup vs pitcher arm/DH? thanks, chinaski |

Not sure if this is an issue for GForce (or if anyone cares at all) but in the Cubs team records, it lists Ron Santo as the record holder for hitting streak with a 28-game streak in 1966. Jerome Walton had a 30-game hitting streak in 1989.

JGross68...I am the one who supplied the Records file for Totalminors v1.1. I am still having trouble finding team hitting streak and k's in a game records, so I have not changed any from the previous (OOTP4) version that I started with. That version was not mine and I believed all of those records to be correct. Do you know where I can confirm Walton's streak and where I may be able to find any other teams' records? If I am able to confirm any incorrect records I will be glad to change them and send the new file onto GForce.
By the way, I was the Pirates' owner in your now defunct GAPBL!

Of course I remember you Mr. Hepler! Too bad the GAPBL couldn't have thrived longer. Damned lazy commissioner...
Anyway, I just happened to notice the Santo/Walton mixup because I'm a lifelong Cubbies fan and remember Walton's 1989 streak - it was, after all, one of the three seasons the Cubs reached the postseason in my lifetime... Here's a link verifying Walton's hitting streak: http://www.calgarycannons.com/roster/walton.html (I had no idea he was still knocking around organized ball) What I don't know for certain is whether or not Walton's 30-game hit streak is indeed the Cubs' team record. I haven't been able to confirm that as of yet. I think that it is and it would stand to reason since I believe 30 games is in the top 10-15 hitting streaks of all-time (remember hearing something about that during Luis Castillo's streak last year). If I find a good site listing these sorts of team records, I'll be sure and pass it along. See you around!

GForce and UKRedsFan....
Just thought I would let you guys know that I have been doing some research and testing on Fan Interest. I am using the average attendance per game for each team in each of the past three seasons and dividing that by the stadium capacity in each of those seasons to get the percentage of seats filled per game (I believe Rolen17 made this suggestion). I have simply plugged that percentage in as each teams' Fan Interest - making arbitrary adjustments for teams with new stadiums or one who made the playoffs for the first time in several years. So far, I have only simmed one season and I am satisfied with about half of the teams. In somecases, I need to adjust the numbers up or down more in relation to the teams current trends, ie - Atlanta's attendance has declined by 7.5% in each of the last 2 seasons. I plan to tweak these numbers over the next few days and then get back to you with my findings. In the meantime, I would be interested to know what teams this post's readers believe should have an increase in attendance and which ones will likely decrease. Hopefully we can come to an agreement on those teams and I can get some numbers that seem to work. Also, I have started a new thread so everyone can give feedback on this and not have to fill-up this thread with material that isn't related to the roster project. http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...491#post249491 Last edited by DCHepler25; 04-02-2003 at 05:30 PM. |

Naturally, not long after my last post I found this site listing out hitting streak records. It's not team-by-team, but you may find it helpful DCH: Baseball-Almanac.com: Consecutive Hitting Streak Chart.
So, Jerome Walton does indeed hold the modern-day Cubs record for a hitting streak at 30 games. But prior to 1900, two Chicago National Leaguers had equal or greater streaks: Cal McVey's 30-game streak in 1876 and Bill Dahlen's 42-game streak in 1894. Not sure if you're keeping pre-1900 records, but there it is. P.S. Who is this DiMaggio fellow with a 56-game streak in 1941? Can that possibly be correct?

DCHelper25 there were also some incorrect team records for the Arizona Diamondbacks that I noticed when i edited the OOTP4 file to work with OOTP5 (if I am thinking of the same file, CNT2B's, if not then disregard this message.) They were somewhat minor errors, ie it had Luis Gonzalez as the doubles recordholder with 45 in 1999 but he hit 47 in 2000 to set a new record; Jay Bell as the walks holder with 82 in 1999, Gonzalez walked 100 times in 2001.
The team strikeout record can be difficult to find because in most instances you only find 15+ k games referenced. |
