Just to continue this look at how things have gone so far in my 62-year OOTP16 random debut, here are some league-wide 62-season averages, along with the RL 1984 averages for comparison (seeing as how all seasons are meant to output the RL stats from 1984):

AVG: .259984 (1984 MLB: .260)
OBP: .323282 (1984 MLB: .323)
SLG: .381750 (1984 MLB: .385)
OPS: .705032 (1984 MLB: .708)
R/G: 4.30613 (1984 MLB: 4.26)
ERA: 3.82065 (1984 MLB: 3.81)
2B/AB: .043306 (1984 MLB: .043)
3B/AB: .006887 (1984 MLB: .007)
HR/AB: .021565 (1984 MLB: .023)
BB/PA: .083629 (1984 MLB: .083)
K/AB: .153984 (1984 MLB: .156)
SB%: 66.95694% (1984 MLB: 66.74%)
FLD%: .977774 (1984 MLB: .978)
BABIP: .289129 (1984 MLB: .289)

The offense has varied over these 62 seasons, but as you can see, the average of those 62 seasons is in absolute lockstep with where it was IRL. Awesome.

Thanks for the detailed response. I’ll set aside some time for testing this weekend.

I'm not sure how much I can disclose outside beta. Let's just say I believe you'll be pleased with the results.

NOTE: I used the new option to Lock League Total Stats. (BTW, I used 1984 as the inaugural year.)

Outliers are hard to find. I'll give you some examples:

___________________________________________

.400+ BA: 1x (.413)
___________________________________________

50+ HR: 2x (top: 52)
___________________________________________

1.1000+ OPS: 9x (top: 1.1977)
___________________________________________

150+ RBI: 2x (top: 151)
___________________________________________

25+ Wins: 2x (top: 25)
___________________________________________

20+ Losses: 32x (top: 24) <-- not sure why so many

League BA and ERA remained consistent throughout the run. So, the Lock League Stats option is working.

A couple questions that you may be able to answer, you sort of answered one of the already.
1. There has been discussions that OOTP 18 runs “hotter” than 16. For example using recalc development off standard setting I would have 16 to 20 guys hitting .400 for the years 1901-1950 and in 18 I would have double that. Do you think OOTP will be more like 16?
2. Do you know if the issue with neutralized stats, OFs like Sam Crawford, Ty Cobb and many others showing up as 1st basemen, has that been resolved?

Thank You, I hope I didn’t hijack this thread.

Don't worry about hijacking the thread dude. It's all good. We're all trying to make historical work well again, and pstrickert's initial tests sound very encouraging to me.

1. OOTP19 does not run as "hot" as OOTP18 in my testing so far.

2. I don't play with neutralized stats. Sorry.

How about hits. Please tell me 200 is once again a good season and 230-250 is not a yearly thing.

I'll list the top 5:

Hits (season)

272 <-- some guy who IRL played in the 1880s
255

OMG, pinch me because I must be dreaming. This looks amazing pstrickert! Almost amazing enough to consider pre-ordering. I had wanted to take this version off, but if these things are truly patched up, I may find it difficult to resist.

I know you'll be busy with many other aspects of historical to test, but I wonder if you could try something for me when you get a chance. Could you see if you can start in say 1901 or even 1882 (the first year with sixteen teams in OOTP-fictional historical land) using 1984 as the base year for stats and strategies (if possible without messing up financials). Same settings for everything else. That will cinch the deal for me if things still look good. Maybe do a sixty year sim for comparison's sake.

Just for comparison's sake with my OOTP16 62-year dynasty, I've had 2 .400 hitters so far, nine 50+ HR hitters, nine 1.100+ OPS guys, six 150+ RBI guys, six 25+ Win guys, and 63 20+ Loss guys. I think the reason there are so many 20+ Loss guys is because the AI is far more loyal to SP than any RL manager would be. I would say OOTP19 looks to be in-line with what I have seen in OOTP16, although I will be cautious and say it is early, but the returns so far appear to be promising.

action, my plan was to redo the test every couple of weeks until release. Just to see if Markus or Matt "jiggled" something somewhere and broke something somewhere else (if you know what I mean). I can run the other test, though, the one you want to start in 1901 or 1882. Perhaps tonight or tomorrow.

Whenever you can do it is fine pstrickert. I'm quite encouraged so far. Thank you very much.

I'm running another test which will take a while. So, I'll check it out later and get back to you, David.
