"low energy" may not have captured what I dislike about him. I don't care for Rod either. It may simply be that his voice is weak and simply isn't a good fit for broadcasting; you can't do much about that. Broadcasting is tough to get right though, John Sterling has a great voice but is an awful broadcaster to listen to.

When did Justin Verlander switch to the high socks?

....and the AL Central is a race again. 4 teams over .500!
I'm actually in Ann Arbor this week. Was hoping to catch the day game at Comerica today, but it's not going to work out. Maybe next time. Last edited by TribeFanInNC; 05-25-2016 at 08:45 AM. |

I remember both of those combos. Of course there is no comparison! However, do you guys feel like baseball announcers are the last bastion freedom in terms of being able to show personality?

Oh but, no matter how bad Rod is. The worst by far on the planet is the guy that announces for the Indians. Tom Hamilton is so bad I actually for several seasons banned myself from having any Cleveland Indians on my AL only fantasy team. One year, I had several Indians. Heard Hamilton scream at the top of his lungs on some meaningless 3rd inning highlight and traded, dropped etc every single one. |

"It's a drive....DEEP to left-center....WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY BAAAACCKKK...and it's caught at the warning track for out number 3"
He's been known to get melodramatic to be sure ![]() The ironic part about the Indians broadcast is that Hamilton's sidekick makes melba toast seems exciting. Last edited by TribeFanInNC; 05-25-2016 at 11:33 AM. |

Since we're across the AL Central here anyway, Hawk Harrelson is right up the top of the list of audio annoyances. Right up there!
Can't decide between him and F.P. Santangelo for #1.

This was just mentioned on the broadcast today - apparently, he was looking for a little luck.

I'm liking this Fulmet kid. Talk is he may get sent back down once Greene comes back. Why not put Pelfrey or Sanchez in the bullpen (since, I'm sure they're both out of options) and keep Fulmer in the rotation while he's pitching so well?

With Verlander seemingly back to his old self, Zimmerman being Zimmerman, Pelfrey seemingly finding a good grove, Fulmer being amazing, and Boyd pitching like a fifth starter should, the rotation actually seems to be doing pretty well right now.
Now if the bullpen could get some consistency from everyone not named Rodriguez, we could be rolling.

Nice win in extras but don't overlook how well Boyd pitched in a no decision. If Norris can find his footing, that is quite a trio of young pitchers that DD left behind.

Time for my half-drunken, periodical rant:
I'm watching the game today. Now I'm not a fan of Ausmus nor am I totally against him, but I'm more hopeful than anything. But this really irks me about his decision making. Young is pitching (a fly ball pitcher), Moya on 1st & Iglesias batting. Is this the time to call a hit & run? Moya is no gazelle and Iglesias is a contact hitter but even if he makes contact, will it be a ground ball? Oh, by the way, Salvador Perez is the catcher! ![]() Maybe one of you who know more about baseball can clarify to me why this is a good decision? Last edited by DamPenguin; 06-19-2016 at 03:29 PM. |
