1906 - ABC Wild Card Game 2
Orlando Wizards (9-7) @ Los Angeles Bombers (9-7)
21 year old Mark Cruz gave Bombers fans a glimpse of the future after a midseason call-up where he hit .368 with a home run and 6 RBI in eight games. Los Angeles should be encouraged by the fact that the Bombers won 6 of 8 regular season games when Cruz was in the lineup. That continued in the playoffs today after Cruz was named Player of the Game after going 3-3 at the plate with 2 walks, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Bernardo Martines struck out 8 in the Bombers win. |

The Bombers do have a tough matchup against the Titans next round, but it's hard to rule them out based on how they've been playing.

1906 - ABC Division Round Game 2
Los Angeles Bombers (9-7) @ New York Titans (14-2)
The Bombers entered today's game against the Titans as one of the hottest teams in baseball, but were facing an uphill battle against the defending champions. The Titans would get on the board first in the bottom of the second when Bill Duke hit a solo home run and Jose Muniz tripled and scored on a single by Dan Swanson. The Bombers would fight back though with Eduardo Salas hitting an RBI single and Carlos Lopez hitting a sacrifice fly to tie the game at two. The game would remain tied at 2 until the bottom of the seventh when Adalberto Doll reached on an error, moved to second on an intentional walk, stole third base, and came home to score on a sacrifice fly. Erik Crawford did the rest and picked up the win while holding the Bombers to two runs while striking out 10 and winning Player of the Game. |

They definitely had a nice season, and I was surprised how much things seem to turn around with Cruz getting called up. I think they'll be right in the thick of things again next year.
