Okay, I'm not sure why all of the sudden I can't install the patch. I don't really want to download a downloader, I've never needed that before. Do you know why it would be needed with this patch, and has anyone else had this issue with the most recent patch?

Installed the game and first patch fine but get this error when trying to install the 2 patch. Any ideas, I am not a tech guy so I am clueless. Thanks.

For some reason, it has problems downloading such a huge file the normal way.

Problem isn't in the download, unless the file is getting corrupted during download. I HAVE NO ISSUE DOWNLOADING THE FILE (not yelling, just emphasis). Can't get it to run AFTER it downloads. Tried saving the file to the computer, still didn't work. Tried "Run as Admin", still doesn't work.

I'm just screwed aren't I?

It appears to be properly downloaded when in reality it is not. Which is why I had to use a download manager.

Okay, so even though it's the right size (938MB), it still isn't downloaded correctly?

Okay finally got it to work. I didn't use the downloader, I just didn't think that was it. I ran troubleshoot compatibility, and windows changed something and it was able to install. Thanks for the ideas, though.

I'm confused. Did something change with the way updates are downloaded and installed from previous versions? I just downloaded the game and purchased a license. Game had a popup come up saying a new patch was released today. OK, so I go and click on the link in the OP to this thread and it is downloading the same "exe" file I just downloaded to install the game in the first place. Am I missing something?

Yes, it has changed. You need to redownload the 900+MB file again to get the latest version.

Why isn't the latest version the version you download to install the game? And why would this "exe" program do anything different than it did an hour ago when I ran it the first time? I'm still confused.

Don't use the link in the email to download. Use the link in the OP in this thread.

Also right click on the exe file and then click Properties. Then go to the Details tab. The file version should be 9.3.2.0.

Not sure what you are getting at. I used the link on the main OOTP16 page on this website to download and install the game. Then I clicked on the link in this thread and it is downloading the exact same file, again. Still confused.

Check the version of the game you installed, version is on the startup page lower left corner. If it is version 16.2 build 9 then what you got is the latest version, if not you need to download from the link in this thread.

It isn't the newest version which makes no sense to me. Like why wouldn't the newest version be the default download. And if it is a different version then why is the download a duplicate of the original file?

Bottom left corner of the "home page" for OOTP16 says "version 16.1 build 5"

I don't know why the link you used originally is nt pointed at the latest version of the file. OOTPD released a patched version of the game, it is the full game (hence the same file name) at this point instead of a "patcher" but they hope to do that in the future if they can. The reason they gave for the full version is that they patched things that touched so much of the game (small bits) that that was the best way to do it.

It is possible that he downloaded the old file last time and he only ran the installation today.

No. I downloaded and installed the game an hour ago. Now I am downloading the same(?) setup file to supposedly patch me to the newer version.

OK well at least I can confirm that it did update my version. Just makes no sense to have to download the game twice to have the newest version.
