Hey,

Both links to the billionaires seem to be leading to version two.

Can you wait 5 more minutes for me to fix? The old lady and I just stepped out to smoke. I just have to fix the link.

All fixed. Thanks so much for letting me know. Been kind of spastic over here... QuestDog just did a project for me out of the blue to get me started on MY next project, so that was pretty awesome. But, its been crazy over here.

Enjoy! And let me know if you have questions!

I was toying with creating a set-up where the various independent leagues associate, but my goal was going to be having them use the rejected MLB draftees, but honestly, OOTP15 doesn't seem quite ready to handle running so many teams at once. (I tried several times, no luck, and my laptop is not very old and runs modern games with no issue.)

So that one is on hold. But I might try again, making it wholly fictional.

I will say this--TEST TEST TEST. Had I been working on this mid-dynasty when the crashes started, I'd have been mad.

After things are more stable, I want to re-visit that one and also do a new history of baseball league as well (seems popular these days).

In the meantime, I am going to do a small fictional in which the Pennsylvania State Association was resurrected in 1945 (it was a Western PA D-level minors that ended in 1942). I found it by accident, thought it would be cool to work on.

Sorry it took me a little bit longer to get things squared away. I've never created a quickstart that I was sharing, but I've uploaded it here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pmlhi150bd...2000.quick.zip

I went ahead and created the NFL teams, made some adjustments to the settings, and tested it out a few times running about 10 years at a time. Things seemed to work pretty well. I went ahead and created the divisions and team names to match the NFL, and added logos, uniforms, and caps. I was able to find a thread with all of the logos and uniforms, so all credit for those goes to Eriqjaffe. (I can't find the link to the thread tonight, but I'll take a look for the original and update).

I also went ahead and created some schedules here. These are basically the 2002-2014 schedules that you can download and put in the schedule folder, and they'll rotate.

A couple caveats. I started my league at the start of baseball, so finances were small. Things looked ok, but you may want to pay close attention to those settings. The other is the settings on the Stats & AI tab. I went with what I thought worked best, but you can experiment if you want bigger or smaller rosters, or pitchers with more/less stamina. If you keep it on Start Highest Rested you'll get one starting pitcher, unless there is an injury, or questionable starter.

The one area of pain that I found is the playoffs. If you have playoffs enabled tie breakers will be scheduled and that will result in extra games for some teams. Those games, and the playoffs will be scheduled like a baseball series, even if it's best of one. I think there are three options -
1) Disable the playoffs, figure out the tie breakers, and schedule the playoffs manually
2) Let the game schedule tie breakers and playoffs, and edit these to the weekend
3) Reset fatigue before you advance

That's been my biggest headache, but if you have any questions let me know. If you learn something that works well, let me know too.

I also should have asked what era to start, but I went with 2000 and fictional players. If you are looking for something else let me know.

Awesome. Thanks for this. Regarding the schedules, I just put them in the general OOTP schedule folder? Will that mess up schedules in any other league, or will the game automatically know only to use them for that Quickstart or 16 game leagues?

Yes, just put them in the OOTP schedule folder, and it'll pick them up. You may just want to check in the preseason and verify the schedule worked right. It shouldn't mess up any other schedules. It actually has to have an exact match - interleague, balanced, # of games, divisions, and sub leagues.

I was actually working one out around "The Belgariad" but I'm waiting for the patch. Multiple leagues, especially associated, just seem a bit too tweaky right now.

I might fiddle a bit with my California League thing I had come to me last week or so this weekend, but ... I have not bought 15 so far, and 12 is the only OOTP I have on this new laptop, so I would do it with that. I don't know. Do OOTP 12 quickstarts work with OOTP 15? Ah.

To be honest, I don't even know how to put a quickstart together.

Get to the point you would want to start from forever, and hit "Save Current Game as Quickstart."

I wonder what would happen if every day was like spring training, but played competitively. Expanded rosters and doubleheaders (can't do split-roster games) in warm climates 9 months of the year. Aside from the absurd records, I think it would fun to manage your squad for depth and development under such challenge. Not unlike how you have to in soccer with a clustered schedule of league and cup matches.

As someone who despises spring training, you're proposal horrifies me. You would need something like a 60-man roster just to stay alive with daily double headers for nine months =)

This is an awesome idea, I can not wait to do it. I think I will start a smaller league, maybe 8 teams total at first and then expand it over time. Set the age minimum to 35 maybe 34 and then give it a prestige level several notches below the MLB and see what happens. Might need to automatically fill rosters initially just to get enough players to play the first season but after that there should be enough old timers to keep it running. Probably use either just 1 level of minor leagues or reserve roster.

Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Maybe if you sim forward a few years there will be enough older players and retired (unretire them) for the league?

I would love to see the link to the post. I mostly play 12 team or 16 team fictional leagues and always struggle with market size, especially fluctuating a lot after simming twenty seasons or so. Please feel free to throw out any suggestions. Thanks.

On my phone at the moment. Search for the "knowledge thread" for 15... its something like "using draft budgets to set market size" it was a 13 or 14 thread.

I have a 16 team mlb that im using to do my story that I am quickstarting after 30 years of players sim out and I reset the history. But I did it with modern style budgets and I got as close to mlb settings as we can attain under the game structure... its pretty awesome.
