![]() Orval Overall came over to Washington in an offseason deal with Brooklyn. For the first time in his career, he’s a #1 pitcher, and he’s the biggest reason for Washington’s return to the World Series. The Senators are Overalls 5th team, and he hasn’t hit 30 yet!! I forgot to take a screen shot from the World Series screen, but the New York Giants were able to take the series in 5 over Washington. Shoeless Joe Jackson finished the series with a .524 OBP. They couldn’t get him out. ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 06-12-2014 at 02:35 PM. |

Wow, shades of 1908 - two pennant races that come down the final day. And poor Jack Chesbro. Is he always fated to pitch like a world-beater, only to lose the final, crucial game?

It figures though, that Chesbro has remained a Pirate in my game. It's weird to say a team with 2 championships was a disappointment, but they absolutely have been. Easily the most talent squad, these Pirates should have way more titles, and have blown it on several occasion. Jack Chesbro, having his finest season, blows the pennant on the last game of the year. It matches up to this Pirates team. They tend to blow it! |

I'd keep an eye on the Giants if I were you. Having Shoeless Joe Jackson and Chick Gandil on the same club is just asking for trouble.

1910-11 Offseason News and Notes
Cy Young has finally decided that enough is enough. He retires from baseball at age 43. After Cy tore his flexor tendon in his elbow during spring training 1902, he was never the same. He won the AL pitcher of the year award in 1901. Cy only made 71 more MLB starts. He had a great career, but injuries really derailed them. Here’s a look at his final career numbers. ![]() Old Pete, better known as Grover Cleveland Alexander was the 1st pick in the 1910 draft. He is now a member of the Cleveland Naps. Here is the 1st round. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 06-13-2014 at 10:53 AM. |

1911 Preview
![]() Highlanders legend Ed Delahanty lost his starting spot to Shano Collins, who hit .241 last season. This really hurts Big Ed’s chances of reaching 4000 hits. ![]() If Boston Rustlers Ty Cobb, and Gavvy Cravath have monster seasons like that, the Rustlers will have the best team in baseball. Top Player ![]() Ty Cobb, it’s gonna be like this for a while. Top Pitcher ![]() Walter Johnson has officially arrived, and he’s the top pitcher in baseball. 1911 Regular Season
June 13th. Devastating news out of Chicago. Walter Johnson has torn an elbow ligament, that will keep him out of action for at least 10 months. This is the type of injury that can change careers. Johnson, only 23, was baseball’s best pitcher coming into this season. It will be a long time before we know if he can get his career back on track. August 24th. More injury news. Shoeless Joe Jackson, of the 1st place NY Giants, is hit in the head with a pitch. Jackson was knocked unconscious, and stretchered off the field. Doctors are saying Jackson’s season is over, and they won’t know the severity of the injury until sometime in the new year. Jackson was hitting .386 at the time, and the Giants led the Rustlers by 2 games in the National League. ![]() It was quite the season in Boston. Ty Cobb became the first player since Nap Lajoie’s record setting 1901 season to hit .400. Ty ended up hitting .410. Problem is, he only played 108 games. Ty has been a bit injury prone during his career. He’s only played more than 126 three times in his 8 years. Maybe a full season of Ty Cobb gets Boston back to the series. Gavvy Cravath, sets the new HR in a single season record with 28! He also knocks in 143 runs, which is only 4 behind Cap Anson’s 1887 record. With Cobb and Cravath doing such great things, the Rustlers still miss out on a world series trip, and we will get to watch the first battle of New York! Here are the AL and NL leaders. ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 06-13-2014 at 10:58 AM. |

![]() Without Shoeless Joe Jackson, the battle of NY maybe one sided. Jackson’s replacement, Danny Moeller, is a .202 career hitter. The Giants are also missing front line pitcher Casey Patten and starting catcher Yip Owens. The Highlanders are healthy. Last edited by George_Bell; 06-13-2014 at 10:59 AM. |

1911 World Series
![]() That’s about as dominant a team can be in the World Series. The Highlanders outscore the Giants 28-5. Oddly enough, the Giants held leads in three of the four games. Last edited by George_Bell; 06-13-2014 at 11:00 AM. |

1911-12 Offseason News and Notes
Ed Delahanty only played in 37 games during the season. 17 hits in 61 at bats. He can still hit, but time is running out in his chase for 4000. He’s days away from turning 44. Dutch Leonard, Wally Schang and Cy Willams all join the majors this year. The Red Sox select Reb Russell first overall, a pitcher I’ve never heard of. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 06-15-2014 at 09:44 AM. |

1912 Season Preview
![]() Some wide open races this year. It looks like there is a good amount of parody in the AL. ![]() I'd love to see a race between the Giants and the Braves. MLB Top Player ![]() Shoeless Joe takes the reigns from Ty Cobb this year, right after Ty has a career year. Interesting. MLB Top Pitcher ![]() Walter Johnson has 1 week left on the DL. He’ll rehab a bit in the minors and hopefully be back in the Cubs lineup by May. Last edited by George_Bell; 06-15-2014 at 09:46 AM. |

1912 Regular Season
A set back delayed the return of the "Big Train", but Walter Johnson returned the the Cubs on June 1st. He threw 120 pitches, and all 9 innings in a 13-2 win over the Braves. Cincinnati needed to beat Pittsburgh on the final day of the season to clinch, but Noodles Hahn did infact get the win over Jack Chesbro 8-1, to clinch the pennant. Another Pittsburgh collapse, they had the league lead half way through September, and a win over the Reds on the last day would have forced a playoff. ![]() Cleveland makes their first ever World Series, while the Reds try to win their first, having lost to the Highlanders twice. ![]() ![]() Walter Johnson returns in great form, while Ty Cobb hits over .400 for the second straight season.
