Don Sutton couldn't shut the Jays down completely, but he kept them off the board long enough for the Orioles to get a comfortable lead, eventually winning 9-5.

Matt Robinson got his 5th homer of the season and Skip McBeath has now hit safely in 20 straight games.

WP - Don Sutton (4-7)
LP - Pete Vuckovich (4-6)

Record - 19-23

The Red Sox got to Ed Whitson early but the Jays struck back against Steve Carlton. All in all this wasn't a good day to be a pitcher as Toronto beat Boston 9-8. Oscar Gamble and Matt Robinson went deep for the Jays.

The Blue Jays defense tried to give the game away as two errors led to a grand slam, but it didn't matter as Phil Niekro completely shut down the Toronto offense and Boston won 9-0.

Ron LeFlore has a bruised forearm from a Niekro pitch. He is expected to miss a week.

WP - Phil Niekro (5-6)
LP - Mike Parrott (3-6)

Record - 21-27
