A few notes from me about the season so far. Sitting at 11-11 I’m exactly where I said I wanted to be when Ruth came back, but somehow I’m disappointed. The Defense is scary sometimes, about the only players I have confidence in (I’m talking don’t cringe when the ball is hit their way are Everett Scott at SS, but he can’t hit his way out of a paper bag…a wet one at that, 1B Stuffy McInnis at first (He’s my harry Hooper in the infield) and Harry Hooper in RF, matter of fact Harry has made so many great plays and awesome throws I have just come to assume an out when the ball goes that way and see ing a runner thrown out on a ball hit to him is just an everyday occurrence and not surprising at any point now.
We’ve got what I think is a good relief core but I’m hesitant to use them some times since the starters can be so effective. Burliegh Grimes is turning into the best pitcher in the league who can’t buy a win. Of his 26 runs given up this year only 12 are earned…sad ….the whole rest of the team only has 10 un-earned runs combined!!!!!! Now on a side not this forum really pisses me off sometimes, there are times when I get a nice Big post ready for this thread and something happens and it gets all messed up of just disappears totally. Oh well such is life. And Now back to the action. Our pitching staff is getting ready to get tested for sure as we have games on 37 consecutive days, and if you include the 10 we just played that’s a month and a half of playing every day….damn those guys were IRON MEN back then! The only teams we’ve played so far are Philly,Washington and New York…were getting ready to head west to St Louis, Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago so some fresh faces to play against soon! Right now it’s one more game against the Senators and P Doc Ayres

Yeah ... the defense is scary ... The pitching is holding well together though, with timely hitting ... hence, .500 team is the result ... Maybe, with Ruth coming off the DL ... we may see close games, turn into Sox favor ... BUT you're doing well ...

1918 Regular Season Game 23
The Doctor is in! ![]() Senator Pitcher Doc Ayers was good enough for long enough tolast until Boston went into the usual “Self-Destruct” sequence. This gamefollowed the usual course. Tie game 1-1 going into the 8th. Red Soxget two, two-out base runners and can’t capitalize. And of course the Managerhas to get in on the action of helping the Melt down by allowing starting Pitcher Leonard to batleading off the 8th. The next 3 batters Leonard faced in the bottomof the 8th went single, single, double and what proved to be theeventual winning run scored on a WP by Leonard. This Manager needs to learnit’s OK to PH for your pitcher sometimes! ![]() ![]() Up Next 4 games against George Sisler and the St Louis Browns

1918 Regular Season Game 25
Hooper Comes through in the "Clutch" ![]() Harry Hooper’s Clutch Hit and Run Double with Lee Magee on 1stended the scoreless game in the bottom of the 9th to a jubilated RedSox Stadium. Hooper has been the epitome of dependability in an unpredictable season for Boston. Carl Mays went 8, 2 hit innings for the no decision as Walt Kinney came out of Lf after George Whiteman pinch hit for Mays to pitch the final inning and get the win. ![]() Todays Games ![]() Tomorrow is an Off day Note: Babe Ruth is scheduled to return in 3 days,
just in time for a 4 game weekend series with Ty Cobb and his Detroit Tigers

Thanks! I'm having a Ball doing it! I wanted it to be Unique but simple, Informative and fun too...without being over run with information as it would become tedious work on my end and it really enhances my enjoyment to not have to work too hard at it. Now that I've gone through the growing pains of kind of learning how to use paint, I get to spend more (or as much) time actually playing as opposed to getting post ready. Well with the exception that damn Heptangular report…I finally figured out that I don’t have to put all the crap in one post and it went smooth but that was tedious stuff. And a heartfelt Thanks to you (and all the others thatfollow…Yes even you… NYY#23 You hated Yankee fan you!), Knowing even one personenjoys it makes it worth wild!

1918 Regular Season Game 26
Gerber Double Croses Grimes! ![]() Burleigh Grimes ’luck just keeps getting worse. In a Rare game where his Team made nary an error, In a game where his GM finally Pinch Hit for him in the bottom of the Eight of yet another low scoring game. In games where that pinch hitter, GeorgeWhiteman, came out of his slump by hitting his first Home Run of the year totie the game. In a game where his team continued the rally and got him a second run and put him in a position for his first win…. The Bull Pen blew it! The Sox drop to 12-14 after this devastating loss. And all this chaos was started by unconventional cross handed batting Wally Gerber! Babe Ruth’s return can’t get here soon enough for the Team or the Fans; He is scheduled to join the team tomorrow for the opening game of a 4 game series with the Detroit Tigers and Ty Cobb. The jury is still out on weather Ruth will pitch in that game, but the fans are clamoring for it, Ruth could be just the injection oflife this team needs! He’s defiantly got the fans talking baseball again! ![]() Todays Games ![]() BABE RUTH RETURNS TOMORROW!
