I just played two games and in both games, my name is listed on the team controls just like I left them. I remember we used to have to change them from the manager all the time.

Ah, man. Wonder mine's not doing it and the feature/bug is still listed in the reports. Hmm...Are you using GM mode? Mine's selected. Maybe that has something to do with it. This is good thing, if it's done. Well, obviously it is for you.

Yes and I have myself listed to control all the ML team stuff as well. Remember, by default that goes back to AI manager control.

I know it's an argument in semantics, but this isn't really a staggered release. The patch is done and has been released. Problem is that Markus apparently isn't able to make the App patch available directly. It has to go to Apple for them to post. As I say, I'm guessing this is a contractual obligation, as there's no other reason I can think of not to post the patch here for App'ers.

I believe the shoe actually was on the other foot a couple of years ago. Well, not MY foot exactly! OOTP9 was available on Steam and the same situation existed. If I recall correctly, those who had purchased the Steam version had to wait for Steam to post the update. As stated previously, buying the game directly from Markus is the preferred way to go. I will say that OOTP has always done a good job of providing support to people who've purchased the game through these 3rd parties. I imagine some companies would tell folks to take their problems to Apple or Steam, but I haven't seen anything like that here. It's unfortunate that there seems to be an unavoidable delay in getting all versions patched, but that seems to be out of Markus's control.

I believe there was a thread a short time ago where it was pointed out that it was possible to have more than one version of OOTP installed at a time. If so, perhaps something like that would help folks in more than one league (i.e. one install patched and one not). Sorry, don't have a link to the thread. Maybe someone can point the way.

I posted that exact question in this thread asking if I could run multiple copies of OOTP13. Andreas posted that it CAN be done and that he would update the manual ASAP with the process. That would allow players in multiple leagues to upgrade OOTP13 for each online league as the commish of the league does it.

I am just waiting on the procedure from Andreas.

Thanks Byzeil. Figured I'd seen that recently, but didn't realize it was in this same thread. Hopefully something like that would benfit folks like the person in Isryion's league who has to wait on the Apple App people to check out the patch.

I'm starting to repeat myself at this point, and even though I think it's a bit unfair for someone who's paid the same price as the rest of us (both from an update and licensing perspective) it's not a big deal so I'll leave it at that and simply hope that I hear back from someone who has an official answer as to whether there is a way or not for them to update that we are unaware of. And at worst, when we might expect to see that patch.
The thing you really need to understand is, this is NOT a staggered release. The OOTP Patch has been released by OOTP Developments, period. If third party distributors decide to hold it back, that is out of Markus' control. He released the patch. Suggesting that it be held back from everyone until some 3rd party distributor gets around to releasing it is nonsense.

I understand these issues and think they've been discussed plenty at this point. If you want to pick apart the semantics of my statement that's fine, but that doesn't change the differences in the product in the app store nor does it answer either of my questions.

Historical League - Entire Minor League is "Angry"

I believe this was from my submitted ticket.

Whenever I tried to start my league in 1973 I was seeing 95% of the minor league players "Angry". The other 5% were one step up from "Angry". Not sure what that level is, "Very Mad" maybe?

Even thou they still start out "Angry" it appears the fix for this issue is the addition of this:

Added a "Reset Player Morale" function to the league setup screen

Clicked the button and all players were reset to "Normal" status. Haven't tried to sim forward yet, hopefully they don't all resort back to "Angry" status after a few days.

Cool!! I can finally start playing this game for what I intended to use it for when I purchased it.

Just wanted to bring this new feature to everyone's attention and thank the OOTP team.

Hear hear. Wasn't this primarily the reason behind not using Steam?

I'm not picking anything apart, I'm just giving you another reason to go along with the many already listed, as to why they shouldn't wait.

The product in the App Store is the same, it's just the people who run the App Store that are slowing its release.

• Added two new player split stat categories, "As Starter" and "As Reliever / Substitution"; these only work for the current season, though

Well, is this just for this 2012 season, OR will it finally be the long awaited info on how a pitcher are doing when he is starting contra relieving ???

I do hope so since this a very basic info IMHO.

"Staggered Release" is what I was getting at with the semantics point.

Actually, as I've looked into it more (and posted), I've also read a thread or two that mentions you don't get multiple licenses. In addition to maybe not being able to take part in online games for a week or two after the patch, to me, that's at least a slightly different product.

If this is true, then the same thought process would apply to the App Store and these issues should have been weighed (and probably were) in that decision.

Which, I guess, is part of my long-winding and now overbeaten (and relatively minor) point for those that are saying it's not a developer's fault when they make these kinds of decisions. In my opinion, they are absolutely responsible in that they made the initial decision to allow that party to sell their product. Now, obviously that's up to them and the decision can certainly be made knowing that will be an issue and that'd they'd have to deal with a few (or one!) complaints about it. However, if they get to a point where a significant number of copies are sold via the App store, then this will be bigger issue than it is now.

In searching the issue of Steam out, I did find two things. One that this was in fact part of the issue (at least for some customers, this isn't from development): http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ing-steam.html

The other was the fact that it appears they're looking at Steam again: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...reenlight.html

They are responsible, they released the patch to the App Store at the same time as they released it here. It is NOT OOTP's responsibility to chase after Apple and tell them when to release a patch. OOTP released it to all distributors at the same time. So how is OOTP not being responsible? They don't run Apple, they can't tell Apple when to release the patch, that's an Apple policy.

Again, it is NOT a staggered release. The patch gets released to everyone at the same time.

As I said, you're talking semantics with the staggered release. Not everyone has access to the patch right now, which was my point. My fault for using the staggered release term which has you hung up.

Obviously they don't run Apple, but I assume that Apple didn't hide their policies or is selling the game against their will. They have control over where their product is sold and they likely knew this would/could happen. As I said, assuming they knew it at the time, it gives them some responsibility. I point that out as there's apparently really nothing that can be done here, but imo, that fact should be considered in that initial decision (or if they would have the same issue with Steam if they move to that site) for future editions.

EDIT: To be clear, I didn't call them "irresponsible," but they do have control over where the game is sold and that control does give them responsibility. And, none of this really answers my basic questions yet, of which, I'll assume the answer to the first is "no" and the second is "?"

Only a small (but of course important) part of our customers use the App Store version. Most of them never join an online league. Should we really let all our customers wait two weeks for the patch, for those really small group of online league playing App Store customers?

The commishes could easily tell their GMs not to update if there are App Store customers in the league, until the App Store version is updated.

Of course we have the possibility to release the patch for all users at the same time. We would just have to wait with the release until all distributors have the update available. But I bet that 98% of our customers do not want that.

This keeps getting conflated, so just to clarify: the issue is just if you buy through Apple's App Store, not the Mac version in general. I have a Mac and I've never used the App Store.

Edit: Andreas beat me to it.

Thanks for any assistance on this one.
Has he tried to export and did it fail?

Despite what Markus said about everyone in the league needing to be on the same version, we found that exports from 3.39 worked just fine when the commish was running 4.17. At least, that is what our commish said when a couple people said they exported before updating. I don't know how many, if any, were MAC users.
