We were served grumblecakes and we ate them down. I don't even know what that means and it makes too much sense.

I don't know you but I'm sure that's a great way to sum it up.

Would also apply to me at 15.

But we never know, they might get lucky!

After 2 horrible, horrible losses, we come back and take 2 from the Sox is Boston. Nice!

Our 9th inning closer problems might bite us in the butt later in the year.

9th inning is a problem but I love Cook in the 8th.

So it sounds like they are going to DL Crisp and Michael Taylor is going to join the A's in Tampa. I really, really hope he plays every day and doesn't just ride the bench. He's been swinging a hot bat in Sac and I still have a glimmer of hope that he'll turn into something useful.

dola,

Also have to share this from my solo league:

That's on May 1, 2012. And that's all of baseball, not just AL! If only...

I can't believe I only found this thread just now! Huuuuuuge A's fan. First baseball game in the 1980's... Dave Winfield and the Yankees were in town. I was hooked ever since. Went to Game 1 of the Bay Bridge World Series in 1989 (Stew pitched a shutout), and was there to watch the Reds celebrate winning the Series against the A's the next year (second worst moment ever after Gibson's HR off Eck). Also went to Spring Training every year as a kid and posed next to Canseco's red jaguar (sweeeeet) and got turned down for an autograph by Jose (not sweet).

Breathe.

Okay... just wanted to get that out there. Enjoying watch the A's beat the Red Sox in retro uniforms on MLB.tv (yesterday's game archived).

GO A'S!

I second G&GH. I'm reading your 1992 dynasty thread and hope we can cheer together as the A's surprise people this year.

First rule of A's thread. Never mention this moment. Look what you did to poor mirrf. Now we have to coax him out from under his desk by showing him Cespedes' HR off the face of Mt. Davis.

All kidding aside. Great to have you aboard.

And I'm serious about the thing that happened in '88. I haven't bought a box of Wheaties since they put that picture on the box.

If that's what it takes to cue up a replay of Cedpedes' moonshot, so be it

But seriously, I feel the same way. I cringe everytime my co-worker even mentions her Dodgers (1, for Gibson and 2, for giving away Ethier for Milton effing Bradley). I promise to never utter another word here about said event.

That said, thanks for the warm welcome! I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and can count on one hand how many fellow A's fans were in my class... all were Giants fans, even during the late 80's. We are a rare breed.

Well that's now two or three duds in a row for Ross. Is it time to send him back to AAA? I wonder if Peacock is ready.

5-4 road trip? We'll take it. Those east coast trips are usually brutal for the A's.

I'll take 2 of 3 from anybody. Even better when they have the league leading record.

Inge with a freaking walkoff gran slam? A comeback win in the bottom of the ninth after giving the lead away in the top? I don't know who these guys are, but I like them.

Saw the reply while watching MLB Network's Quick Pitch show last night. First two thoughts, Brandon Inge? and G&GH will be happy.
