Holy smokes, I forgot about him. Well, he's now a plus or a neutral, from this point on. No down side. And see below for the not-so-spectacular season line on Montero, whom we gave up for Pineda. It's too early, obviously, for a final judgment on the trade but I'm feeling much better about it now.

Good point. That's not the kind of talk I want to see in my thread. Because of their so-called "reputation," fair or not, Yankees fans must have a higher standard to maintain in terms of classiness and sportsmanship. In my opinion. People who disagree with me, and who do not like the Yankees, are not bigots for doing so. *

* That said, I would like the same consideration in return. I don't necessarily expect that I will get it, but I would like it. I will always try to uphold my end of the bargain, regardless. It would really help if people would turn down the volume and soften the nature of their commentary. Stop the macho warrior hateful crap.

This is one heck of a game. I don't know if I can last until the end . . . gotta get up and go to work in the morning! Just want to give props to Kuroda for pitching one heck of a game, Girardi for finally doing what he had to do with A-Rod, and Ibanez, who pitch-hit for A-Rod in the bottom of the ninth and came up with a dramatic game-tying home run. Girardi doesn't make that move, the game would already be over.

I have to give props to Ibanez for his no-stylin' winning home run. He showed nothing until he rounded 1st. There are plenty of players who could learn a thing or two from him about how to act professionally in a huge moment.

Color me impressed.

You know, Bru, there's life after working all your damned life. That is, retirement! Something to look forward to, such as being able to stay UP one more inning or so and actually see the dramatic end of a great game!

Amazing game that I was lucky enough to be in Yankee Stadium to witness yesterday! Unbelievable atmosphere.

Nothing like walking around the Bronx after the game listening to "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH OOOOOOOOOOOOOL" for an hour. Hoping they seal it up tonight.

You know, if I were Joe's father, I would want him to do exactly what he is doing, regardless. Let me rephrase that. If my son was doing what Joe is doing right now, I would want him to continue doing it, keep focused. Wow, this feels like the World Series itself. Well, it comes down to a showdown tonight. I've been saying all along, though, that the Yankees could be in trouble, relying on the long ball as they do. Again last night, they could not produce in the clutch, could not manufacture the one lousy run that they needed to win it.

The Orioles are the same exact way, which is why all these games have been going right to the wire. Looking for more of the same tonight!!

Yes, and that guy is a workhorse. A CG in the playoffs, the final game of a series? How often do you see that? I don't think he was coming out of the game even if we had Mo to Go.

Some more notes to share with Yankees fans:

Teixeira, with 21 stolen bases in 10 years, notices Hammel ignoring him at first and then steals the biggest base of his career to set up a RISP for Ibanez to cash in with a single. More of this type of hustle and heads-up ballplay, please.
Ichiro, a key RBI tonight. Continues his hot-hitting. I remember some of you guys questioning this trade, saying he was too old. More of Ichiro, please.
Jeter, who some of you guys have been a defensive liability for years, made a game-saving play on a tough grounder by J.J. Hardy with the bases loaded, two outs, top of the eighth to just nip him at first. That play, and the barely-foul long fly ball by McLouth, were the turning points of this game.
Granderson redeemed himself with his HR. Yankee fans have really been browbeating him and for good reason; he's really been stinking up the place with his K's. He and Kevin Long have some work to do.
A-Rod in four games of this series: 2 for 16, .125 BA and .125 slugging, 9 strikeouts. My gosh, what are we going to do with this guy for the next five years if he's washed up?

Good points all. IMO, the A-Rod situation is a big problem, albeit one that I think many of us saw coming, though I thought the guy would still be productive at least till he was 39, 40. Still, I believe that's a situation the Yankees will address after the postseason.

For now, Girardi needs to keep "playing to win" and put the best possible lineup out there every night, because this offense is still struggling. Fortunately, it seems like Granderson's out of his funk and hopefully, Yankee hurlers will keep up the good work vs. the Tigers.
