It wasn't, but some people are grouchy and overreact.

Although I voted quite some time ago for this, choosing both Forward/back buttons and Icons at the bottom as the features I use most, I must say that the more I play this game, the more I find the "Recent" menu being an invaluable navigation tool. Just throwing that out there.

Keyboard / Mouse Shortcuts
My dream would be to use the forward/back buttons on my mouse to move through OOTP. I never thought I'd use them that much browsing the web, but once you have them you'll never go back. It would be awesome if OOTP had the same thing.
I use bookmarks because the F# keys are the only keyboard shortcuts in the game.* More keyboard and mouse shortcuts are definitely on my OOTP wishlist. * -- One thing I noticed in OOTP 10: It's no longer possible to bookmark the "Major League Scores" (It's the baseball on the bottom toolbar) page. When you try and bookmark that page it takes you to the scores from that day (i.e. even on Sept 1 the page will show the scores from Apr 30 or whatever day you bookmarked it). In previous versions of OOTP it would just bookmark the Major League scores page so that whenever you activated the bookmark you would be on the scores for THAT day. I'd appreciate that feature back. |

I'm noticing lately that I'm hitting Save a lot. I'd appreciate the ability to press CTRL-S to save.

While I marked that I use the back/forward buttons (in addition to marking "icons at bottom"), this isn't entirely accurate . . . .
One of my biggest interface moves is the backspace key which performs the back function. So basically, I echo those who like the keyboard shortcuts. |

Hotkeys, hotkeys, hotkeys, and more hotkeys. And for the love of all that's good in the world, make them customizable.
I want to be able to assign virtually any hotkey I want to any page. And no, the ten F-keys from bookmarks isn't nearly enough. |

Personally, I'd like to have more customization options over the toolbar at the top as well as the bottom. Ultimately, being able to create my own interface with the "built-in" necessities would be ideal.

My idea
While I find myself using the Forward/Back arrows (w/ mouse) very frequently, I also get a bit frustrated that there isn't an intuitive way to get with one button or keystroke, back to the "top" of the pages I was browsing.
For example: I mainly use the Forward/Back to search a player or players on my team or a possible pickup player. I move back and forth between the various "subpages" (contract, scouting report, summary, etc.). Here is where the frustration comes in. Once I have drilled down to the various detail pages, I can't get back to the default top player page without using another pull-down menu or other option. Using the Back arrow takes you through EVERY page, which, granted, can be useful in itself, but it would be nice to get back to a player top page in one step. Hope this makes sense. |

Now that I think about it, I could really put cusomizable hotkeys to use. There are a lot of keys that could be programmed without cluttering up the screen with buttons, or needing to go to a menu then drop-down list.

Please don't remove any features. I currently haven't been using bookmarks and recent pages and what not, because I just haven't gotten around to exploring them. Now this thread has piqued my interest and it seems there are a lot of nice features that could be real handy. I will be happily exploring those features now.
Customizable would be real nice in regard to design of available buttons/menus. There are some things like the front office and pitching icons at the bottom that I use all the time. But there are others on the screen that I use less frequently that could be replaced ones that I use all the time, such as lineup vs RHP, and roster, etc. Some of the menus that are buried behind another screen are annoying. For example when I want to see the pending free agent offers, I first need to navigate to free agents list, which takes a long time to load up, before I can proceed to the screen I really want. I'm not sure the lack of votes for the bookmarks and "recent" are indicative of lack of value. I would guess those are features that people just haven't caught on to and become familiar with yet.
I went for a long time, scrolling through pages, sorting and manually scanning pages, flipping from team to team, league level to league level looking for someone or something. Then one day i noticed the search box. Wow! What a big difference that made once I discovered it and unleashed it's power. By the way, I hope you never remove that feature! |

In addition, I'd suggest to also make them a little bigger. They're a little small compared to browser forward and back buttons.

The one thing where I think it could be improved greatly is in context-sensitive changes. What I mean is for example when you switch from viewing hitters to pitchers, it should switch from showing hitting ratings (or stats) to showing pitching ratings (or stats) automatically.
Also, the UI needs some kind of back button keyboard shortcut, rather than having to mouse up to the upper/left side of the screen. |

Also, one of the things that generally bugs me about OOTP is the clutter. There are far too many options. It might be helpful to reduce the UI to be far more streamlined, but have some method of opening up 'advanced' options. I'm a huge fan of the way Google and 37signals create user interfaces, and simplicity in UI is a golden, beautiful thing.
