w00t...Can't Buy that Win!!

---
The Georgles ft. the lyrics of MorseMoose
Sung to the tune of "Can't By Me Love" by The Beatles

Can't buy that win, win
Can't buy that win

George'll buy a diamond play'r my friend if it makes him feel alright
He'll get the Yanks anything my friend if it makes him feel alright
'Cause he don't care too much for parity, parity can't buy him wins

He'll give you all he's got to give if you buy a overpriced tic'
He may not have a lot to give but what he gots he'll give to you
He cares a lot about money, money can buy him wins

Can't buy tonight's win, the Angels showed us so
Can't buy everyone win, no no no, no

Say you need a diamond play'r and George'll do just so
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can't buy
George don't care too much for parity, parity can't buy him wins

Can't buy that win, win
Can't buy that win
---

Screw the upcoming critics...I put it together quick . It wasn't meant to make complete sense.

Pretty good game. Too bad the Yankees lost it, but that's ok. Congrats on the win Angels fans. That was a little more like the Angels team I was expecting (they can still play a lot better though which is scary). I am personally hoping for the Yankees to bounce back tomorrow though Nevertheless tho, it was a good game. This board is getting a little annoying though with all the pointless and really unwarranted Yankees bashing, stupid immature stuff, but anyways, that's another topic. Just chiming into say it was a good game and I look forward to game 4! GO YANKEES!!!!!

Your right on all counts. Bru said it best, I didn't expect the Yankees to sweep either, but I can't get over a couple decisions by Girardi. Why not pinch run with Guzman instead of Gardner, that is why he is on the roster. At least Gardner could have come in as a defensive replacement and we wouldn't have lost the DH, and Mo wouldn't have had to come out. Then taking out Robertson when he was rolling.

In the end we still may have lost, but those were just bad moves. The Angels are a lot better team than they have been playing. I still feel pretty good about the series with CC on the mound tomorrow, but I can't take too many more of these extra inning games.

Tomorrow is crucial for the Angels I think. If they win then it it can go either way. If they lose then I don't see them rattling off three straight, let alone two back to back at the death star.

Angels definitely needed that win. I thought when they chances in the previous two innings (Abreu caught between bases + runner at third with no outs) and didn't cash in that they were done. They have more work to do though.

I don't understand at all how Girardi uses his bullpen. Why does he only let guys throw to like two batters at a time? He ran himself down to only having Chad Gaudin left today. I don't really get it.

I don't get it either. This is the second game in a row where Gaudin was the only option at the end of the game. I like Girardi, and thought he did a decent job managing the bullpen this year and last, but a lot of his moves this series with the bullpen have made no sense.

I can decide if he is playing like there is no tomorrow, or just trying to out manage Scioscia. Taking out a lefty who threw one pitch when the next batter is a lefty? Then taking out Robertson after getting the first two guys out. Just frustrating to watch.

Well, since the Yankees arent living by the same rules as almost everyone else, they deserve it. They dont have to build from within. They dont have to suffer through down seasons. They just buy whomever they want. They are the rich kids on the block whose parents can afford to buy them whatever they want. Its only natural that this causes resentment and a feeling that the Yankees havent really earned their success as an organization. Its unfair to judge the Yankee fans by these standards though.

I get hating the Yankees, and I don't have a problems with that. They have advantages that other teams do not, and probably never will have. There really is no defense going out and signing whatever free agent they want, other than they are doing it with their money.

I do have to say though that they are playing by the rules that are in place. They know if they go over x dollars it is going to cost them x +25% for every move they do. While those rules may not be great or fair those are the rules, and they are playing by them. That is why I hate the paying off the umpires, or cheating comments. Does anybody really believe they are paying off the umps? They are just playing by the rules that are in place, however unfair that is to teams in places like Minnesota, Florida, or Pittsburgh.

But I agree with you on fans. A lot of Yankee fans in general drive me nuts (not saying on this board, but just in general), but I couldn't stop rooting for the Yankees if I tried. I've liked them since I was a kid and remember plenty of those bad times. So if someone wants to hate me because I'm a Yankee fan it wouldn't be the first time, and it won't be the last, but it does seem kind of pointless.

Meh. The Yankees have built from within as much as any of the other teams remaining in the postseason. More than half of their ALCS roster have never played at the major league level for any other club. I'm fine with people complaining about how much money the Yankees spend on player salaries, but the idea that the club is built entirely on buying pricey free agents just isn't true.

Phillies are definitely a tough team, and will be as long as they hang on against the Dodgers. I've seen them a lot, and when their bullpen is bad it can be really bad. I think either the Angels or Yankees can beat them, but I imagine there will be some ugly scores.

The Yankees, of course, can afford to KEEP the players they have developed in their farm system. Small-market teams often LOSE their best "homegrown" talent when they become eligible for free-agency. Plus, small-market teams have to think twice about keeping some of their "homegrown" talent. If they make a mistake (e.g., the Brewers signing Bill Hall to a big fat contract), it takes a painful toll on the team financially. The Yankees can make the same kind of mistake . . . and keep on rolling.

And yet, curiously, the Yankees minor league system in 2008 posted the best cumulative record of any Major League's club minor league organization: 406-287 .586 with two league champions and five of the seven affiliates finishing in the top four of their respective leagues.

Well it seems that nobody has a problem when the yankees are not that good like the late 60s' early 70's & most of the 80's. For all the complaining the yankees have only won 1 championship this decade. Its not impossible for small market teams to win. I have to agree that the yankees had some great talent come up but there is gonna come a time when the talent isnt as great and they may make bad choices in Free Agency like they did in the 80's.
Or at least the yankee haters can hope.

In recent years the Angels have lost Troy Glaus, KRod, Judas Teixeira, Washburn and the list going into this offseason is frightening.

Sounds similar to the Mariners. And then you get to spend the off season listening to Yankee and Red Sox fans speculating, "Who else can we get?"

Yes, and I think that's worth complaining about if you're concerned about revenue inequities in baseball. That is definitely a structural advantage the Yankees (and to a lesser extent, about six other large-market teams) have.
