I play the first two months, sim June to mid-September, and finish the season and play the playoffs. I use a mix of playing the whole game and simming pitching half-innings for the first 6 innings.

I selected "other".
I tend to do a mixture depends on how I feel or sometimes the team I'm playing against.
If I play out games I use the 1 pitch Eugene Church method.

I think Eugene Church should've copyrighted his method.

I play every inning of every game. Takes longer but I love working all the way through a season. I do use one-pitch mode, though.

I "watch" every game, but allow my manager to make all the calls, so I'm essentially a simmer. From time to time I may interecede to make a certain substitution, but rarely if ever do I play with the offense or defense options.

If it helps you in determining how many players play out their games, I do. I play out all 100% of every single pitch.

I play a fictional league. 40 games, 3 a week. I sim ALL games because if I play them I get bored after the first inning and sim it anyway. I let the AI control all of season aspects. During the season I control all the teams. I I like to expand by 2 teams every season or so but at 22 teams rebuilding the schedule each time is becoming a hassle. At this point I'm almost ready to quit and play football.

I started out playing all games with OOTP 9. I then began simulating 90%. I didn't feel there was enough immersion though. Now I usually play about 60% of games. All divisional games until September when I skip if out of the playoff race. (I like leagues with no wildcard so division games are crucial). Of course play all playoff games

I play out some games. Mostly one pitch but sometimes switch depending on the situation. Many times I don't have time to finish the game and finish by simming.

This is a fascinating poll. Even after almost 350 votes, you still have "exclusively sim" and "exclusively play out" with the highest totals... and they're still almost dead even! I was one of the "minority" who posted that I sim most and only play out the most important ones. Usually, the middle-of-the-road response seems to get the most votes and the extremes get the fewest (see politics) but this poll actually shows a dip at the center. Like someone said earlier, Markus was probably hoping for more of a tilt one direction or another to help him decide which direction to shift his focus. Obviously, he's gonna hafta continue working to keep both factions satisfied!

Btw, I just as easily could have chosen "other", because I actually don't do much playing or simming at this point. About 98% of my OOTP time (for the last few years, even) has been spend between setting up my fictional uber-league, making database edits, putting together (largely incomplete) mods, and creating designs for future versions. But when I DO play, I'm almost always GM-ing. I very rarely ever manage, even when I'm playing out the games.

With all this in mind, here's some feedback that I hope will be useful...

When (if?) OOTP ever gets to the point where I feel it can effectively simulate my universe to my satisfaction, I will probably do a little more playing out of games than I currently do (although I still doubt I'll engage in much actual managing.) That's why I have so many ideas about improving the in-game screens. So much of what I love about OOTP isn't about what it IS, but what it eventually could be.

I actually find most of the stuff that happens outside of the 9 innings that matter tedious and can't wait to slog thru them to get to playing a game. I'm still frustrated that I chose the wrong poll option...

I start out by getting the laptop out. Then I set it up and turn it on. Once it's booted up I click on the OOTP icon on the desktop. Once the menu page comes up I load the league, go to the schedule page and select my game. That's how I play.
