Chile
I'll post all results for Chile in one thread:
Arturo Godoy is the lone HW entrant. He's expected to do well in the World Tourney. At Cruiserweight Carlos Cruzat will be the entrant. Joel Mayo will be the Welterweight representative. Lightweights have 2 fighters: Stanislaus Loayza vs Carlos Uribe - Uribe absorbed a beating for 15 rounds, going down 4 times but gamely rising each time. The judges scored it 13-2, 12-3, 13-2 for Loayza who moves into the World Tourney. 2 Warriors will vie for the Bantamweight berth: Cardenio Ulloa vs Bernardo Manuel Mendoza - Ulloa overcame a 1st round knockdown and a furious assault by the over achieving Mendoza to win a narrow decision 8-5, 7-6, 8-5. Martin Vargas will represent Chile in the World Tourney at Flyweight. We have 4 fighters for the Jr. Flyweight Division: Alli Galvez vs Jose Badilla - Badilla came in a 3-1 underdog, and showed it early being knocked down in the 3rd. In the 4th however he scored the perfect hook to KO the favorite to enter the World Tourney! Jaime Miranda vs Fernando Sagredo - Sagredo put on a suprising display of courage against Miranda, but still went down and out in the 4th round. Final: Jaime Miranda vs Jose Badilla - Badilla fought hard to pull of yet another upset, but it wasn't in the cards on this night. I had the fight even 4-4 when in the 9th round Miranda opened a nasty gash over the right eye of Badilla to end things for the 9 TKO. |

Columbia - SMW Division
There are a pair of warriors vying for this berth.
Fulgencio Zuniga vs Samuel Miller - Zuniga came in as the favorite in this one, and took the first 3 rounds with ease. In the 4th round Miller landed bomb after bomb until the referee had no choice to stop it for the upset 4 TKO! |

Columbia - MW Division
We have 3 entrants for the Middleweight Division. Rodrigo Valdez is the top seed thus recieves the bye.
Edison Miranda vs Epifanio Mendoza - Miranda came out with a fury landing bomb after bomb that had the crowd wondering how he stayed on his feet! Finally the damage was so bad that the crowd was yelling for it to stop, which the referee did at 2:45 in the 1st round! Miranda meets Rodrigo Valdez next. Final: Rodrigo Valdez vs Edison Miranda - Valdez scored a knockdown early along the way to what I thought was an easy 10-4 decision. The fight went to the judges however, and they can be fickle at times. they scored it 11-4, 8-6, 9-6 making it far closer than it was for Valdez. Valdez is expected to do well as Columbia's Middleweight representative. |

Columbia - JMW Division
2 entrants for the Jr. Middleweights:
Joel Julio vs Juan Carlos Candelo - Julio was a 3-2 favorite coming in, but Candelo dictated the pace in this mostly defensive minded bout to win 9-5, 7-7, 9-5. Julio will fight in the World Tourney on behalf of his country. |

Columbia - WW Division
There are 6 entrants at the Welterweight class. The top 2 seeds, Jose Leonard Bermudez and Edwin Cassiani will recieve a 1st round bye.
Round 1: Newton Villarreal vs Ener Julio - This was a fast paced, entertaining fight that saw Villarreal down in the 6th and the 9th of a very close fight. In the 10th, Villarreal answered back with his own knockdown, but Julio was unable to beat the count for the 10 KO! Hugo Pineda vs Diego Castillo - Pineda dropped Castillo in 4 separate rounds in a spirited bout. Castillo gave as good as he got in several rounds, but still lost handily 13-1, 14-1, 11-3. Semi-Finals: Jose Leonard Bermudez vs Hugo Pineda - Brutal action in the 1st 3 rounds by both men! Pineda seemed the worse for wear however, and Bermudez asserted himself in the 4th, finally scoring a KO at the end of the round. Edwin Cassiani vs Newton Villarreal - Another barn burner here as both men hit each other with some hard shots. In the 3rd round Villarreal was down for an 8 count and the referee seriously considered stopping the fight but the bell rang. Villarreal came on strong, landing a wicked hook to floor Cassiani for the count in the 8th! Final: Jose Leonard Bermudez vs Newton Villarreal - In yet another brutal test of wills, Bermudez was building up a solid lead when he was dropped early in the 8th with most of the round left. Villarreal poured it on with Bermudez covering against the ropes, but it was beginning to look like he'd weather the storm when a picture perfect cross put Bermudez down a 2nd time in the round, this time for the 10 count! Villarreal moves into the World Tourney with 3 straight KO's against solid competition. |

Columbia - JWW Division
We have 12 fighters in the Jr. Welterweight Division. The top 4 seeds will have a 1st round bye. Columbia has had some of the finest Welters in the world over the years so this should be interesting. The byes go to Antonio Cervantes,Ravael Pineda, Juan Urango and Nicolas Cervera.
Round 1: Carlos Maussa vs Douglas Villarreal - Maussa needed all of 27 seconds to KO Villarreal to move into the next round. Ricardo Torres vs Jose Zuniga - Torres pounded Zuniga, scoring a knockdown in the 4th before the bout was ended due to cuts at the end of the 4th. Torres advances. Guillermo Mosquera vs Dario Esalas - Esalas scores the lone knockdown and takes 3 out of the last 4 rounds to win the split decision 9-6, 9-6, 7-8. Jorge Noriega vs Roberto Ortega - Noriega dominates in this one, scoring a pair of knockdowns before the fight is ended on cuts in the 9th round. Round 2: Antonio Cervantes vs Dario Esalas - Cervantes was sharp in this one, wearing Esalas down before scoring the KO in the 9th round. Juan Urango vs Jorge Noriega - Urango scores knockdowns in the final 3 rounds the pours it on in the 11th to score the 11 TKO. Rafael Pineda vs Carlos Maussa - Maussa scores a pair of knockdowns enroute to a dominating 10-4, 11-3, 10-4 decision over the favored Pineda. Nicolas Cervera vs Ricardo Torres - Cervera overcame 4 knockdowns to score one of his own and win the bulk of the rounds in winning a 6-7, 9-5, 8-5 split decision. Ahh the beauty of the rounds system.... ![]() Semi-Finals: Antonio Cervantes vs Carlos Maussa - Cervantes had little trouble with Maussa, winning a landslide decision 9-4, 11-3, 12-2. Juan Urango vs Nicolas Cervera - Cervera was doing a great job of working his way inside to score, then using subtle movement to make Urango miss in the first 3 rounds. Unfortunately for him he ducked into an uppercut that floored him for the count in the 4th. Final: Antonio Cervantes vs Juan Urango - Cervantes uses superior speed, defense and offense to pick Urango apart for 15 rounds, earning the 13-1, 13-1, 12-2 decision. Cervantes is expected to do quite well in the World Tourney. |

Columbia - LW Division
We have 9 entrants in the Lightweight Division. There will be a fight-in to set the field at 8.
Fight-in: Juan Polo Perez vs Eduardo Molina - Perez survived a 13th round knockdown to hold off the game Molina by the score of 9-4, 7-6, 7-6. Round 1: Breidis Prescott vs Juan Polo Perez - A fast and furious 1st round had everyone salivating and Prescott didn't let anyone down, scoring a knockdown early then pounding Perez unmercifully until his corner threw in the towel! Score it a 2 TKO. Hugo Barraza vs Rogue Cassiani - In a rather dirty fight by both men, Barraza exchanges knockdowns with Cassiani but holds on to win the majority decision 6-6, 9-6, 9-6. Esteban de Jesus Morales vs Jaime Rangel - Morales built up a 5-3 lead but faded as Rangel used power (2 knockdowns) and agressiveness to take 6 out of the final 7 rounds to win 9-6 on all 3 cards. Moises Pedroza vs Alfredo Pitalua - A brutal fight that had both men cut and bruised, with Pitalua going down 4 times and Pedroza 2 times! Pedroza was behind 7-6, 7-6, 6-7 when a cut over Pitalua's left eye reopened and the bout was ended handing Pedroza the 14 TKO. Semi-Finals: Breidis Prescott vs Jaime Rangel - Prescott's right eye was a mass of blood as Rangel successfully reopened and widened the cut under the eye repeatedly through this grueling bout. Rangel, the 2-1 underdog had opened a 7-5, 7-5, 6-6 lead when the fight was stopped for the TKO in the 13th. Rangel continues his improbable rise. Hugo Barraza vs Moises Pedroza - Barraza dominated this one despite being knocked down in the 4th, winning the decision 11-4, 12-3, 9-4. Final: Jaime Rangel vs Hugo Barraza - Rangel came in the underdog yet again, but dominated, cutting Barraza in the 1st, knocking him down in the 3rd, then reopening the cut in the 4th. The doctor ordered the fight stopped at that point handing Rangel the 4 TKO and the Lightweight berth in the World Tourney. |

Fight-in: Felipe Orozco vs Carlos Rocha - Orozco had an easy time of it against Rocha leading 10-2, 10-2, 12-1 when the fight ended in the 15th due to a reoccuring cut over the right eye of Rocha. 15 TKO for Orozco who earns a spot in the semi-finals. Semi-Finals: Oscar Leon vs Felipe Orozco - Leon was simply too strong for the game Orozco. Leon lead 5-3, 6-2, 7-1 when he scored a knockout in the 9th. With 7 fighters in this weight class top seeded Ricardo Cardona will recieve the bye.
Round 1: Daniel Blanco vs Ivan Alvarez - This was shaping up to be a close fight but Alvarez was cut badly and the fight was ended in the 5th for the TKO. Jorge Monsalvo vs Jose Cervantes - Monsalvo was dominant in this one pounding Cervantes throughout the 2nd round until the referee ended the carnage for the 2 TKO. Ruben Palacios vs Ruben Valdez - Palacios came in a 3-2 favorite and left battered and cuz as Valdez earns the 6 TKO on cuts. Semi-Finals: Ricardo Cardona vs Ruben Valdez - Both men went down in this brutal fight ended by an accidental head butt that opened a cut in the 6th, then reopened on Valdez's head in the 8th. Cardona was leading 4-3, 5-2, 5-2 at the time to earn the 8 Technical unanimous decision. Daniel Blanco vs Jorge Monsalvo - Monsalvo went down 5 times in the 4th round with the final one being a 10 count! Final: Ricardo Cardona vs Daniel Blanco - Cardona was dominating this fight, despite splitting a pair of knockdowns. Columbia - BW Division
We have 10 fighters in the Bantamweight Division. There will be 2 fight-in bouts to set the field at 8.
Fight-in: Jesus Salvador Perez vs Edilberto Julio - Julio built up a 9-1 lead through the first 12 rounds on all 3 cards, only to have it erased by a wicked uppercut that floored him for the count in the 13th round Jose Sanjuanelo vs Julio Coronel - Sanjuanelo wins a landslide decision 11-2, 14-1, 15-0. Round 1: Miguel Lora vs Jesus Salvador Perez - Lora fought the perfect tactical fight, scoring a pair of knockdowns and using movement to keep Perez off balance enroute to a 13-2, 12-3, 11-4 decision. Bernardo Caraballo vs Jose Sanjuanelo - Sanjuanelo fought his heart out in this one scoring a pair of knockdowns. I had him winning 7-6 and the judges had it 8-5 Sanjuanelo, 7-6 Caraballo, 6-6 even to force a rematch. Jorge Elicier Julio vs Jorge Otero - Julio scored 3 knockdowns to one for Otero and even though he landed less punches throughout the fight, he did land the harder punches throughout, earning an 8-6 decision on my card. The judges scored it 7-7, 8-6 Julio, 7-7 for a majority draw and yet another rematch. Mauricio Pastrana vs Pedro Rincon Miranda - Miranda suprised Pastrana with his agressiveness in this one, building up a small lead before a cut on the inside of the right brow of Pastrana ended the fight for a TKO in the 12th. Pastrana was the 3-1 favorite. Rematches: Bernardo Caraballo vs Jose Sanjuanelo - Each man went down once, and this was yet another close bout. Caraballo was better prepared in this one however, earning a close but well earned 8-5, 8-6, 6-8 split decision. Jorge Elicier Julio vs Jorge Otero - Julio scored the lone knockdown early in the bout and was well on the way to a solid decision when the amount of damage in the final 2 rounds was such that the referee stopped the bout for a TKO in the 15th. Semi-Finals: Miguel Lora vs Pedro Rincon Miranda - Lora had little trouble with Miranda using the ring and a rapier like jab to open several cuts that finally ended the bout in the 9th round. Bernardo Caraballo vs Jorge Elicier Julio - Caraballo scores a knockdown and keeps a nasty cut on the right eyebrow of Julio open for several rounds to force the stoppage in the 7th round for the TKO. Final: Miguel Lora vs Bernardo Caraballo - Lora scored a knockdown at 2:22 in the 1st round then poured it on an already hurt Caraballo until his corner tossed in the towel for the 1 TKO! Lora, the top seed will move into the World Tourney where he has an excellent chance to make some noise! |

Columbia - JBW Division
There are 4 pugilists in this weight class.
Semi-Finals: Sugar Baby Rojas vs Robinson Quiroz - Quiroz valliantly tried to make a fight of it, but Rojas was too strong, finally getting to him with a pair of knockdowns in the 5th round. Rojas then landed so much leather that Quiroz must have thought he'd entered into a shoe factory! The referee ended it near the end of the 5th for the TKO. Alberto Castro vs Luis Bolano - Bolano came out fast, taking the first round, but then Castro took over, winning the next 11 rounds outright, scoring 5 knockdowns along the way. 3 of those knockdowns came in the 13th round, and Bolano gamely picked himself up each time, but Castro poured it on until the referee ended it for Bolano's safety. Final: Sugar Baby Rojas vs Alberto Castro - This was a slow fight for the most part as you could tell both men respected the other's power. Rojas opened a cut on Castro's right eyelid early on that his corner handled nicely, but it bust wide open in the 9th round and the bout was ended for the TKO. Rojas moves into the world Tourney with the potential to be a factor. |

Columbia - FLY Division
We have 7 fighters in the Flyweight Division. The top seed, Irene Pacheco will recieve a bye in the 1st round.
Round 1: Prudencio Cardona vs Eduardo Pacheco - Cardona takes control from the start, breaking Pacheco down. It paid off with 2 knockdowns in the 9th the the KO punch in the 10th. Fidel Bassa vs Angel Priolo - Bassa started out fast, scoring a knockdown in the 2nd then 3 in the 4th that Priolo somehow survived! Bassa went down in the 12th, 14th, and 2 times in the fatal 15th. Priolo then poured it on until the referee stepped in to end the fight for the 15th round TKO! with both men on the canvas 4 times, the crowd got what it paid for! Jair Jimenez vs Francisco Tejedor - Jiminez dominated this one, scoring a pair of knockdowns before it was stopped when a bad cut on the inside of Tejedor's left brow opened up again in the 11th for the TKO. Semi-Finals: Irene Pacheco vs Angel Priolo - Priolo fought his heart out but wasn't able to handle the power of Pacheco as he was knocked out in the 10th round. Prudencio Cardona vs Jair Jiminez - Jiminez suprised everyone with his power against the favored Cardona scoring a pair of knockdowns before the fight was ended due to several cuts on the battered Cardona's face in the 12th for the TKO. Final: Irene Pacheco vs Jair Jiminez - Jiminez tried to outmuscle Pacheco the way he did Prudencio Cardona in his previous fight. It worked in the 1st round, but in the 2nd Pacheco landed a series of shots, the final one being a terrific upercut that sent Jiminez crashing to the canvas for the count of 10! Pacheco is considered by many to be the finest Flyweight that Columbia has ever produced, and he'll hopefully do well in representing the country in the World Tourney. |

Columbia - JFLY Division
We have 7 fighters in the Jr. Flyweight Division. Ronald Barrera, the top seed will recieve a bye.
Round 1: Beibis Mendoza vs Alfredo Toro - Mendoza proved to be too fast and too strong for Toro scoring a pair of knockdowns, the final one in the 11th for the KO. Wilfrido Perez Valdez vs Agustin Garcia - Valdez scored a knockdown early as he started strong, but he then faded as Garcia scored 3 knockdowns of his own enroute to an 11-4, 11-4, 11-4 decision. Rodolfo Blanco vs Jhon Alberto Molina - Molina was ahead on all 3 cards when he landed a low blow and was disqualified! Semi-Finals: Ronald Barrera vs Agustin Garcia - Barrera scored knockdowns in the 1st and 6th, then finished a closer than expected fight by knocking the game Garcia out for the count in the 10th round. Beibis Mendoza vs Rodolfo Blanco - Mendoza had little trouble with Blanco as he wore him down, scoring 2 knockdowns early, then finally the KO in the 13th round. Final: Ronald Barrera vs Beibis Mendoza - This was a "pick-em" fight in Vegas, and Mendoza was pulling ahead with a 5-3 lead on all 3 cards when Barrera landed a wicked combo that destroyed Mendoza in the 10th for the KO! Barrera will represent Columbia in the World Tourney. |
