I strongly agree. I remember Hardball 5 (or one of the later versions) had that feature and I loved it.

Anyway...

Suggestion
Recreate and clean up the Simulation Screen. Make it resemble OOTP6 more. Make it much prettier - more graphics, less news, more standings info + stats. Maybe add a little box that will just show the results of the human-controlled team during the sim.

Reason
The sim screen turned downright ugly in the OOTP overhaul. I thought it was temporary, but it returned for OOTP2007. For a screen that is one of the most commonly seen in-game, it should look a whole lot better.

Priority

High - it's the most viewed screen in the game.

This is probably a waste of time since you said somewhere that you aren't looking to make any major GUI changes on the next version, but I've got to get it off my chest, so here goes...

I play solo as GM, almost always auto-playing season after season. I love handling the player development features and only rarely interfere with the manager's lineups and rotations. What bugs me the most about this game (and since I play hour after hour, day after day, season after season - "bug" is a relative term) is that once I hit the auto-play button, I am nothing more than outsider looking in. The screen I am given to watch what is going on has absolutely nothing to do with my team. I am just the average baseball fan watching the sports page's standings, headlines and league leaders.

I would much prefer auto-play give me a screen that shows me how my guys are doing - pitchers and hitters in real time. What lineup and rotation changes the manager is making. Who is DTD or tired or injured as it happens instead after some set period of time or some arbitrary event occurs. I should be sittiing in the general managers office the entire time auto-playing is whirring along, and I should be able to instantly stop auto-play at the push of a button so I can respond to something I see.

I also wish it was a little easier to stop auto-play during the off-season.

That is my gripe. I am a little surprised noone has ever mentioned it before. Maybe I am the only one that plays the game this way.

In your manager's home screen where it displays information about how your team is doing (it's overall record, position in division, etc.). On the overall record like it shows your record then tells you how many games behind you are. Which is nice. However if you are leading your division it blanks the GB list since obviously you aren't behind any games.

It would be nice if, when you are in first place, it would list the number of games ahead you are. That way at a glance you can see how far you are ahead of the 2nd place guy without having to switch to the league standings screen.

Stats, stats, stats

Suggestion

More stats... World Series/Playoff league leaders; RECORDS for World Series/Playoff's, individual games, during the regular season check how a player performed "during a recent 3 game road trip"; Player stats for per stadium... etc.

Reason

More data, equals more fun!

Player comparison screen

Reason

This could apply for trades, batter vs. pitcher or visa-versa...

Calendar

Suggestion:
Show a graphical Team and/or League Calendar. Much like the Team Schedule screen, this page would show a monthly calendar with all the important dates listed. Each event would have a link to a the function itself (Rule 5 Draft, Amateur Draft, Free Agency, etc.) and/or news article covering the event (Awards, Hirings/Firings, etc.) Any event which has not yet taken place would contain a button that allows you to advance to the specified date (assuming there is no prior business to attend to.)

Reason:
This would make it easier to visualize when events take place, in what order and how soon.

Priority:
LOW, but useful enough to be considered medium-low.

Reminders

Suggestion:
Allow us to choose to have email reminders sent prior to specified events. Also, it would be nice to have warnings simply pop up before we advance a day without taking care of something important. Perhaps there could even be a little red light on the calendar (see above) when an important event is approaching.

Reason:
So we don't miss anything! This game is so immersive, it's easy to get wrapped up in something detailed and completely overlook something very obvious (but important.)

Priority:
MEDIUM-LOW
