Well rating the players is never a ball of joy. Tweaking the numbers to get the desired results take time too because it's so random. Some of the the things I have found have been by complete accident, while others have taken days of testing. I am very thankful that I have 8 computers. That alone allows me to get alot of testing done in the small amounts of time I can set aside to do it. Even though it sucked buying 3 extra copies of the game

Why do you make posts saying your rosters are going to be finished in a few hours, couple days, etc., when you know you're still going to be testing and probably not satisfied with the results? Why do you say that you're not in this for glory, but repeatedly start threads saying that you're almost finished and how great your rosters are going to be?

Because there are times that I really do feel like I might have found my one missing piece to the puzzle, but then that set of tweaks will cause something else out of whack. I suppose I am guilty of allowing myself to get too excited at times.

I really don't care. I'm glad you have a strong sense of self-worth though. I asked a legitimate question and opined that you had cast yourself in a less-than-favorable light. Immediately you got defensive.

No you were asking legitimate questions, but once you resort to name calling, then I cease to be interested in giving you the respect I give others.

I said you made yourself look like an ass. I didn't say you were an ass. Would you not agree that you haven't done yourself any favors with the way you've approached this?

I suppose that's up to each person to decide. I would say that the mistake I have made is getting overly excited at each breakthrough that I have made

Well, on at least four different occasions you've priomised a release right away and then disappeared. I play fictional myself, but your arguments always suggest using the other roster sets or Lahman. Do you not think it's fair to tell people what the problems are and what you're encountering? It's actions like these that make people angry. But it's anger at being duped, not anger at not being able to play with current rosters. It seems like you are pulling the wool over peoples' eyes and not being completely honest. A bigger problem arises when all is forgiven and you pull similar stunts. People feel like fools for believing you're going to put out a set, support you in that quest, and you fail to deliver all along not volunteering one shred of evidence that these rosters even exist.

Well it seems I have already said that my mistake is getting overly excited each time a piece of the puzzle falls into place. But at the end of this process I think it will all pay off. I am very excited about my new financial system. It tests out incredibly. And once I get a better grip on AI roster control, things will be even better.

You need to do something to rebuild trust in the community. When you say you don't care about that or your credibility, it reinforces my belief that you don't have any roster set.

You act like I put any value on the "trust" of the community. I don't make mods for the community. I make mods for myself and for a small group of others that are interested in seeing some of my research come to a head. As I have stated quite a few times over the last 48 hours, this set is in reality just a base for the set that I really want to play with. As well as a diversion for me to start a game with and enjy as I move onto the next level of what I am looking for in a roster set. Ever since OOTP 2006 was released there's never been a roster set that is what I want. Matter's work is the closest but I want the real players not fictional ones.

If it's just for you and your buddies, why do you constantly post about it here and subject yourself to ridicule? Surely you could keep them updated on AIM or a league forum.

Also it seems PECOTA never expects an older player to have value to his team.
I have no interest in wading into this seemingly endless discussion, but the above is very misleading. Tools are not incorporated into PECOTA's projections (and Nate Silver acknowledges this as a deficiency of the system, at least when it comes to prospect evaluation). PECOTA's input includes age, biometric data, league level and stats- no scouting data at all. PECOTA projections are based on how similar players have performed historically. PECOTA has no way of knowing if a player is 'toolsy', unless it shows up in his stats or age/height/weight, and if players with 'toolsy stats' get good projections, it's because similar players have played well throughout baseball history.

PECOTA has also consistently outperformed all other stat forecasting systems on the market, so if you have a better projection system, I'd recommend patenting it and selling it.

Well it seems odd to me that so many toolsy players are PECOTA darlings as well. I am not saying PECOTA is useless. I just don't think it translates to OOTP very well

nowhere did I say it was just for my buddies and me. There are people from here that I talk to all the time, and they are the ones that I concern myself with.
