In Detroit. Good to see one Cleveland team can beat a Detroit team on the road......

Fausto!
Looking at his last three starts, Carmona's done a pretty decent job of keeping the ball earthbound. 17 GB, 4 FB 16 GB, 2 FB 19 GB, 4 FB

Be careful, dh, you keep talking about on topic things and the mods will move this thread to Off Topic.

Byrd outduels Matsuzaka. Gives up a lot of hits, 9 in 6 IP, but doesn't walk anyone, and has only one K on the night. Typical performance by Paul. This is his six straight start, covering 40 IP, without a single walk surrendered.
Daisuke get smacked around by the mighty Cleveland offense. Not been a great start to the season by Matsuzaka, 7-3, 4.83 ERA. His peripherals and talent speak to the notion that that won't last long.

They are interviewing an Indians player on ESPNews right now.... too bad it has to be Casey Blake.

I'd never heard of the Cleveland. reliever who got hammered last night in relief of Fausto Carmona. I think it is safe to say that Tom Mastny is the first player in MLB history to have East Bontang for a hometown. Is it too cliche that Cleveland would be the team to sign MLB's first player born in Indonesia?

Mastny actually worked as our closer for much of the latter part of last year, after the Trade of Wickman and the inability of Carmona to close out games. He didn't do too bad for a quick fix.

Hey, Indians fans, don't miss the Friday game as Reds uber pitching prospect, Homer Bailey, makes his major league debut against the Tribe. Think Lincecum or Hughes quality when you want an idea of the scouts regard for this kid.

It seemed a logical conclusion that Mastny wasn't an Indonesian name.

It seems like very few teams have the restaint these days to keep their pithcing prospects in AAA for more time. They seem to be "rushing" their prospects up faster and faster--or maybe its just me.

Indians catchers current batting lines.......
Victor Martinez: .323/.382/.541 (on a pace for 33 HR and 151 RBI) Kelly Shoppach: .386/.462/.596 That is ****ing insane hitting for the backstop position.

His peripherals have improved to the point that he's got over a 2/1 K/BB ratio and he's still inducing grounders over 60% of the time. He could end up being a legit #2 starter.
