This is what I think: I think Markus should sell ITP to SquareSoft so that Square can make Final Fantasy XIV. It would be a baseball based Final Fantasy Game!!!!!!!

My first thought was that Sega bought The Creative Assembly and the Total War series from Activision. At the time there was much unrest because Activision refused to issue any more patches for Rome Total War that had some major issues. Sega stepped in after the buy and funded the new patches where Activision would not.
So, since there is nothing I or we can do about it I will give sega the benefit of the doubt. If something were to happen to end ootp, and I don't think it will, I belive ootp 2006 will be good enough to hold my attention for years. After all I played strat o matic in the day for about 20 years. Other than adding r\l splits in the early 70's I don't think it changed much between 1969 and 1989. |

I wish Markus well, but those of you who insist that everything is now going to be better for OOTP are very innocent and do not understand how the corporate M&A world works.
Been there. Seen it all. Experienced it all. Jobs get eliminated, intellectual property gets assimilated, etc etc. It always begins with "Don't worry! NOTHING is going to change!" |

Does Sega now own the SI code Markus used to reate OOTP 2006? If so, it really doesn't matter that much that Markus still owns the OOTP franchise. As long as that code is being used, (and I beleive this code is the key to the future of OOTP) SEGA will always have a say in the decision makig progress when it comes to OOPTP. I agree with MD, I've been there and I've seen it (particularly from Clear Channel Communications) Day one: don't worry, nothing will change, your jobs are all safe. A few months down the road, this just isn't the case. Also, they take good local radio turn it into THEY'RE idea of what radio should be. A nice package of satalite fed programs that doesn't require salaries. In the end everyone but CC loses. It happens everyday. I'm not saying the gaming industry is exactly the same, but I'mm willing to bet it's similar enough. If Markus is prepared to tel us SEGA will have No say in the products production, then fine...but I don't think he can or will.

I'm talking about the code, which I think ( I could be wrong) is different than the actual game.

Regulation is needed. And if you think that's un-American, I would point out to you that the godfather of American corporate regulation is none other than Teddy Roosevelt.
