Use current major league ratings as bar. Players like Pujols and Santana are once in generation type players, try not make a ton of them, that absolutely water down the roster set. Thanks for the work.
Young MLBers generally aren't getting the same ratings as the proven guys unless they are special guys like Francouer, etc. Tried to keep the prospect talent ratings to the point where, in 10 years, you'll have roughly the same type of league as you do now. That's why I didn't want to overrate some guys.

I base most of the "actual" ratings on stats. I hate to dream on guys and predict how their 2006 season will go too much (though I do a bit), since I could be completely wrong. If I think a guy has large room for improvement, even if he isn't a prospect, generally I played it safe with the actual ratings and gave him room for growth with talent ratings so he can grow into his stats.

Looking at a test sim I just ran, the only problem seems to be old players deteriorating WAY too fast. I may play around with the talent ratings on them so they are good for another year or year and a half before the talent rating dips below the actual.

What is a good # for the development and aging speed? If I have aging speed as a NEGATIVE number, will they age more quickly or slowly?

Putting the aging in the negative makes the players age slower. You may want to do a search for SkyDog's modifieres as he has done tests and see where he places the aging modifiers.

Is there a site up where we can download the rosters. For some reason I can't find one if there is one. Thanks for all of your time and effort.

i think you should leave the ratings in the range where they are. if you imported ratings based on their actual stats, this is more accurate to that than if you bumped them up to make it like many other recent roster sets.

When I feel they're finished, I'll be posting an initial link in here from my webspace if I can finally get it to work. Then I'll send it to the mod sites.

Decided to try and get some of the AL prospects right, as I noticed I hadn't got Howie Kendricks, and some other really important guys in there. Doing service time next, and then running some tests in a bit. I'll update in a little while.

Ratings are complete. I have to leave around 9, but in between now and then I'm going to try and finish up the service time so I can prep this for release.

So, how are the few Met prospects left looking? Humber? Milledge? And where is Pelfrey in this file? Oh yeah, and out of the blue, how are the Indians players rated...overall.

Mets prospects are pretty solid, Milledge is a top 10 hitting prospect in the MLB. Can't remember where the others sit.

Actually it won't take too long, so while I'm working on service time, I'll upload the team pages again (since ratings are done for now) right now... look for them in 10.

Still banking on a LATE night release tonight. Apologies to leagues who had to delay as I have delayed a few days, haven't planned on getting as sloshed as I have lately.

EDIT: Have to download a FTP program on dialup, so more like an hour for team pages.

EDIT2: Power went out as apparently, we have TORNADOS IN JANUARY in Missouri. Hurrah.

Lost a bunch of stuff, I'll have to get back to doing the service time tomorrow. Sorry for the delay guys.

Trying my best!! Blame the 5 hour interruption on my girl coming over and wanting to watch movies.

No more waiting, the file WILL be released on January 3, by 10:00 PM CT at the latest.

I think I've caught up to where I would be on service time, so after I get back from some errands tomorrow afternoon at 4, I'll be doing rosters to completion. I can't see it taking more than 2-3 hours, so plan on that.

Sorry for all the delays, waiting is almost over.

Thanks for keeping us updated! No rush, I can't imagine the effort it takes to make a roster, so I'm not going to try an assess how long it should take to complete! I'm thinking the longer the better! Quality is always worth waiting for.

But I very much look forward to it! No matter HOW horribly unfair my poor, poor Toronto Blue Jays are undervalued.... (Wink-wink, nudge-nudge)
