Langford knocks off Jeannette in devestating fashion
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 16, 1910 Sam Langford (10/CH) (25-6-1) scored a devestating TKO11 over Joe Jeannette (CH/2) (21-1) to win both the WBA and the WBC Heavyweight titles and hand Jeannette his first loss. This fight wasn't even close as Jeannette may have won 1 round the entire fight. Jeannette started carrying his hands low in the 3rd. Then his left eye started to swell in the 7th. Langford dropped the champ twice in the 9th, once in the 10th and for good in the 11th. A complete domination for Langford. I had it 99-89 giving only the 2nd round to the champ. On the undercard WW - Charles Gleason (UR) (10-1) TKO7 Jack Willis (32/33) (12-10-1) 59-55 Gleason (gleason at pre) LW - Freddie Welsh (8/8) (17-4-1) UD10 Jack Grace (56/club) (7-12) (grace at pre, drops back to club with the loss) FW - Harry Paul (49/42) (12-6) SD10 Abe Willis (67/67) (11-7-2) (both at pre) LW - Charles McCarthy (club) (12-21-2) MD8 Bill Crane (UR) (1-4-3) (mccarthy at end, crane at pre for this club fight ... after the fight I moved Mccarthy back to post based on his winning his prior 7 fights, I will do this at my own descretion for some of the guys who were at end before I activated the aging routine) BW - Charley Kelly (club) (8-11-1) DQ6 Joe Bowker (club) (18-20-7) (bowker at post for this club fight, bowker blows a chance to move back to main) |

Ouch, didn't expect Langford to handle Jeannette so easily.

neither did I, it was so convincing that there will be no mandatory rematch, but Jeannette is ranked 2nd so he'll get another shot. |

I don't like fighters losing their unbeaten records, especially those who I have career pathed.
I was even slightly upset when Skelton lost his at the weekend. Jesus, what is this game doing to me.

Coulon sneaks past Murphy
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 22, 1910 Johnny Coulon (CH) (23-3-2) decided before the fight to fight outside defensively and he stuck to his game plan and scored a squeaky MD15 over Johnny Murphy (4/4) (16-2-1) to retain his WBC Bantamweight title. Coulon fought outside defensively in 12 out of the 15 rounds (that's a first as far as sticking to one strategy for me) and built a big lead early to win this fight. Coulon took 5 out of the first 6 rounds and Murphy couldn't get inside to land power shots. Slowly though Murphy started to find his range and came storming back. I had Murphy winning 5 straight rounds at one point. Coulon had a good 14th and the 15th was anybodys to take. No cuts or knockdowns in this one. Murphy had a little swelling around his right eye late in the fight. I had it 143-142 for Murphy. Max Davis, ringside expert, had it 144-141 Coulon. The official judges had it 143-142/143-143/143-142. The commissioner of the LBA (me) has decided that if Murphy wins his next fight then he gets a rematch against Coulon by years end. On the 4 fight card, undercard BW - Cockney Cohen (42/42) (9-7-4) DRAW10 Harry Forbes (14/14) (17-16-7) MW - George LaBlanche (17/15) (20-18-4) MD10 Young Kid Broad (25/32) (11-5) (lablanche at post, Broad at pre) LW - Danny Duane (12/11) (15-10-3) UD10 Eddie Carroll (UR) (9-4) (duane at one time was 2-8-1) |

Gans stops Martin in a great fight.
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 26, 1910 Joe Gans (CH) (31-4-3) picked himself up off the canvas twice and KO'd the tough challanger Terry Martin (5/8) (17-3-1) in the 15th round to defend both the WBA and WBC Welterweight title. Gans looked to be in control of this fight winning 3 of the first 4 rounds fairly comfortabley, then the fight completely changed course in the 5th when martin dropped Gans with a huge right hand. It seemed to take Gans a few rounds to clear his head and Martin ruled the middle rounds, swelling up Gans' right eye in the 8th. Gans shook out the cobwebs and came on strong in the 9th and 10th. Then Martin landed an uppercut in the 11th and dropped Gans again. Martin threw punch after punch trying to take Gans out but failed. Martin was exhausted at this point and Gans took the fight back over. He won the next 3 rounds and then dropped Martin early in the 15th and Martin couldn't beat the count, more from exhaustion than anything else. Martin's cutman had a great fight. Martin was cut over the right eye in the 4th and it was only reopened once the rest of the way. I had it 132-132 at the stoppage. Ringside expert, Lee McRae had it 133-132 Gans. Two of the official judges had it 132-132 (both the champ judges) and one had it 133-131 Martin. On the undercard BW - Steve Flanagan (UR) (11-1) UDTD5 Billy James (41/42) (9-8-3) (both at pre) HW - Thomas Sayers (UR/9) (11-1-3) KO10 Steve O'Donnell (UR) (9-2-1) (both at pre, Sayers stepped up to HW ... O'Donnell down 6 times) WW - Charley Sieger (17/16) (12-3-3) MD10 George Green (UR) (11-1-1) (both at pre, Sieger stepped up to WW for this fight) FW - Tommy Feltz (club) (15-21-2) UD8 Frank Murphy (UR) (9-3) (feltz at post, murphy at pre for this club fight ... murphy blows chance to move up) LW - Edward McDonald (UR) (9-2-1) UD8 Young Otto (club) (11-18-4) (mcdonald at pre, otto at post for this club fight) |

I hadn't checked in this week and find that Jeanette lost! I get attached to the undefeated guys in my little world, so I know the feeling.
When might McAllister fight again - a few months down the road I assume.

He has been out two months so he has a 60% chance of fighting next month and then is automatic for August if he misses next month.

IBF Featherweight title match set for August
Jem Driscoll (1) (36-6-1) vs. Cal McCarthy (2) (17-3) first meeting between the two and McCarthy is still at pre-prime so Driscoll will be heavily favored. |
