Well, I'm not able to watch it either. But, I guess I don't understand the point at all. Swisher's not struggling, and he's already in scoring positon.

So, even if it was Swisher's idea, I'd still like to blame it on Macha.

STUPID MACHA!

Wow, are we going for the two inning save? Yikes.

(I'm not watching the game either. Stupid FOX. And I blame Macha.)

HAHHAAHAHAHAHA

If we lose (which I'm guessing we somehow will) again this is 100% on Macha.

BTW, anybody else REALLY GLAD that Street threw a full inning in a non save situation the other day?

Wow. Well earned save for Street. Macha got lucky. We should be pissed at him right now but instead I'm just .

Oh, and I'll 100% guarantee that Swisher didn't sac on his own.
Why? I don't like Macha either but one thing about him is he subscribes to the A's philosophies. There's no way Macha told Swisher to sac bunt in the middle innings like that.

We're talking about Nick Swisher here. He's never had a sac bunt, like ever.

Incidentally, Jason Windsor became the first 9 game winner this season in all of the minor leagues, and his ERA is below 2 in AAA.

There's really no reason he shouldn't be our 5th starter next year (read: Loaiza needs to be traded for anything at all)

Which is why I wonder if he was trying to catch the defense off guard with a bunt for a base hit. In his mind, worst case scenario: he moves the runner over. I still haven't seen it though so that could be wrong.

I'm still hoping that Loaiza ends up murdering a family of four or something so he can not only go away, but the A's probably wouldn't have to pay his salary either.

Would it be bad to hope that it's Macha's family, but the other three survive?

I say no. Others will say yes.

Kendall
Swisher
Chavez
Thomas
Crosby
Payton
Johnson
Kielty
Scutaro

A day off for Kotsay and Dan Johnson still finds himself not only in the majors, but in the starting lineup again. At least we've got our man back today, and Ron Flores was sent down to AAA to vacate the roster spot.

I think Johnson will stick around until Bradley gets back.

Uh oh.

Melhuse pinch hit for Thomas, not good. Hopefully this isn't a serious thing.

Stupid MLB.tv and their "commerical break in progress" screen. I guess they didn't think we cared about seeing the 9th inning today.

Good series .

Radio said it was Swisher's idea to bunt. Macha called him a knucklehead or something like that after the game. I also heard that Dan Johnson (Minnesota boy) played pretty well today.

As for Thomas, I heard it was a left foot injury (I think it was his left foot). They didn't specifically say what the injury was, but they didn't seem to make it sound too bad. But they were Minnesota broadcasters, so they may not have be all that interested.

Yeah, given that he was just removed for a pinch hitter and he didn't have any obvious injury on a play or something, I'm thinking and hoping it was just a precautionary move to take him out.

Both times he hurt the foot with the Sox he didn't immediately have to come out of the game. In fact, the first time he played another 2-3 weeks with the broken bone.

This worries me a lot.

Roney and Brown back down to AAA, Bradley and Witsaick activated.

Link

Target for Bradley is Wednesday night, and it sounds like Witasick will be available right away.

So much for Johnson being sent down. It looks like he'll get the opportunity to work through it. FWIW, he did have a very nice game today (2-for-2, HR and 2 BB).

Actually Beane called him a knucklehead, not Macha.

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cg...AS.TMP&type=as

"I'm glad we did'' bunt, said A's general manager Billy Beane, who has a known aversion to giving up outs. Then he added, motioning toward Swisher, "I'm glad Marco did, anyway. Knucklehead over there is second or third in the league in home runs. But we've had to scrape for every run we can, there haven't been too many opportunities. I'm not dogmatic about it, I don't remember actually sitting down and explaining to anyone that we should never bunt. There's no such thing as never.''

This seems about right. And by Beane calling him knucklehead, that pretty much says it was Swisher acting on his own.

And he's right about "there's no such thing as never." Another horrible misconception of the uneducated (that's not a jab at any regular poster in this thread).
