Erne defends his title easily
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
May 22, 1910 Frank Erne (CH) (19-5-2) scored a UD15 over Austin Gibbons (10/14) (22-18-3) to retain both the WBA and WBC Lightweight titles. It was a easy and boring fight as there were no knockdowns or cuts. Erne dominated the fight from the opening bell. I had it 147-139. Markus Heinsohn, ringside expert, spent most of the fight chatting up the ringcard girls and decided the fight was very close, giving Erne the slight nod at 143-142. The official judges scored it 146-139/146-140/147-139. In my game this seems to be a trend when Markus is the ringside expert, is he programmed to be blind? On the undercard BW - Owen Moran (8/8) (27-6-6) UD10 Tommy Doherty (33/34) (9-8-1) (Doherty at pre) LH - Jack O'Brien (2/1) (25-5-1) UD10 Rough Thompson (18/20) (11-6) (thompson at pre) BW - Cockney Cohen (40/36) (9-7-3) UD10 Billy James (34/37) (9-7-3) (james at pre) MW - Jake Ahearn (UR) (9-0) UD8 James Payne (UR) (8-5) 79-75 (both at pre for this club fight) BW - Johnny Reagan (club) (5-19-4) UD8 Harry Dally (UR) (9-4-1) (dally at pre for this club fight) |

May 24, 1910 BW - Terry McGovern (22/8) (32-7-4) KO10 Dave Sullivan (6/9) (15-3-1) 87-84 (Sullivan at pre ... close fight through 6, then McGovern took over) LH - John Wille (14/11) (13-5) TKO4 Jack Sullivan (19-19-1) (13/20) (wille at pre) MW - Billy Baker (10/8) (20-16-4) UD10 Jerry Jerome (22/26) (13-4) (jerome at pre) LW - Young Donahue (43/37) (11-5-2) SD10 Tim Callahan (46/47) (10-6-1) (both at pre) LW - Joe Gregg (UR) (8-1-1) MD8 Mark Higgins (UR) (3-6-2) (both at pre for this club fight) FLY - Jim Donald (UR/3) (8-6-1) SD8 Charley Harvey (UR/5) (9-2-4) (both at pre, both move to the main division) **** note **** That gives me 8 ranked fighters in FLY so I will start a tourney next month for the first champ. Since they haven't had too many fights under the new system and they tend to fight out of weight class alot, it will be a randomly selected tourney. |

Herrera shuts down newcomer
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
May 30, 1910 Aurelio Herrera (11/10) (19-8) scored a KO6 over prospect Willie Ritchie (18/20) (13-3-2) (ritchie at pre). Herrera jumped on Ritchie in the first round dropping him for a 6 count. Ritchie made a nice comeback taking the next two rounds but then Herrera's power shots started landing and it was obvious Ritchie was in over his head. In the 4th and 5th rounds, Herrera outscored Ritchie 49-8 on points, and then mid-way through the 6th Herrera dropped him for good to win the bout. I had it 48-46 at the stoppage. On the undercard HW - Sam Langford (9/9) (24-6-1) KO4 Al Kubiak (30/43) (10-6) (kubiak at pre) LW - Jacob Hyams (UR) (9-3) MD10 Jack Grace (52/54) (7-11) (both at pre) HW - Peter Courtney (43/38) (14-4-1) SD10 Hank Griffin (42/46) (18-9-2) (courtney at pre ... good win) HW - J. Black (UR/22) (11-4) SD10 Oliver Williams (62/69) (10-8-3) (black at pre) FLY - Bill Ladbury (UR) (6-0-2) KO2 Jack McDermott (UR) (6-7) 10-9 Ladbury (both at pre for this club fight) |

Klaus has easy defense
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 3, 1910 Frank Klaus (CH) (18-6-1) scored an easy TKO10 over Jimmy Handler (3/5) (11-11-3) for his 3rd defense of the WBA Middleweight Title. This was also the 30th WBA Middleweight Title fight, the first belt to reach 30 in the LBA. Klaus dominated this fight from the opening bell, hitting Handler at will. Handler was obviously overmatched but kept coming forward trying to land on big shot. Handler caught Klaus enough to probably win the 6th and 7th rounds but was exhausted by the end of the 8th. Handler started carrying his hands low and Klaus hit him repeatedly throughout the 9th. Handler went down early in the 10th and again a minute later. He gamely got to his feet but the ref had seen enough. I had it 88-84 at the stoppage. On the undercard MW - Joe Thomas (28/24) (14-5-3) UD10 Dave Kurtz (24/28) (6-7-3) (kurtz at pre) WW - Wildcat Ferns (8/4) (15-4) KO6 Frank Burke (UR) (9-2) (both at pre for this fight) LW - Young Donahue (40/38) (12-5-2) DRAW10 Jack Hopper (25/25) (12-4) (96-94 Donahue) (both at pre) HW - Charley Miller (UR) (6-2-1) UD8 Charley Robinson (UR) (6-4) (both at pre for this club fight) LH - Charley Stevenson (club) (10-11) KO7 SP Stockton (club) (16-19-2) (stockton at post for this club fight) |

June 5, 1910 Worst fight card I've had ... didn't watch a single fight, no fighter ranked higher than 22. Sometimes the draw power is too high or I think in this case I had too many fight cards this month. MW - George Rooke (22/18) (19-16-1) KO8 Charley Johnson (39/42) (9-12-2) LW - Battling Nelson (32/28) (22-15-1) TKO7 Dave Wallace (22/29) (10-7) (wallace at pre) LW - Jimmy Carroll (39/33) (18-14-5) TKO10 Mike Leonard (41/45) (12-5-3) (leonard at pre) FW - Martin Flaherty (68/62) (9-11-3) UD10 Jimmy Dime (37/64) (12-6) (dime at pre) LH - Tom Parks (UR) (6-7-1) UD8 Jack Stewart (club) (10-18-4) (parks at pre, stewart at end for this club fight) MW - Tommy Cleary (UR) (9-4-1) UD8 Young Billy Manning (UR) (7-6) (both at pre for this club fight) |

June 7th, 1910 WW - Charley Hitte (14/11) (18-11) KO8 Dick Nelson (24/27) (12-6) 66-66 at stoppage (nelson at pre, good fight Hitte had a cut re-opened twice so the fight could've been stopped at anytime) FW - Will Curley (18/11) (15-7-3) UD10 Sammy Kelly (34/45) (11-10-1) BW - Joe Bertrand (15/11) (11-2-3) TKO5 George Church (UR) (10-1-1) 39-37 Church at stoppage (both at pre ... Church tore something in his shoulder in the 5th and couldn't continue ... huge win for Bertrand, won't post this in the upset thread (5 over a 9) because of it being a fluke win) HW - Tom Lees (63/47) (22-16) TKO9 Jack Burns (27/42) (15-8-1) (Lees does have 1 more pp than Burns but I think there must be a variable built in so different titles have different rankings as I see this every now and then. WBC has Lees at 35 and Burns at 45) MW - Harris Martin (17/14) (21-16-5) UD10 Billy Kramer (19/24) (10-6) (Kramer at pre) LH - Dan Dwyer (club/9) (17-17-1) KO3 JH Brown (club) (15-17-3) (both at post for this club fight, Dwyer moves back to main with the win) |

Briggs has it easy in first defense
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 9, 1910 Jimmy Briggs (CH) (15-10-5) lost his first title defense back in 1904 after upsetting Abe Attell. This time he scored a KO10 over Eddie Pierce (17/20) (10-6-3) (pierce at pre) after upsetting Jem Driscoll to make his first title defense. This was sort of a gimme for Briggs to celebrate his coming all the way back from the Club ranks to win the title again. He deserved one easy bout. This was very easy as I had it 89-82 at the time of the KO with him only losting the 3rd round and that one was close. He battered Pierce most of the fight finally putting him down and out in the 10th. He holds both the WBA and the WBC titles but this one was only sanctioned by the WBA. I would expect a tougher defense next time out. On the undercard FW - Eugene Hornbacher (65/61) (11-7-1) TKO9 Frank Zimpher (53/62) (9-7) (both at pre) BW - Jack Madden (UR/12) (13-2) MD10 Jimmy Dunn (19/25) (9-5-3) (both at pre) HW - Mike Conley (34/30) (12-4) DQ10 Jim Harvey (84/87) (9-8-1) 87-87 at stoppage(both at pre, Harvey warned 3 times before DQ) HW - Ned Cheeley (UR) (7-0-3) UD8 Jem Smith (UR) (9-3-1) 78-75 (both at pre in this club fight, Smith misses out on a chance to move up) MW - Frank Glover (club/7) (18-18) UD8 Tom Barry (UR) (8-2-1) (barry at pre, glover at post in this club fight ... auto aging moved glover to end but I moved him back due to an 8-2 record in his last 10 .... according to LBA rules 6 wins in the last 10 fights allows a fighter to stay at post or end 2 times then they have to move ... glover also moves back to main with the win) |

Delmont handles Neil in the rematch
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
June 12, 1910 Al Delmont (WBA) (21-8-2) scored a KO12 over Frankie Neil (14/22) (20-19-3) to revenge his last loss, but it wasn't easy. Once again Neil's style caused all sorts of problems for Delmont and Neil may have been on his way to another upset win until he took a wicked uppercut in the 12th. The fight was very close with neither fighter winning 3 rounds in a row. The referee started helping out Delmont early in the fight warning Neil at every turn. He finally took a point away in the 10th and the 11th. Delmont took a nasty cut under his left eye in the 11th and then came on to finish the fight in the 12th. I had it 104-103 Delmont. The judges had it a SD for Delmont at the stoppage but Delmont was ahead only by the two foul points. The loss drops Neil too far down in the rankings for a rubber match but if he gets a couple of wins we could see the 3rd bout. On the undercard BW - Harry Tenney (21/13) (15-6-2) TKO5 Tom Cassiday (UR/26) (10-2-3) (cassiday at pre) HW - John Knifton (60/52) (19-18-1) UD10 William Schiller (85/85) (13-9) LH - Morris Harris (34/27) (13-13) TKO8 John Flood (23/28) (9-11-2) LH - Athur McLaglen (UR) (10-2) UD8 Louis Lester (club) (4-9-2) (both at pre for this club fight ... mclaglen goes to main with 10th win, Lester stays in club and now must even out his record in order to go to main) MW - Harry Lewis (club) (9-16-1) UD8 James Payne (UR) (8-6) (payne at pre, Lewis stepped up to MW for this club fight) |

June 14, 1910 FLY - Jack Foy (7/6) (8-6-3) UD10 Jim Donald (3/7) (8-7-1) 99-91 (WBA eliminator ... both at pre) MW - Hugo Kelly (35/32) (18-15-1) KO8 Frank Fields (21/29) (10-5-1) (fields at pre) LW - Tommy Murphy (52/39) (12-13-3) TKO10 Barney Donovan (20/42) (20-20-2) 87-85 (donovan at post) LW - Tommy Connolly (57/47) (12-8) DQ7 George McFadden (31/43) (11-11-2) (connolly stepped up from FW for this win) MW - Joe Chip (UR) (9-0) KO3 Harry Peppers (UR) (6-3-4) 19-19 (both at pre for this club fight ... Chip's 8th KO including 7 straight) WW - Billy Gardner (club) (10-19-3) TKO10 Mike Sullivan (club) (16-18-4) (both at post for this club fight ... Sullivan drops to end, he is 6-4 over his last 10 which would have qualified him to stay at post but they have to also win the fight where they drop, so Sullivan in effect becomes my first auto post to end fighter) |
