Maybe a couple Rocco downloads at cornerwork might be a good way to say "thank you" for all the work he does. Rocco does a fabulous job with many obscure fighters and his ratings are usually dead on. I also love the bios he throws together. Keep it up, good man...
This might be a good thing to do with all of our resident creators, if they don't mind and someone is willing to throw it all together.

Dave Mills Rating 1 Chilean (Born in US)
Heavyweight 1910-20 6 wins / 6 losses / 6 draws / 4 KO Hometown: Oakland, CA Birthplace: United States Nationality: Chilean Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Mills has several early career fights that BoxRec has no known date only that they were held prior to 1915. In July 1912 he lost 8th round TKO to Frank Moran in Juarez, Mexico when Mills suffered a broken thumb. In August 1913 there's a no decision contest against Young Peter Jackson. There's then about a 2 year gap in his career before Mills is recorded getting KO'd by John Lest Johnson in the 10th round in Feb 1915. Two months later Johnson out points Mills in another 10 round fight. In March 1916, Mills fights Sam Langford in a title defense of Langfords World 'colored' heavyweight title claim. Langford stops Mills in the 2nd round. There's then a 3-1/2 year gap again in Mills record with no fights when he resurfaces in Santiago, Chile in November 1919 and defeats Luis Firpo in a 15 round decision to win the South American HW Title. In April 1920 those two fight a title rematch with Firpo this time knocking out Mills in the 2nd round. In December 1920 Mills and Firpo fight a 3rd time for the South American title with Firpo again knocking out Mills in the 3rd round. Mills is one of these guys you just got to believe there's more to his boxing career that's not seen here yet in BoxRecords database. |

Clemente Saavedra Rating 1 Chile
Heavyweight 1922-26 2 wins / 8 losses / 1 draw / 0 KO Original Rating: Christopher Updated rating: Rocco Del Sesto I had a file done by Chris that indicated only 3 fights for Saavedra, the 2 fights with Rojas and the last one with Renault. Since then BoxRec has been doing some updating of his career. I ran across Saavedra while looking at Chilean HW's so here's an update on Chris' original work. After the two, 12 round decisions dropped to Quinto Romero Rojas in June and July 1922, Saavedra's next recorded fight is June 1923, a 12 round decision win over Gunboat Smith in Santiago, Chile. More then a year later in November 1924, he shows up New York for 3 fights at Madison Square Garden, a 6 round draw with Dan O'Connell in November, a 6 round decision win over Alex Sclair in december and then Saavedra is stopped in the 2nd round by Sully Montgomery in January 1925 when the referee, Jim Crowely stopped the bout when Saavedra was "helpless and staggering about the ring" according to the New York Times. That loss started a string of 6 straight losses through 1925 and ending in the June 1926 2nd round KO loss to Jack Renault. He lost also a 6 round decision to Sandy Seifert and was stopped in fights by Joe Stoessel(9-8-3,7KO), Bill Tate and Bud Gorman before Renault tagged him. The version that Chris did actually simmed out very well. All I changed was lowering his endurance from 10 to 8 and raised his recovery from 5 to 6. Gustavo Saeltzer Rating 1 Chile
Heavyweight 1954-58 1 win / 7 losses / 0 draws / 1 KO Hometown: Valdivia Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto He wins his first bout in May 1954, a 3rd round KO, then looses 2 fights in latter 54 including a 12 round decision dropped to Eduardo Rodriguez for the Chilean HW title. He's stopped in the other fight. After a 2nd round TKO loss to Humberto Loayza in May 1955, Saeltzer dissappears until August 1957 when he's stopped twice by Juan Baylon in 2 fights. Two 10 round decision losses to Andres Villalba in 1958 ends Saeltzer's career. |

What would be nice would be some real live heavyweights tomato cans from the 70's and 80's to go with Vistaman 80,S fighter packs. Bill

Luis Urra Rating 1 Chile
Heavyweight 1958-69 4 wins / 7 losses / 0 draws / 4 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Looses 5 of his first 6 fights getting stopped in 4 of them twice by Argentinean Andres Villalba. After a 10 round decision loss in March 1962, Urra wins for the 2nd time knocking out Juan Baylon in 4 rounds in June 1962. Then his record show no more fights for almost 3 years when in March 1965 he shows up to fight Rosendo Calquin for the Chilean HW Title knocking out Calquin in the 8th round. The two fight a rematch for the title that December and Urra KO's Calquin again. That's it for Urra though except for a 1st round KO at the hands of Luis Pires in November 1967 and a 2nd round KO handed to him by Santiago Lovell in October 1969. |

Humberto Gonzalez Aka: Peter Johnson
Rating 1 Peru Heavyweight 1930-35 0 wins / 5 losses / 0 draws / 0 KO Listed in BoxRec under the name of Peter Johnson. Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Lost 6 round decision to Arturo Godoy in December 1930 then lost 10 round decision to Godoy in June 1931. Did not fight for almost 2 years when he lost 10 round decision to Erwin Klausner. Out again 2 years when Alberto Santiago Lovell KO'd him in the 1st round. A month later Erwin Klausner out pointed him in 10. Got one more Peruvian I'm going to do. He's got a few fights under his belt though be it a pretty bad looking record. Stay tuned..... |

Juan Ulrich Rating 1 Peru
Heavyweight 1943-55 3 wins / 26 losses / 1 draw / 2 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto He started out loss, win, loss, win, loss, win including a win over Angel Sotillo and losses to Alberto Santiago Lovell and Arturo Godoy. It was 23 straight losses after that except for one 10 round draw stuck in toward the end of the tailspin. 14 of his 26 losses were stoppages. The 23 straight losses includes to Angel Sotillo, Alberto Lovell three more times, Alfredo Lagay twice, Cesar Brion 5 times, Abel Cestac twice, Karel Sys three times, and Vincente Dos Santos twice. A pretty fair array of opponents. Just didn't have a strong enough of chin to stand up to them. |

Fighter ratings sent to cornerwork
I've emailed to Mark all the fighter ratings I've done.
I know there's some duplication of some guys that others of you have done quite possibly. If I've gotten someone elses files mixed in mine by mistake somehow my appology for that ahead of time! I've broken the heavyweights up by sub folders alphabetically so you can get smaller bunches of guys to sort through at a time to see what you want. Hopefully you'll find something maybe you've not gotten off the forum here. Thanks and thanks to Mark for all his great work over at cornerwork! Rocco |
