Not really a surprise to me, but tbh if you want to show a sport, you should find the time to show it (even if it means the kiddies get their programming cut slightly).
One of the most famous examples of this in the USA was the famous 'Heidi' NFL playoff game between the Raiders and the Jets. The game was cut off with 2 minutes or so to go and the Raiders losing if I remember correctly. They had to cut away at 7pm EDT to show the movie Heidi. The Raiders came back to win and there was hell to pay.

Wasn't it the White Sox - Astros WS game that was on till about 7am over here or something ? Sure it was as all I can remember was wishing it would finish before the day shift came in

They threatened to do it last year during that long World Series Game 3 which went on until 7.20am here, but on that occasion they decided to cut the kids programming.
Last night, they got as far as the bottom of the 9th, before the chop from Channel 5 HQ came.

No, you didn't offend. What could I have added - I look more like a muffin, than a stud muffin. Sorry if that shatters any illusions for anyone, but I can't lie about myself, can I?

The Hou-CWS WS put me to sleep. As usual, the division serieses were more exciting. If you guys could stay awake through the dawn I applaud you.

Economics. They were in debt and running at a loss. They had recently been relegated and could no longer make ends meet. They chose to resign while the debt was still smallish rather than let things snowball and be forced out by creditors a year or two down the line.

Teams do it all the time at the moment, resign from their league and join a league lower down the pyramid with lower running costs.

I didn't watch it last night, I even sent an email saying for the first time I was switching them off, reason being I got fed up the last couple weeks with them and their smug looks about going on this road trip every 5 minutes so told them to put it up their buttocks I was going to bed

Its not your fault though considering what you have to fight. Not fair to be hard on yourself.

They were bankrupt. Although the chairman of local rivals Burnley who took over the running of Accrington Stanley at the time of their money problems, is hardly blameless in it all - in fact he may have hastened their decline (not saying they wouldn't have gone bankrupt anyway) to get fans to come to his club instead.

Thank you. Wouldnt it make sense to cut the payroll though and stay in the league for financial reasons? Sure, they will probably be relegated, but why not stay as long as possible?

The bitterness towards Bob Lortd is so unfair. The club couldn't survive as a going concern. Any hope of survival ended with the end of a regionalised third tier. Lord was responsible, something that football folk rarely are. This is one reason I'm firmly against fan run clubs. Fans get carried away ala Ridsdale.

Safe to say that might not have been read on the air?

Also an interesting letter on the Ceefax letter pages from a P Foster in Wigan, saying how Manchester United fans have all come out of the woodwork after they beat the "poorest team in the Premiership" in Fulham, and that Gerrard DIDN'T dive for the penalty, and those who think he did should go to an optician.

I thought it might be you.
