Tom Fleming
Tom Fleming had a long pro career, coming to the majors in three unconnected seasons, 1899, 1902 and 1904. Born in Philadelphia, PA, in two of those three years he was with the Philadelphia Phillies. The minor league database has large gaps for him, but it appears he hit with very little power and playing mostly in the outfield. - bRef Bullpen wiki
Redid the facegen. Never use a green source file when you can gray-scale it first. I ended up seeing that one late and instead used the Photopack picture on the left for mine. |

Ed Gremminger
On December 11, 1901, the Boston Beaneaters purchased Gremminger from Rochester, giving him a second shot at the major leagues. He appeared in 140 games as the starting third baseman for them in 1902, compiling a .257 batting average with a .314 on-base percentage and .347 slugging percentage. His 65 RBIs ranked eighth in the National League, and his 33 extra-base hits ranked ninth. Defensively, he led the National League's third basemen with 222 putouts and a 951 fielding percentage. - Wikipedia
I had previously redone the facegen. I loaded the CU facegen to compare to what you likely have, luckymann, and so use that one in the "before" pic. Nevermind the Senators logo in the "before" shot as I created a team on an old computer to load the full CU pack to find him. |

Here is what I came up for Ted Williams. I wish it came out better when transferring from editor to ootp.

My sim now lists Finch at 170 lbs. Perhaps the Brew Crew sent him to the weight room? Or maybe it's just beer weight?
Anyhow, staying in Milwaukee, meet Kurt Kingsolver. A star on the 1979 Cal-Fullerton team that won the first of the Titans' four College World Series (Tim Wallach led the way), Kingsolver went in the 16th round to the Brewers and made steady-if-unspectacular progress through the levels, reaching AA El Paso (.752 OPS) in 1982. Alas, he flopped in his month at AAA Vancouver in 1983, was sent back to El Paso, and then cashiered when the front office decided they'd seen enough. (Or maybe an injury; I don't know.) In the sim, he got lucky that the AI Brewers didn't trade for Ted Simmons and got sick of Charlie Moore. (He's still on the team; they just wanted better.) So, once more, "fastest route to the majors". Kurt got a half-season's work in 1980 and did okay. (.721 OPS) Then he got less work in 1981 because hurlers figured him out (.527). Yes, they became King-Solvers. (Sorry!) This year, he's still the #1, but if he doesn't pick things up, "Buck Rodgers" might opt for more Moore, more or less. |

Kurt Kingsolver
Amazin', here's Kurt Kingsolver for you in a classic Brewer's uni. I even tried to keep some of the five o'clock shadow he was rocking on photo day...

Mike Welday
Mike Welday was a left-handed Major League Baseball outfielder who played for the Chicago White Sox in 1907 and 1909. Overall, he hit .202 in 53 major league games, collecting 22 hits in 109 at-bats. He had five runs, five RBI and two stolen bases. In the field, he committed six errors in 39 games for a .900 fielding percentage. - Wikipedia
Had no facegen, so did it from the photo on the left. |

Swat McCabe
Swat McCabe played all of thirteen games for the Cincinnati Reds in 1909-10 but his name lives on. In 1949 a little league in Bristol, CT was formed and given the name McCabe-Waters Little League, named after Swat McCabe and another local star named Clyde Waters. The league still exists. - bRef Bullpen wiki
I had no facegen for him so made this one. |

George Prentiss
A baseball and football star in his hometown of Wilmington, DE, pitcher George Prentiss became a fixture in the northeast minor leagues in the late 19th c. It seems that during the 1899 Waterbury home opener, George - despite having a fiancé back in Wilmington - had relations with fellow pitcher Fred Klobedanz's little sister, Emma. Several weeks later the sheriff stopped by, took George and the young lady to the church, roused the Reverend and got the couple married. Emma divorced a week later and poor George spent most of the subsequent minor league seasons running into Emma's siblings on the circuit. Alas, George's life was cut short during the 1902 season at the age of 26 when he succumbed to Typhoid Fever.
No facegen, so made this one. Needed a texture pack overlay. |

Walt Doan
Walt Doan (as cited as Doane) pitched briefly for the Cleveland Naps in 1909-10. Record of 0-1. ERA of 5.56. From there on it was exclusively the minor leagues for Walt. bRef Bullpen wiki notes he was just the second player from Idaho to make the Bigs. So there's that.
I had no facegen so worked on this one based on the pictures available. |

Roy Ellam
Roy Ellam was in the majors in 1909 and 1918. He also played many years in the minors, from at least 1908 to at least 1930 and managed at least 12 seasons in the minors. Ellam was enough of a defensive star that he got his first chance at the majors although he had hit only .196 in the minors.
This facegen was a tough one. The one in the CU pack used the bRef photo but I wanted something closer to what was on the Photopack thread. My import came through fine but the in-game (and bRef listed) height and weight plumps him up. So I had to emaciate the facegen to have him not look too heavy in the game relative to the pictures. |

Back from a quick trip to visit some friends. Should have everything from the thread downloaded and incorporated. Will be resuming the work on 1998 facegens tonight.

George Daly
February 18 1910, before the work of spring training was to begin the following day, the NY Giant veterans had some fun with the rookies, including George Daly (who didn't make the team and has but 1909 to his MLB credit).
"To-night the players are arranged for a big badger fight with a bird dog. Unless the reader knows how the badger fight game is worked he will not be able to sympathize with the young recruits from the East, who are ready for what they think will be keen sport. Daly and Lush have volunteered to hold the imaginary badger, while Zacher declares he is not afraid to sit on the barrel. As the reader perhaps knows, the badger is not always on the other end of the string..." Redid the facegen. Hope you had a great time with your friends over the long weekend, FancySkunk! |

Forrest More
Forrest More signed with the St. Louis Cardinals before the 1909 season. In his short stint with the team, he pitched in 15 games, mostly in relief, going 1–5 with a 5.04 ERA before being placed on waivers. The Boston Doves claimed him off waivers. More pitched in an additional ten games for the Doves, compiling a record of 1–5 and a 4.44 ERA. On April 5, 1910, More was sold by the Doves to the Chattanooga Lookouts and he continued his career in the minors leagues.
Kept the facegen but tried to not just colorize it but have it better align with the one good close-up photo I found. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 09-08-2021 at 01:07 AM. |

Emil Haberer
Emil Haberer came up with the Cincinnati Reds in 1901 as an infielder but came back in 1903 and 1909 as a catcher. 16 games and .149 /.231 / .213 slash line...
I had no facegen for Emil so made this one based on the bRef photo |

Jimmy Austin
One of the most energetic players of his era, Jimmy Austin was a sparkplug for the New York Highlanders and St. Louis Browns over an 18-year career. A speedy switch-hitting third baseman, Austin stole at least twenty bases in each of his first six major league seasons, and he was regularly among the league leaders in sacrifice hits. What he lacked in stature, the 5′ 7½” 155 lb. Austin made up for in hustle, leading his manager with New York, George Stallings, to give Austin the nickname “Pepper.” - SABR bio
Redid the facegen from the same picture. |

Harry McNeal
John Harley McNeal was never known as Harry but the name persists. McNeal attended Ohio Northern University law school while he actively pursued a career in baseball. His first professional game came at the top level of competition with the Cleveland Blues. He went 5-5 with a 4.43 ERA in his lone year in the Majors. After baseball he started the law firm that became McNeal & Schick (www.msablaw.com). His son later joined the firm and gained fame representing the Cleveland Indians in a suit brought against them by the Cleveland Indian Center to alter Chief Wahoo, the Tribe’s longstanding logo, from a “smiling dumb savage” to “a distinguished representative of an Indian.” - SABR
Redid the facegen. Had to smooth it out a lot to clean it up but I can still see him in there. Heck, I can still see the original facegen in there too so I can live with it. |
