With Williams as the GM, I wouldn't be so sure Seriously though, I am hoping that Cashman doesn't trade any top pitching prospects for quick fixes. At least Buehrle is young but I said the same thing about Weaver and Vazquez too

Yea, I took the Konerko rumor as the NY media trying to find a player that fits their need.

Moving Konerko would be dumb.

I would probably keep Vizcaino (it's not every team that has a reliever picking up 1/9th of the team's victories)

I won't do the research, but I wonder how many of those wins came after Vizcaino blew the lead.

Well, did the research because I can't just say something without making sure and it looks like Vizcaino "earned" those victories.

The May 3rd appearance against the Rangers is the only game in which Vizcaino got a BS and a W

Vizcaino has been lousy this year. Walk to K ratio of 22/27 is ghastly. He's given up 22 runs in 37 IP. Yuck!

That's not impressive, it just shows his luck. W-L records are a terrible way of evaluating pitchers.

I know it is. I can't stand this god-like status of RBI either.

You can post a line of 0-35 in a regular season with 35 complete games and an ERA of 1.00 and a WHIP of 0.11 if your offence fails to score, and most people would look at the 0-35 and think 'crap pitcher'

Would a WHIP of 0.11 even be possible if you had an ERA of 1.00? You'd have to give up a homerun per game, pitch a few no-hitters through 9, and go into the 10th inning a few times.

Of course, I'm just giving you a hard time because I'm bored.

edit: This is why I didn't study math. I'd have to change that to giving up one homerun in every start and nothing else. Talk about bad luck.

Especially relief pitchers. I would prefer mine to all be 0-0.

And, turning it around, look at poor Pettitte who could be 9-5 now instead of 4-5 with a little bit of help from his bullpen. He's been great, and 4-5 does not tell the story at all.

An Iron Man avatar. I hope they do justice to the character, but I'm not having my hopes too high.

I don't know why, but I just can't stand watching Yankee/Oriole games. I just find the matchups ridiculously boring.

For those Baseball Prospectus guys, can you direct me to the link that apparently mentions the Yankees as now having the best core of pitching prospects in baseball?

Better hope this is true because things just don't look good in New York.

A stat on the wrap on MLB.com was that the Yankees haven't been below 0.500 this late in a season (because the season is really late at the moment) since September 1995.

And Clemens not striking anyone out for the first time in over 200 starts.

The only good point for the Yankees is that Big Papi seems to becoming un-clutch at the wrong time (him, Manny and 'tek went a combined 1-15 last night)
