Jean Serres
Luxembourg Rating 1 HW 1950-56 In looking through BoxRec for guys who've fought in various titles, I ran across this Jean Serres whom I saw fought quite a few guys who I already had in the DB. Upon starting to rate him I realized then that I already had him in the DB rated by David Myers. Not sure how long ago that was. I decided to load him up into a schedule to see how he performed. Quite well David! I tweeked only a couple things. I lowered his HP to 0 and upped his Chin numbers one each. That seemed to pull the number of times he was stopped in a fight (11) in a bit better and got his knockdowns to around 1 or 2 every 27 bouts simmed. Otherwise a darn nice rating by David. I've added a bit of bio info with the attached file. 6 wins / 16 losses / 4 draws / 1 KO ========== Rated by David Myers (Tweeked just a little by Rocco) Defeated Ray Schmit in October 1953 for the Luxemburgian LHW Title in a 12 round decision. Serres' only other win of note was an 8 round decision over Robert Warmbrunn. Serres' weak chin(11 times stopped) accounted for his lack of success against more seasoned fighters. His losses mounted up against Robert Eugene, Willi Hoepner, Ansell Baba Adams, Jo Weidin, Gunther Nurnberg, Willi Besmanoff, Jose Peyre, Charles Colin, Peter Bates, Franco Cavicchi, Fernando Jannilli, Dick Richardson and Aldo Pellegrini. He did manage a draw with Hugo Salfeld and twice fought draws with Young Al Bernard. |

Heinz Sachs Rating 3
Light Heavyweight, Germany 29 wins / 19 losses / 11 draws / 15 KO Hometown: Krefeld, Germany Birthplace: Dresden, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Sachs started his career with 13 straight victories before loosing an 8 round decision to Rudi Pepper in May 1950. After an 8 round draw with fellow German LHW Paul Schirmann, Sachs lost consecutive 8 round decisions to Americans Ken Stribling (who once was KO'd by Jake LaMotta) and Lloyd Marshall. A couple months after the Marshall loss, Sachs defeated Richard Vogt via 4th round KO to win the German LHW Title. Vogt and Sachs fought a 12 round draw rematch the following March. After loosing an 8 round decision to Renato Tontini in April 1951, Sachs fought another 12 round draw, this time to Hans Strelecki for Sachs' LHW crown, in May of that year. About 2 months later in early July 1951, Sachs lost his crown when he was KO'd in the 3rd round by Willi Hoepner. Sachs twice more, in 1952 and 1954 fought Hoepner for the German LHW title loosing both times via 12 round decision and 2nd round KO. Sachs' many fights between late 1951 and 1956 included wins over Don Ellis twice and Johnny Barton. He fought draws with Stephane Olek, Ray Schmit, Don Ellis twice, Willi Besmanoff and Franz Szuzina. The losses against the tougher competition piled up. He dropped fights to Szuzina, Ellis twice, Hoepner twice in the title fights, Gianbattista Alfonsetti, Wim Snoek three times, Ray Schmit twice, Charles Colin, Willi Besmanoff and Willi Schagen. |

Hans Strelecki Rating 1
Light Heavyweight Germany 25 wins / 22 losses / 8 draws / 7 KO Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Strelecki was stopped 18 times in his 22 losses. He fought Heinz Sachs to a 12 round draw in May 1951 in an attempt to take Sachs German LHW Title. His career started with a win and loss against Carl Schmidt. He then won against Conny Rux. Both of those wins came about with Schmidt and Rux being DQ'd. He then lost to Rudi Pepper, drew 6 rounds with Heinz Neuhaus, and lost to Peter Mueller and twice to Heinz Sachs. He then strung 7 consecutive wins against the bottom of barrel lot before taking on Lloyd Marshall and Don Lee in late 1950. Strelecki managed a draw against Marshall and an 8 round decision over Lee. That set up his LHW title fight against Sachs. Sachs fought 7 more years without another chance at any title. Getting stopped 15 times probably didn't help convince anyone to give him a shot. Hans did manage wins over Don Ellis and Stephane Olek and draws with Ellis, Hans Friedrich, Willi Besmanoff and Cesare Bagnoli while loosing fights to Gerhard Hecht, Willi Hoepner, Jimmy King, Friedrich, Johnny Barton, Leen Jansen twice, Charles Colin. In June and July 1956 he gave a young new German fighter by the name of Albert Westphal his 2nd and 3rd career fights. Strelecki managed to decision Westphal in thier first fight in 4 rounds then was stopped in the 4th round by TKO by Albert in the second meeting. Strelecki managed to string 4 wins after that then lost his last 5 career fights all by KO or TKO to Ottavio Panunzi. Westphal, Jacques Bro and then twice to a Tony Gruber. |

Renato Moraes Rating 4
Brazil Light Heavyweight 1961-68 20 wins / 14 losses / 4 draws / 12 KO Birthplace: Sao Paolo, Brazil Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Moraes fought middle to top competition throughout his career. He started out with a 10 round decision win over Hugo Medina(24-8-4) then lost a 12 round decision in his very next fight against Hiram Campos for the Bazilian LHW Title. Campos won his next 2 fights to Hugo Medina and then lost 3 of his last 4 career fight. Renato meanwhile went on to win 19 more fights but never again fought for a title. Renato compiled a 19-6-2 record in the first five years. Besides the Medina win, other victories were over Ottavio Panunzi twice, Giulio Rinaldi, Helmut Ball, Federico Friso, Johnny Halafihi, Mariano Echevarria, Jack Bodell, Moussa Sangaree, Albert Duscha, Alfredo Vogrig twice, Johnny Otto, Johnny Ould, and Carl Gizzi. He fought draws with Vogrig, French middleweight Michel Diouf(43-32-6,20KO), and Giulio Saraudi. He fought Freddy Mack to a 7 round no contest when the bout was halted and called a no contest. Disgusted fans littered the ring with debris. In that same time span he lost fights to Freddy Mack, Johnny Halafihi, Piero Del Papa, Jose Angel Manzur(31-33-14,13KO) who held the Argentinian LHW Title a couple years previous to fighting Moraes. After defeating Carl Gizzi in early September 1966 things started going south for Moraes. Two weeks after winning the 8 round decision over Gizzi, Renato lost a 10 round decision to Jack Bodell. It was the start of a 1-8-2 skid over the remainder of his career. Other losses were to Luis Folledo, Nino Benvenuti, Billy Gray, Johnny Persol, Jurgen Blin, Miguel Angel Paez and Ramon Avenamar Peralta. He managed draws with Ray Patterson and Benito Canal. His only win was a 10 round decision over Mariano Echevarria in May 1967. A dissappointing end to what had been a pretty decent career going. |

Giovanni Biancardi Rating 4
Italy Light Heavyweight 1962-71 29 wins / 2 losses / 0 draws / 14 KO Birthplace: Pavia, Italy Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Giovanni won his first 27 fights, 13 by KO. Of those 27 fights all but 3 in Milan and 1 in Copenhagen, Denmark, were fought in his home town of Pavia,Italy. The first 17 wins were against some pretty bad fighters, a lot of them middleweights with pretty bad career records. They included Giovanni Ferrario(2-14-1), Charley Kassem(2-26-0), Gino Rossi(14-35-3), Jorge Fiordelmondo(3-20-2), Mario Della Corte(3-19-6), Marc Desforneaux(1-42-5), Ali Amrane(0-29-1), and Gianfranco Giannini(7-26-3). After 3-1/2 years of laboring against the "talent", Biancardi started to get some competition. He won a 2 round affair against Alfredo Vogrig in Jan 1966 when Vogrig was DQ'd. Over the next couple years he then won fights against Gerry Hassett, Guerrino Scattolin, Victor Chapelle, Lloyd Walford, Sonny Moore and finally in May 1968, Dave Barber to run his record to 27-0-0. In October 1968, Biancardi then got a shot at the Italian LHW Title against Vittorio Saraudi. Saraudi stopped Biancardi in the 6th round. After that Biancardi did not fight for almost a year. He fought and won one fight each in June 1969 and Feb 1970, then in January 1971 he fought for the last time when Lothar Stengel TKO'd him in the first round in Berlin, Germany only the 2nd time Biancardi fought outside of Italy, let alone Pavia. |

Guerrino Scattolin Rating 5
Italy Light Heavyweight 1960-72 20 wins / 14 losses / 2 draws / 10 KO Birthplace: Marcon, Italy Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Scattolin won his first 3 fights including a 5th round TKO of Hans Gunter Huber(7-36-4,5KO). Then in March 1961 Scattolin faced Piero Del Papa who was 3-0 also in his early career. Del Papa out pointed Scattolin in 6 rounds. Scattolin then won 10 of his next 11 bouts, including an 8 round decision over Ottavio Panunzi(21-12-0,10KO) and after a 6 round draw with Manfred Lessmann, Scattolin then fought Del Papa in June 1963 for the Italian LHW Title. Del Papa was 19-0-2 at the time. The fight was stopped in the 11th round because of rain and declared a no contest. They fought again in September, 3 months later, this time Del Papa winning a 12 round decision. After a win when his opponent was DQ'd in the 4th round a month after the loss to Del Papa, Scattolin then lost his next four bouts to Benito Michelon, Klaus Peter Gumpert, Vittorio Saraudi and Alfredo Vogrig. After a draw with Vogrig and a meaningless win, Scattolin then lost a 10 round decision to an undefeated (21-0-0) Giovanni Biancardi in June 1966. He fought twice more in 1966 knocking out Adriano Rosati(22-16-4,10KO) and loosing a decision to Lothar Stengel. Six months after fighting no one after the loss to Stengel, Scattolin was giving another shot at the Italian LHW Title, in 1967, this time against Vittorio Saraudi. It was another 12 round decision loss for Scattolin. After that Scattolin fought only twice in 1968 defeating Cosimo Bruno and Flavio Mazzoni(9-1-0,6KO), and then lost an 8 round decision to Chris Finnegan in October 1970 after two years of inactivity in the ring. In March 1971 he lost a 10 round decision to Conny Velensek. In September 1971 Scattolin fought one last time for the Italian LHW Title, this time against Domenico Adinolfi. Again another 12 round loss for Scattolin. Five months later a 7th round KO to Kosie Smith sent Scattoln into retirement. |

Hans Gunter Huber Rating 1
Germany Light Heavyweight 1953-62 7 wins / 36 losses / 4 draws / 5 KO Birthplace: Freiburg, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto This guy kept showing up in the records of other fighters I'd been rating so I decided to do him. Huber and his glass jaw (stopped 21 times in 36 losses) was easy fodder for many of his opponents very early in thier careers looking to pick up easy wins. After a 4th round KO ov a Werner Munch(0-9-0) to start his career, Huber then lost 8 straight including to Horst Niche, Antonio Crosia, Cesare Bagnoli, Marcel Limage, Heinz Sachs, Charles Colin, and Uwe Janssen. Huber finally picked up win number 2 with a 6th round KO of Lorenzo Rocci. Rocci then outpointed Huber in a rematch and the two fought a 3rd straight fight that ended in an 8 round draw. Then came 9 straight losses, including to Wim Snoek, Erwin Hack twice, Franco Festucci, Horst Niche, and Erich Schoppner. Francois Kania then became Huber's 3rd victim by a 10th round KO in April 1957. Huber was KO'd in 3 in his next fight by Massimo Zanaboni making his boxing debute, then Huber won his 4th fight knocking out Ottavio Panunzi in the 5th round. Panunzi stopped Huber in a rematch in September 1957 and that was followed by losses to Gilbert Chapron, Tony Gruber and a Klaus Langhammer. Huber then beat a guy named Poldi Bauer(0-4-0) twice for wins 5 and 6. His next fight in November 1958 he lost a 4 round decision to Karl Mildenberger who was taking on Huber for his second opponent. After a draw to a Wenzel Bociek, Huber lost to Plinio Scarabellin and Bociek. He then fought a 4 round draw and won a 3rd round KO against a couple of guys who'd never fought before. That was followed by losses to Nico Schoenmaker and Germinal Ballarin, a draw with an H Zollner who had no record and then Huber finished out his career with 8 straight losses. The losses incluced to Wladislas Kopec, Ottavio Panunzi, Guerrino Scattolin and Piero Tomasoni(4-0 at the time). |
