Detroit Wolverines (54-32 .628 1 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Cleveland Spiders (43-43 .500 12 GB tied for 5th place)

I sent 3B Sam Boullion (25-4.8) and 1B/OF Jim Oman (24-5.8) to Syracuse and called up 1B/OF Spider Thomas (29-4.6) and SS Russell Gardner (31-6.4). They will both go into the starting lineup to see what they can do. 3B Harry Robinson (26-3.3) will start until Boullion starts clobbering they ball in Syracuse, which I am confident he will start doing before too long.

Detroit Wolverines (54-33 .621 2 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Cleveland Spiders (44-43 .506 12 GB in 5th place)

I sent for 1B/OF Jim Oman (24-5.8) to come back from Syracuse until CF Fred Bianco (26-6.9) is ready to play again.

Ed Bush, Det. (25-5.3) (R 7-7 2.40 6.9-3.6-5.6 H-BB-K/9) vs. Willis Kornfield, Clev. (32-6.0) (R 22-19 2.86 8.8-2.8-3.8)

Lost - 4 to 3

3 runs again!!

Bush allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run.

Kornfield gave us 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5.

We made 4 errors and Cleveland made 3. We have 21 errors in our last 5 games.

PH Jackie Porter (31-6.3) hit a 2-run pinch-hit double. I wish I could get him into the regular lineup, but he can only play right and left and both those spots are manned by good players. The only option would be to move my Gold Glover from right field and put him in center or at first, where he is not special and Porter is not good on defense, so he will have to be satisfied with pinch-hit duties and an occasional start. 2B Jocko Cole (23-6.1) had 2 hits with a triple but made 2 errors. LF Ben Smith (26-6.9) hit a double and drew a walk and scored a run. 1B Spider Thomas (29-4.6) had 2 hits and an RBI.

Liberty League:

Troy (5) at Rochester (3): Miah Turner (24-5.3) (22-19) over William Rose (34-4.9) (10-19). Turner allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. Rose allowed 10 hits, 1 walk and struck out 1. At bat, he had 2 hits and an RBI. SS Bill Lawson (29-6.9) had 3 hits with a double, but no runs or RBIs. The losing streak reached 17.

Cincinnati (7) at Washington (5): John Stevens (28-8.2) (25-16) over Bill Crawford (27-7.2) (1-1). Stevens allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 4. Crawford allowed 9 hits, 3 walks and struck out 8. At bat, he had a hit and scored a run. LF Fleet Wilcox (28-4.9) had 3 hits with a double and a walk, stole 2 bases, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. 1B Joe Vaughan (30-5.2) had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBIs.

Boston (3) at New York (7): Count Childs (29-3.1) (22-22) over Joe Peters (29-4.9) (32-11). Childs allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5. Peters allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. Boston made 7 errors to 1 for New York. Go Gothams! Rookie CF Pussy Wise (24-6.8) had 2 hits, stole a base, scored a run and had 2 RBIs.

Grand National Association:
Brooklyn (5) at Baltimore (3): Al Green (22-3.8) (12-8) over Pop Yurkovich (33-5.6) (17-28). Green allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. Yurkovich allowed 8 hits, 3 walks and struck out 3. 3B Tom Campbell (27-3.6) had 2 hits with a double, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Providence (11) at Kansas City (13): Lew Burnett (24-4.5) (6-6) over Frank McSherry (30-4.1) (18-17). McSherry tied the all-time record by walking 11 batters and he did it in only 5.1 innings. 3B Erve More (26-4.5) had 3 hits with a double and a home run, drew a walk, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. The game really was not close; Providence scored 5 times in the final 2 innings.

Pittsburgh (4) at Chicago (2): Tom Adams (31-6.0) (30-12) over Pete Rinehart (26-6.2) (20-22). Adams allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 6. Rinehart allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4. 3B Charlie Hart (26-2.9) had 3 hits, but no runs or RBIs.

Detroit Wolverines (54-34 .614 1.5 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Washington Nationals (36-52 .409 19.5 GB in 7th place)

We begin a 4 game series against manager/P Lou Townley (23-3.4) and his Nationals today. So far, we are 10-2 against them, but that was before they went and got themselves a pitching staff. We swept them 4 games in Detroit back in the middle of July the last time we met. They are 6th in the league in runs scored with 4.5 per game (Detroit is 5th with 4.7). They are 5th in runs allowed with 4.8 per game (Detroit is #1 with 3.9). The Swampdoodle Grounds favors pitchers to a small degree, but you can hit one out to right if you have a notion.

William McLeod, Det. (26-5.6) (R 27-12 1.95 6.7-2.7-4.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. Lou Townley, Wash. (23-3.4) (R 23-21 2.16 8.2-1.3-5.0)

Won - 4 to 3

4 runs!!

McLeod allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. At bat, he had a hit.

Townley gave us 9 hits, no walks and struck out 7.

We made 6 errors and Washington made 2. We have 27 errors in our last 6 games.

1B Spider Thomas (29-4.6) had a hit, stole a base and scored 2 runs. C Evan Eckberg (29-3.5) had 2 hits with a double and an RBI. CF Harley Becker (31-6.8) hit a double and had 2 RBIs, but made 3 errors.

Liberty League:

Boston (9) at Troy (8): Joe Peters (29-4.9) (33-11) over Miah Turner (24-5.3) (22-20). Peters allowed 12 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. Boston scored twice in the top of the 9th after the first two batters were put out to take the lead. LF Charlie Warner (31-9.2) had 3 hits with his 8th home run of the season and had 3 RBIs. SS John Ingling (25-4.6) had 4 hits with a triple scored a run and had 3 RBIs. It was hie 2-out 2-run single that put the Red Caps in the lead in the top of the 9th.

New York (3) at Rochester (2): John Allen (27-6.4) (17-17) over William Rose (34-4.9) (10-20). Allen allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had 3 hits. Rose allowed 12 hits (5 in the top of the 9th), no walks and struck out no one. The losing streak reaches 19, but at least they finally had a near miss. The Jingoes were leading 1 to 0 going into the 9th inning.

Cincinnati (4) at Cleveland (5): Willis Kornfield (32-6.0) (24-19) over John Stevens (28-8.2) (25-17). Kornfield allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he hit a double, scored a run and had an RBI. He has won 5 of his last 6. Stevens allowed 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. Rookie 1B Hunkey Morton (24-6.9) had 3 hits, stole a base and scored 2 runs.

Grand National Association:

Brooklyn (8) at Milwaukee (4): Al Green (22-3.8) (13-8) over Dan Burton (30-4.9) (27-29). Green allowed 8 hits, 1 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit and 2 RBIs. Burton allowed 9 hits, 2 walks and struck out 8. Ex-Haymaker LF John Strother (34-5.4) hit a home run, drew a walk and scored twice.

Detroit Wolverines (55-34 .618 1.5 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Washington Nationals (36-53 .404 20.5 GB in 7th place)

Ed Bush, Det. (25-5.3) (R 7-8 2.45 7.0-3.5-5.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. Lou Townley, Wash. (23-3.4) (R 23-22 2.18 8.2-1.3-5.1)

Won - 4 to 2

4 runs!!! In back-to-back games, no less! My head is spinning! The Liberty League averages almost 5 runs per game. We have played 12 straight games where we scored under the average. Pitiful. LF Ben Smith (26-6.7) is no longer hitting the cover off the ball and so we are no longer scoring many runs.

Bush allowed 5 hits, 4 walks and struck out 7.

Townley gave us 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit.

We made 2 errors and Washington made 5.

CF Joe Kraus (28-7.9) had 2 hits, stole a base and scored 2 runs. 1B Spider Thomas (29-4.6) hit a triple, scored a run and had an RBI.

Liberty League:

Cincinnati (10) at Cleveland (7): Lou Ellard (27-6.3) (16-17) over Jim Ludwig (25-4.6) (9-16). Ellard allowed 10 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs. He has won 5 of his last 6. Ludwig has lost 9 of 11. 1B Joe Vaughan (30-5.2) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. 2B Fred Vay (34-6.0) had 3 hits with a double, stole a base, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. RF Billy Ross (29-5.6) hit 2 doubles and drew a walk, scored a run and had an RBI, but had to leave with a pulled muscle in his back and will miss about 5 weeks. His replacement, Danny Bolus (33-5.4) came in and also hurt his back and will miss a week or so. For Cleveland, LF Clipper Wilson (29-4.4) had 4 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Troy (4) at Boston (5): Charlie Morlock (36-6.7) (14-10) over Harry Lamb (30-6.4) (21-16). Morlock allowed 7 hits, 3 walks and struck out 6. At bat, he had a hit and a walk and 2 RBIs. For the 2nd game in a row, Boston scores in the 9th to win the game. It is starting to look like Fate favors the Red Caps. Manager/1b Pete Bucolo (37-4.1) drew a bases-loaded 2-out walk to end this one. SS John Ingling (25-4.6) had 2 hits with a triple, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI.

Grand National Association:
Chicago (1) at Pittsburgh (4): Tom Lilly (25-6.4) (32-15) over Pete Rinehart (26-6.2) (20-23). Lilly allowed 2 hits, no walks and struck out 6. At bat, he had a hit and a walk and scored a run. Rinehart allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. 1B Dan White (25-5.1) had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI.

Kansas City (5) at Providence (3): Al McClaughry (21-5.6) (16-9) over Frank McSherry (30-4.1) (18-18). McClaughry allowed 6 hits, no walks and struck out 2. McSherry allowed 3 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. Manager/CF Connie Frenette (30-4.7) had 2 hits and scored a run.

Baltimore (1) at Omaha (2): Lee Sprague (25-3.5) (21-9) over Pop Yurkovich (33-5.6) (17-29). Sprague allowed 8 hits, 1 walks and struck out 5. Yurkovich allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6. LF Dave Cunningham (30-5.4) had 2 hits and a walk and scored a run. The Mutuals have won 9 in a row, but Pittsburgh has won 6 in a row, so they cannot gain any ground.

Brooklyn (1) at Milwaukee (2): Tom Washam (33-6.1) (20-13) over Ren French (24-4.9) (4-8). Washam allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. French allowed 5 hits, no walks and struck out 1. At bat, he had a hit. 1B Harold Bradley (27-5.1) hit his 2nd home run of the year.

Detroit Wolverines (56-34 .622 1.5 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Washington Nationals (36-54 .400 21.5 GB in 7th place)

William McLeod, Det. (26-5.6) (R 28-12 1.90 6.7-2.6-4.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. Lou Townley, Wash. (23-3.4) (R 23-23 2.20 8.2-1.2-5.1)

Won - 3 to 1

3 runs!!!! We have now played 13 straight games where we scored under the average.

McLeod allowed 4 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit.

Townley gave us 6 hits, no walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had a hit. We have now beaten Townley in 5 of the 6 games he has faced us, but it wasn't ever his fault he lost. He only walked 1 batter in the 6 games total. This kid reminds me of Lee Sprague, only smarter. They're both kind of mean and have great control, but throw the ball hard. Townley even throws it harder, I think. What I wouldn't give to have him pitching in front one of one of my defenses. We'd be unbeatable!

We made 2 errors and Washington made 6.

SS Sam Swanger (33-4.8) had 2 hits. 1B Jim Oman (24-5.8) hit a triple and scored a run. 2B Russell Gardner (31-6.4) hit a triple and had 2 RBIs.

Liberty League:
Boston (4) at Troy (3) in 11 innings: Freddy Wood (29-6.3) (11-11) over Tom Marshman (34-4.7) (5-11). In 11 innings, Wood allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. At bat, he had 2 hits and an RBI. Marshman allowed 13 hits, 3 walks and struck out 5. 3rd straight last at bat win for the Red Caps. SS John Ingling (25-4.6) tripled and P Wood executed a successful squeeze play to score the go ahead run in the 11th. Ingling had 3 hits, stole a base and had an RBI.

In the Southern League (B), CF Tom Evans (28-7.7) accomplished the same feat in the Atlantas 4 to 3 win over the Memphis Browns. He scored twice and had 2 RBIs. His home run came with the bases empty in the 8th inning to break a 3-3 tie.

I sent 3B Harry Robinson (26-3.3 and OF/1B Harley Becker (31-6.8) to Syracuse and called back CF Dusty Godwin (25-6.7) and IF Chris Van Rooyen (28-3.0). Neither of the guys I called back can hit, but the alleged hitters aren't hitting either and these two can at least play defense.

Liberty League:
Boston (6) at Troy (10): Miah Turner (24-5.3) (23-21) over Joe Peters (29-4.9) (33-12). Turner allowed 10 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. For Boston, rookie CF Pat Stafford (24-5.4) broke his hand and will miss the rest of the season.

New York (5) at Rochester (0): Count Childs (29-3.1) (24-23) over William Rose (34-4.9) (10-22). Childs allowed 4 hits, 3 walks and struck out 2. At bat, he had 2 hits and a walk and scored 2 runs. Childs has proven he can beat the Jingoes. This was his 4th shutout of the season and all 4 have been against Rochester. Rose allowed 9 hits, 4 walks and struck out 2. Rochester made 6 errors. RF Willie Rudd (35-5.2) had 2 hits with a double, stole a base, scored a run and had an RBI. CF Lorenzo Chappell (25-5.2) will take the next two weeks to rest and see if his sore back improves.

Detroit Wolverines (58-34 .630 1 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Cincinnati Reds (50-42 .543 9 GB in 3rd place)

We begin a 4 game series against manager/CF Silver Borresen (31-6.9) and his Reds today. So far we are 5-7 against them on the season. They beat us 3 of 4 in Detroit a couple of weeks ago. They are 3rd in the league in runs scored with 5.3 per game (Detroit is 5th with 4.8). They are 4th in runs allowed with 4.7 per game (Detroit is #1 with 3.8). Cincinnati's League Park is by far the easiest place to hit a home run in the Liberty League. This series will be our final road games of the season.

William McLeod, Det. (26-5.6) (R 29-12 1.88 6.7-2.6-4.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. John Stevens, Cin. (28-8.2) (R 26-17 1.78 7.3-1.2-5.1)

Providence (8) at Baltimore (9): Pop Yurkovich (33-5.6) (18-30) over Frank McSherry (30-4.1) (18-19). You don't see Yurkovich getting wins like this very often. He deserves one every once in a while. Detroit Wolverines (59-34 .634 1 GB in 2nd place in the Liberty League) at
Cincinnati Reds (50-43 .538 10 GB in 3rd place)

Ed Bush, Det. (25-5.3) (R 9-8 2.29 6.9-3.5-5.4 H-BB-K/9) vs. Lou Ellard, Cin. (27-6.3) (R 16-18 3.12 9.2-2.4-2.8)

Won - 5 to 4 in 15 innings

Let me tell you that extra innings in this little ballpark are very tense when you know that at any moment anyone can hit one over the fence and end the game. But no one ever did hit one out today. He were down 4 to 1, but caught a break when Ellard got hurt and had to leave the game in the 8th. He had been frustrating us all day. Tom Blomberg (27-4.7) was the new pitcher and we scored 3 in the 9th to tie the game up.

Bush went 8 innings, allowed 4 runs, 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4. At bat, he had 2 hits with a triple and scored a run.

William McLeod (26-5.6) came in and was dealing bullets from the get-go. He gave up a hit in the bottom of the 9th, but struck out the side. He pitched 7 shutout innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. At bat, he hit a double to lead off the top of the 15th and scored the go-ahead run.

Ellard went 7.1 innings, allowed 1 run, 5 hits, no walks and strcuk out 3. At bat, he hit 2 doubles and scored a run.

We ended up with 16 hits and made no errors. In 15 innings, that is impressive! Cincinnati made 4.

RF Joe Kraus (28-7.9) had 3 hits, stole 2 bases, and had 2 RBIs. Our big guns, 2B Jocko Cole (23-6.1) and LF Ben Smith (26-6.7) went 2 for 14 with 4 strikeouts. 1B Spider Thomas (29-4.6) had 4 hits with a double and 2 triples, drew a walk, scored a run and had an RBI. His triple in the top of the 145th, put us in the lead. Why didn't I think to make him a first baseman from the get-go? SS Sam Swanger (33-4.8) had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI.

For the Reds, 3B Frank Young was 2 for 2 with a double, stole a base and scored a run, but had to leave after dislocating his shoulder sliding into second with the steal. Our catcher never made a throw on the play. Young will miss the rest of the season and that is a shame. He has been in this league since 1876 and was having the best season of his career. Ellard had a pulled hamstring and will likely miss the rest of the games.

Liberty League:
Rochester (6) at Troy (4): Bill McClean (39-6.0) (9-40) over Harry Lamb (30-6.4) (22-17). McClean allowed 7 hits, 2 walks and struck out 2. Lamb allowed 8 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7. 1B Pete Hinde (30-7.9) had 3 hits, stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs.

Cleveland (7) at Washington (6): Jim Ludwig (25-4.6) (11-16) over Lou Townley (23-3.4) (23-26). Ludwig allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 1. At bat, he had a hit. Townley allowed 10 hits, 4 walks and struck out 6. Cleveland scored twice in the top of the 9th to take the lead. RF Joe Coffey (29-5.2) tripled home the tying run and scored the go-ahead run on an error.

New York (5) at Boston (4) in 12 innings: Jack Roberts (33-6.1) (1-0) over Freddy Wood (29-6.3) (11-12) in relief of Joe Peters (29-4.9). Roberts, who led the Liberty League in innings each of the past 4 seasons, had to sit most of this one out after tearing a muscle in his back in Spring Training. He made his season debut today with no time in A Ball to get back in shape. In 11.1 innings, he allowed 11 hits, 6 walks and struck out no one. That's what you call a "gutsy" performance. After he walked a batter in the bottom of the 12th, John Allen (27-6.4) came on to get the final 2 outs. In 9 innings, Peters allowed 8 hits, 6 walks and struck out 6. Manager/LF Hi Lynch broke a bone in his elbow and will miss the rest of the season. His replacement, rookie Jake Herrmann (26-3.6) had 3 hits with a double and a triple and scored a run. He is 9 for 18 (.500) since being called up from A Ball. Detroit and Boston are now dead even in the pennant race with 18 games to play. The two teams will meet in Detroit for the final series of the year.

Grand National Association:
Kansas City (3) at Brooklyn (2): Al McClaughry (21-5.6) (20-9) over Ren French (24-4.9) (4-10). McClaughry allowed 9 hits, no walks and struck out 7. At bat he had a hit. He has won 7 in a row. French allowed 11 hits, no walks and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit. The Cowboys scored a run in each of the first 3 innings and the Gladiators scored twice in the 5th. SS Fred Umbaugh (24-5.4) had 3 hits, stole a base and had an RBI. LF Lou Baggett (23-4.2) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the year, stole a base and scored twice.

Providence (6) at Baltimore (11): Tom Wilmarth (25-5.4) (11-23) over Sam Paul (30-5.4) (15-19). CF Nat Lusk (25-6.4) had 4 hits, stole 4 bases and scored 3 runs. LF John Cray (28-7.0) had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the year, scored twice and had 3 RBIs. For the Grays, RF John Froom (37-6.2) had 4 hits and an RBI. Providence has now lost 11 in a row. 333 people bought a ticket to see their beloved last-place O's. Our A Ball team in Syracuse drew 642.

Chicago (2) at Omaha (7): Lee Sprague (25-3.5) (24-9) over Pony Stanley (22-6.2) (14-19). Sprague allowed 6 hits, 2 walks and struck out 4. He has won 10 in a row and Omaha has won 13 straight and still not an inch of ground gained. SS Rube Ford (34-5.1) had 2 hits with a double, took a beaning, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.

Pittsburgh (6) at Milwaukee (0): Tom Adams (31-6.0) (32-12) over Tom Washam (33-6.1) (20-15). Adams allowed 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 1. He won his 6th in a row and Pittsburgh has won 10 straight. This was his 4th shutout of the year. SS Jim Ware (31-5.6) had 2 hits with a triple and scored 2 runs.

Detroit Wolverines (60-34 .638 tied for 1st place in the Liberty League) at
Cincinnati Reds (50-44 .532 10 GB in 3rd place)

Since I used McLeod yesterday, Keough gets to make his first major league start today. He will give up 10 home runs in this little box, but I don't want to risk hurting Ed Bush by making him start in back-to-back games. He'll probably end up pitching some in relief, though. And we are facing another rookie making his debut, so maybe it will even out.

Zenas Keough, Det. (24-4.5) (R 1-0 3.00 9.0-9.0-3.0 H-BB-K/9) vs. Bert Fischer, Cin. (24-5.6) (L 25-20 2.33 8.0-2.7-3.6 in A Ball)

Lost - 5 to 2

Well, it did not even out. Their rookie was awesome, ours was not.

McKeough went 7 innings, allowed 9 hits, 1 walk and struck out 4.

Bush pitched the final inning and allowed a walk, but was otherwise unscathed.

Fischer gave us 3 hits, all singles, 3 walks and struck out 2.

We made 1 error and Cincinnati made 4.

For the Reds, 1B Joe Vaughan (30-5.2) had 3 hits with 2 home runs and a walk and 3 RBIs. He has now hit 3 of his 6 home runs against us.

Liberty League:

New York (0) at Troy (12): Miah Turner (24-5.3) (24-21) over Jack Roberts (33-6.1) (1-1). Turner allowed 7 hits, no walks and struck out 10. At bat, he had 2 hits and an RBI. He pitched his 2nd shutout of the season. RF Ed Wakefield (25-5.8) had 3 hits with a double, 2 walks, scored 3 runs and had2 RBIs. He also took over the lead in the batting title rave from the slumping Ben Smith. 3B Sam Cowan (29-5.1) had 4 hits with a double and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs.

Cleveland (8) at Washington (5): Jim Ludwig (25-4.6) (12-16) over Bill Crawford (27-7.2) (1-3). Ludwig allowed 13 hits, 2 walks and struck out no one. At bat, he had 2 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBIs. C Kid Wright (30-7.3) had 3 hits with a double and his 5th home run of the year, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. Washington has lost 8 in a row.

Rochester (7) at Boston (3): Bill Henson (28-6.5) (4-7) in relief of William Rose (34-4.9) over Freddy Wood (29-6.3) (11-13). Rose had to leave after giving up a lead-off hit with a sore back and will miss a week or so. Henson went 9 innings, allowed 8 hits, 2 walks and struck out 5. At bat, he hit a triple and had 2 RBIs. Wood allowed 10 hits, 1 walk and struck out 5. LF John Rodgers (33-4.4) had 2 hits with a triple and scored 2 runs. Go Jingoes! The have won back-to-back games for thei first time since July. Their record for a winning streak is 3. For the Red Caps, CF George Kunz (32-5.7) tore a ligament in his thumb and will miss the rest of the season. Detroit Wolverines (60-35 .632 tied for 1st place in the Liberty League) at
Cincinnati Reds (51-44 .537 9 GB in 3rd place)

Our final road game of the year. Fred Bianco (26-6.9) is back and ready to play, so Jim Oman (24-5.8) is back in Syracuse.

We need to win this game to split the series with the Reds for the season.

William McLeod, Det. (26-5.6) (R 31-12 1.81 6.6-2.7-4.5 H-BB-K/9) vs. John Stevens, Cin. (28-8.2) (R 26-18 1.83 7.4-1.2-5.1)

Lost - 10 to 1
