These types of games really highlight what I think is the flaw in the Detroit offense - they have little ability to take the extra base in any situation. It is hard to imagine a less athletic middle of the order than hurt Miggy-Lil Cecil-V Mart-Peralta. Right now the hot guys are Martinez and Peralta, but they can't drive guys from first or even second in most cases. Even 3 baserunners in an inning isn't a good chance at a run.

Sure, Cabrera not hitting like Ted Williams isn't helping much either....

This gets exposed every year in the post season. Yet, every year they do nothing to address it. Sure it's great to have the big 3 batting 3,4,5 but if they aren't hitting home runs, it ends up amounting to a ton of guys left on base. I wouldn't mind seeing them try Vmart in the #2 spot, followed by Hunter and then Miggy. Oh and please please please in the off season let some team call the Tigers willing to give up prospects for Fielder. That contract is going to be an albatross around our collective necks for several years to come.

By the way, it does feel great to type the sentence "This gets exposed every year in the post season"

87 to 2006 was way too long to lead the world in suckitude.

It's years 7,8, & 9 of that contract that worry me the most. I love him but they are going to be grossly over-paying for a part-time, underwhelming DH at that point.

That's if they can get him to agree to be a DH.

Wow, Hunter hitting leadoff, I like it that they're trying something different and it doesn't involve benching Jackson in favor of Mr Out Don Kelly. I would have put Victor at #2 instead of Cabrera, but I like it.

It's donkelly by the way. I think we decided in spring training that its a commodity. You can pick up a donkelly anywhere, we don't necessarily need this donkelly, any donkelly will do.
