Typical Choke-Rod. Can't hit the go-ahead grand slam, eh? I'm sure he would have if the Yanks had been up by three.

Not taking any A-Rod bait today!

Besides, this from Newsday:
Quote:
Alex Rodriguez, who homered to tie the score at 5 in the ninth inning yesterday, has been spectacular in the ninth this season:
20 At-bats
11 Hits
7 Home runs
18 Runs batted in
5 Walks
.550 Batting average
.640 On-base percentage

None of this counts until September / October. Let's see him unclutch then.

Flicking through the gamedays this evening (whilst indulging in a bit of online-poker) I noticed that the Giants had stolen 5 bases off the Moose. It probably does happen quite often but I can't recall seeing 5 SB (especially in 5 innings)

Good eye for the gamedays, but you missed my post #1080 in which I expressed my ire in real time.

Something in my water says that we're about to have another one of these swing weeks again - much as I'd like a 100% week I think the gap may be back down to between 7.5 and 8.5 by the end of the week.

I couldn't find this on baseballreference or any other site, but on Wang's last start he recorded more strikeouts in his batting column than he did in his pitching column. Has any other pitcher gone six innings or more and been struck out more than has struck out others?

BTW, the angry face in my previous post was not meant for you. I was still steamed over Mussina's (and later, Farnsworth's) performance in that game.

I don't know what weed you're smoking, pal.

Take a look at last night's performance, for example. A hit and three walks, including the leadoff batter who's batting .224. Missed an obvious chance at a rally-killing double play, then walked in the winning run.

Hey, don't post here again until you know what you're talking about, OK?

When does the game end with a walk-off-walk? Did Hernandez need to reach first base or was it over the moment Patterson touched home? Is it possible to be called out on something whilst walking to first (I'm not sure what sort of bizarre interference you could cause)?

Dang, and we blew another chance to increase the gap...

I believe the runner has to reach 1st in order for the game to be over, but I am not sure. I don't think there is anyway to get "out" while receiving the walk, so it's quite possible that the game is over as soon as ball 4 is called.

In other news, it looks like the White Sox are heavily scouting the Yankees:

I definately would not want to see them deal any top flight rookies in order to save this year. I'd rather see them play in the FA market next year and suppliment with kiddies.

I don't think Kenny Williams will be happy until the Sox field a team consisting of 25 pitchers.

Rumors have it that the Yanks are looking at Konerko and Buerhle. If the Yanks want any of those guys they'll have to give up at least one major prospect. If I were the White Sox, I'd ask for a minimum of three.

The Sox don't have to explode their team. They just want to.

In my fantasy world, I'd like to get rid of all guys in the bullpen and get some guys in there who know how to keep a lead or atleast keep this team in a game without screwing it up. I'm getting frustrated.

The only thing more exciting than a walk off home run is the walk off walk.

That never stops Yankee fans from posting.

What about a walk-off-hit-by-pitch, or a walk-off-passed ball (don't think Wake's done one of those yet)

It's no secret that the Sox want at least 2 top prospects for Buehrle. Probably more than that if Buehrle re-signs and the Sox are still looking to trade him.

I don't see the Sox moving Konerko - that's just another case of "the Yankees can get any player they want to fill their holes because they're the Yankees," IMO.

Will you take Proctor and "Gamble" for him? How about if I throw in Villone, Vizcaino, Myers, and two ball girls? Plus cash? Lotsa cash?
