It's being reported that Terry wants a 10 year, 125,000 pound($325k Aussie) a week deal.

They agreed to it by all accounts but Chelsea have changed their minds and only want him to sign a 4 yr contract, by all accounts the stumbling block was the fact Terry wanted to have it written in that he will always be the highest wage earner at the club.

FA Cup draw.
Blackburn v Chelsea or Tottenham Watford v Middlesbrough or Manchester United Hopefully it will be a Spurs v Middlesbrough/Man Utd final which would make a better final to watch imo, a Chelsea v Man Utd would be a bigger story but not as an attractive game. |

Europe XI named for Man U match - AP
![]() ![]() ![]() //ord=Math.random();//ord=ord*10000000000000000000;document.write(''); Former Italy coach Marcello Lippi relied on the backbone of his World Cup team, and added Brazilians Ronaldinho and Ronaldo to his Europe XI squad for a charity match against Manchester United. The celebration match at Old Trafford on Tuesday marks United's 50 years in European competition and also the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, which created the European Union. Lippi also included FC Barcelona defender Carles Puyol, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard. "The history of Manchester United is tied up with that of Europe," former United great Bobby Charlton said. "Some of the club's greatest moments have been played out on a European stage." Henrik Larsson, who scored in his last match for United in last week's 1-0 Champions League victory over Lille, will line up on the Europe team against the players who were his teammates since the beginning of the year. Like Larsson, David Beckham was originally scheduled to play for the Europe XI against his former team but is sidelined with a knee injury. Italy teammates Marco Materazzi, Fabio Grosso, Gianluca Zambrotta, Gennaro Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo were also named in the team. Squad Goalkeepers: Oliver Kahn (Bayern Munich), Gregory Coupet (Lyon), Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Defenders: Paolo Maldini (AC Milan), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Eric Abidal (AS Roma), Lilian Thuram (FC Barcelona), Carles Puyol (FC Barcelona), Marco Materazzi (Inter Milan), Fabio Grosso (Inter Milan), Gianluca Zambrotta (FC Barcelona) Midfielders: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Juninho (Lyon), Florent Malouda (Lyon), Luis Miguel (Valencia), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan) Forwards: Ronaldinho (FC Barcelona), Ronaldo (AC Milan), Alessandro Mancini (AS Roma), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter Milan), Henrik Larsson (Helsingborgs) Pretty good squad, but too many damn Italians, lol. |

Considering they just won the WC and the gaffer is an Italian six isnt many at all. If I could get remotely interested in an exhibition game my beef would be four Brazilians in what should be a quintessentially European event.
How does a Wigan lad end up supporting the odious Saints? Typical stuff from Bromley this weekend; after winning a championship six pointer last week we went to relegation outsider Ashford Town(mx) on Saturday and promptly got gubbed. A 2-0 loss actually flattered us. Chelmsford hammerd another promotion chaser 5-0 and are now beginning to look like champions elect. Looks like the playoff crapshoot is our only hope of promotion. |

Most Latics fans who watched Wigan at Springfield Park hate the Warriors, Maurice Lindsay when he was involved with the Warriors turned round and said it would be better for Wigan if Wigan Athletic went out of business, this isn't the sole reason that Latics fans hate the Warriors it's just one of many reasons, he was given a position within the Latics to supposedly strengthen the bond between the football and rugby but it's done the opposite as at the moment there is a fans group (LISA - Latics Independent Supporters Association) that's aim is to get Lindsay out of the Latics. |

The whole games story is so much BS it is untrue, although it does prove Hitler was right with his assertion that the people will believe anything if you say it often and loudly enough. That our players play more than ever before has become a generally acknowledged fact when in reality the opposite is actually the case, and dramatically so in the vast majority of cases. In fact these days with the decline in reserve team football we often have problems with players being significantly undercooked rather than tired. Sure teams play a couple more games in Europe these days, but that is more than counter balanced by (deep breath) four games less in the league, only one leg in the league cup opening rounds, no replays at all in league cup, only one replay in the FA cup and no replay at all in the final stages, the lack of interest and introduction of reserve teams in both the cups which was against the rules, vastly bloated squads throughout the top flight which have doubled in size at even the smallest clubs, and the introduction of three subs from a five man bench rather than just a sole emergency twelfth man. Throw in the death of the old heavy pitches throughout the winter and the alleged vast scientific improvements to players fitness these days and the poor little dears should have no trouble playing a full season these days. When you consider how much less competitive domestic football is today then it would take an absolute imbecile to forward the argument, but somehow it has become an accepted fact. Anyway put aside all arguments about actual minutes played by individual players and whatnot. It is all moot anyway when you can simple quote the games played by clubs to see today we play less than twenty years ago when we were the dominant force. Code:
1984 1985 1986 1987
Liverpool 63 62 65 55
Man Utd 57 60 55 48
West Ham 51 51 52 53
2004 2005 2006 2007
Chelsea 59 59 53 60-65
Man Utd 54 60 56 57-62
Portsmouth 46 44 41 42

) first Wigan RL game was on Sunday 18th February 1981 at Halifax (both first RL game and first away game).I used to follow both of them, going to the football with my Dad (stepdad really) as none of my friends at the time followed football and going to the rugby with my friends although me and my best friend used to go watching the Latics and Wigan RL reserves together on boring midweek nights, on the bus for free and 50p to get in With being more of a football fan when the trouble started between the Latics and Wigan RL I chose the Latics, for me the final straw came when oneday Wigan Athletic played Carlisle United at home and Wigan RL were playing think it was Widnes at home the sameday most people in Wigan went to the rugby game and we looked as though we were away against Carlisle there were that few Latics fans there only the hardcore, all I can remember all game were the Carlisle fans singing "We thought you were supposed to be at home" (This made it more embarassing as my stepdad is a Carlisle United fan). So changed to following Wigan RL's major rival aka St Helens, most Latics fans who watched the Tics around that time either follow St Helens or Warrington. *Useless info 101 I used to babysit for Jimmy Fiddler ex Bradford Northern on a Thursday night to pay for my Wigan Athletic addiction. Guys like Pearce and Southgate should have had to get experience in lower leagues before taking jobs in the Premiership. Or is an inexperienced manager not so important in football?

It's the name, many managers do a good job in the lower leagues but are never given a chance in the top leagues because their face or name doesn't fit.

You could try Frank. http://proxymoron.org/llm/ How do you get the German names to show up, I've tried the patches that are available but they only change the player names and not the team names. Spain - Breaking the Barca/Madrid stranglehold maybe Athletic Bilbao Maybe take a team back to it's former glory, France - St Etienne (used to in Europe on a regular basis), England - Wolves (One of the top teams in the world in the 50's), Scotland - Hearts (played in Europe late 50's early 60's). |
