The fans of the White Stockings are much happier with the May performance of their team than they were with April. The team managed to pick up 18 wins from the 26 games played during the month. This has seen them rise up the NL table to 4th place. They now sit 11 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month by winning the final 2 games of the home series against the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. They followed this up with a 2-1 road trip win against the New York Gothams and a 3-0 sweep of the Philadelphia Quakers at home. They finished the excellent first half of the month with a 2-1 home series win against the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The second half of the month saw a dip in form to start as the team went 1-2 at home to the Boston Beaneaters followed by a 2-1 home series win against the Brooklyn Atlantics before again going 1-2 at home this time to the St Louis Browns. The form picked up to finish the month as they swept the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 3-0 on the road before beating the New York Gothams 2-1 at home.

The best performer during May was veteran Second Baseman Ezra Sutton. Sutton played in all 26 games during the month and picked up 54 hits from 120 at bats. He scored 36 runs with 24 RBI's for an excellent average of .450. This saw him awarded the NL Batter of the Month award for May.

The White stockings made a roster move that has the fans a little upset. They saw 27 year old First Baseman Martin Powell and 22 year old minor league Second Baseman Ed Merrill to the Louisville Eclipse in exchange for 25 year old Left Fielder Mike Mansell. The fans will miss Powell and are holding their council on Mansell until they see how he plays.

The team lost Pitcher Hugh Campbell to the Philadelphia Quakers via waivers.

The Chicago White Stockings had the following players selected to the NL All Star Squad. Pitchers Frank McIntyre and Charlie Witherow, First Baseman Harry Stovey, Second Baseman Ezra Sutton, Third Baseman Hick Carpenter and Short Stop Jack Glasscock.

Stovey and Sutton started for the NL in their 5-8 loss.

The fans of the Cincinnati Red Stockings are starting to show their anger as the team continues to throw away the NL pennnat they earned last year. The team managed to pick up only 8 wins during May while losing 18. This has seen the team slump to 7th place in the NL table a full 20 games behind the leaders. The fans are hoping the team can find a way out of this slump and begin to show last seasons form.

The month started by splitting the final 2 games of the road trip to the St Louis Browns 1-1. They then went 1-2 on the road to the Pittaburgh Alleghenys before being swept 0-3 at home by the New York Gothams. The poor form continued as they went 1-2 on the road to the Chicago White Stockings before a 1-2 series loss at home to the Philadelphia Quakers. The month hit rock bottom when they were swept 0-3 at home by the Boston Beaneaters before they then found some form. The team went 2-1 on the road to the Brooklyn Atlantics and 2-1 at home to the St Louis Browns. The form then disappeared again as they were swept 0-3 for the third time in the month, this time at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys.

There is very little in the teams play that shows any players in a good light other than from stand out Right Fielder Monte Ward. Ward started 22 of the 26 games he played and picked up 33 hits from 101 at bats. He scored 14 runs and 14 RBI's for an average of .327.

Fred Dunlap returned from injury late in the month

The team traded 20 year old Right Fielder Edgar Smith and 23 year old Right Fielder Hal McClure to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for pitcher Dick McBride

The Cincinnati Red Stockings had a good selection of players make the grade for the NL All Star Squad. They were Pitchers Ed Cushman and U Doolan and Right Fielder Monte Ward.

Ward started in the NL's 5-8 loss.

The fans of the Blues were hoping for better from their team in May but had to settle for a slightly above average month. The team managed to win 14 of the 26 games played as they drifted into 3rd place in the Al table 2 games behind the leaders. The fans will hope the team can push on next month and make a challenge on the pennant.

The month started as it was to go on by splitting the final 2 games of the home series against the Philadelphia Athletics 1-1. The team swept the Baltimore Orioles 3-0 at home before going 1-2 on the road to the Washington Nationals. The up and down form continued as they beat the Detroit Wolverines 2-1 at home before being swept 0-3 by the Boston Americans at home. The team responded in the following series by sweeping the Chicago White Sox 3-0 on the road before again dipping in form as they went 1-2 at home to the Louisville Eclipse. The month ended in patchy form with a 1-2 home series loss to the Philadelphia Athletics and a 2-1 road trip win against the Baltimore Orioles.

Roger Connor again showed why he is the star of the Blues line-up. He picked up 39 hits from 111 at bats in 25 game starts. This led to him scoring 18 runs and 12 RBI's for an average of .351.

The Blues players that made the cut for the Al All Star Squad were Catcher Charlie Bennett and Centre Fielder Roger Connor.

Bennett and Connor both started for the AL in their 8-5 win.

The fans of the Detroit Wolverines saw a two different sides of the team during the month on the way to an average season. The team picked up a record of 13-13 for May. This has seen them drift down the AL table to 7th place. This leaves them 10 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month in poor form as they lost the final two games of the road trip to the Baltimore Orioles. This was followed up by a 1-2 home series loss to the Washington Nationals before going down 1-2 at home to the Boston Beaneaters. The next series saw the team again go down 1-2 on the road to the Cleveland Blues. The form finally picked up after this as they went 2-1 at home to the Chicago White Sox. They then went 1-2 on the road to the Louisville Eclipse before sweeping the Philadelphia Athletics 3-0 on the road. The foinal 2 series of the month saw the team go 2-1 at home to the Baltimore Orioles before winning 2-1 at the Washington Nationals.

The player to produce the best play over the past month was Pitcher Doc Landis. Landis pitched 115.1 innings in 13 game starts for 8 wins. He gave up 101 hits and 26 earned runs for an ERA of 2.03.

The team suffered a nasty blow to the batting line up mid month when they saw Right Fielder Jim Keenan sidelined for the rest of the season. He has been diagnosed with a Torn Abdominal Muscle that will see him miss 3 months of baseball.

The team also lost John Reccius for between 3 and 4 weeks with an oblique strain.

This has been offset slightly with the return pf Right Fielder Clipper Flynn from injury.

The team traded 24 year old pitcher Laurie Reis to the Washington Nationals in exchange for 22 year old minor league Catcher Abe Wolstenholme and 23 year old minor league Catcher Charlie Ingraham.

The Wolverines managed to get some representation in the AL All Star Squad. They were pitchers Frank Pearce, Laurie Reis and George Snyder.

No Wolverines started in the AL's 8-5 win.

The fans of the Eclipse saw a below average month from their team which is not what they wanted to see. The team picked up 12 wins from the 26 games played. This has led to them moving into 4th place in the AL table 4 games behind the leaders.

They started the month in poor form as they lost the final 2 games of the Chicago White Sox road trip. They were then swept 0-3 on the road to the Boston Beaneaters before going 1-2 against the Philadelphia Athletics. The poor form continued with a 1-2 road trip loss to the Baltimore Orioles before their form changed markedly as they swept the Washington Nationals at home 3-0. This better form continued with a 2-1 home series win against the Detroit Wolverines and a 2-1 road trip win against the Cleveland Blues. The form dipped a little for a 1-2 home series loss against the Chicago White Sox before finishing the month 2-1 at home to the Boston Beaneaters.

The star of the show all month was Centre Fielder George Gore. Gore started 25 games and picked up 37 hits from 104 at bats. This led to an average of .356 along with him scoring 20 runs and 13 RBI's. The AL voters decided this was good enough to award him the AL Batter of the Month.

The Eclipse pulled off a strong coup in the trade market this month by trading 25 year old Left Fielder Mike Mansell to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for the 27 year old First Baseman Martin Powell and 22 year old minor league Second Baseman Ed Merrill. The fans a really looking forward to watching Poweel in an Eclipse jersey and hope he can help the team progress towards a pennant.

The team also traded 21 year old minor league Catcher John Humphries to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for 29 year old Pitcher Joe Blong.

The Louisville Eclipse players were well represented in the AL All Star Squad. These were Pitchers Larry Corcoran and Jim Tyng, Catcher Buck Ewing, First Baseman Martin Powell, Centre Fielder George Gore and Right Fielder Tom Brown.

The players to make the start in the AL's 8-5 win were Ewing and Gore.

The fans of the Gothams saw their team have a steady month during May. The team managed to pick up 14 wins from the 26 games played. This has left them in 3rd place in the NL table 10 games behind the leaders.. The fans will hope the team can maintain this form going forward.

The month was started with the Gothams splitting the final 2 games of a home series against the Philadelphia Quakers 1-1. They next series bought a 1-2 loss against the Chicago White Stockings at home. This was followed by a 3-0 sweep of the Cincinnati Red Stockings on the road and a 2-1 win over the Boston Beaneaters at home. The form of the team then took a dip as they went 1-2 at home to the Brooklyn Atlantics and 1-2 on the road to the St Louis Browns. The form then managed to pick up again as they went 2-1 at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys and 2-1 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers. The final series of the month saw the team lose 1-2 on the road to the Chicago White Stockings.

Left Fielder Jim Clinton was the player in the best form over May. He played 25 games and managed to hit 34 times in 102 at bats. He scored 19 runs and 11 RBI's for an average of .333

The Gothams were boosted by the return of both Centre Fielder Bob Blakiston and Right Fielder George Fields from injury early in the month. While Whitey Ritterson returned from injury late in the month.

The team lost Short Stop Frank Abercrombie and Second Baseman Ben Laughlin via waivers to the Chicago White Sox and Boston Americans respectivly.

They did claim Right Fielder John Farrow from the Philadelphia Quakers via waivers.

The Gothams players to make it into the NL All Star Squad were Pitcher Joe McDermott and Left Fielder Jim Clinton.

Neither player started in the NL's 5-8 loss.

After the quick start the team had in April they came back to normality in May to frustrate their fans. The team picked up only 11 wins during the month while losing 15. This has seen the team pegged back to be in joint 1st place in the AL table.

The team started by splitting the final 2 games of the road trip to the Cleveland Blues 1-1. They then won the next 2 series 2-1 on the road to the Chicago White Sox and at home to the Louisville Eclipse. The teams form then collapsed as they went 1-2 on the road to the Boston Americans and 1-2 at home to the Baltimore Orioles before being swept 0-3 on the road to the Washington Nationals. They were then again swept 0-3 by the Detroit Wolverines at home. The form finally picked up for the final 2 series as they went 2-1 on the road to the Cleveland Blues and 2-1 on the road to the Chicago White Sox.

The player who kept their form the best during the month was Right Fielder Chicken Wolf. Wolf managed to pick up 34 hits from 112 at bats in 24 games. This led to him scoring 15 runs and 12 RBI's for an average of .304.

The Athletics squad managed to provide only 2 AL All Stars this year. They were Centre Fielder Paul Hines and Right Fielder Chicken Wolf.

Both Hines and Wolf started for the AL in their 8-5 win.

The Quakers have continued their poor season as they have again frustrated their fans. The team picked up only 9 wins during the month as they saw 17 losses given away. This has seen them rooted to the bottom of the NL table 21 games behind the leaders.

The poor form started right from the beginning of the month as they split the final 2 games of the road trip to the New York Gothams 1-1 before being swept 0-3 in the next 3 series. Those series were at home to the Brooklyn Atlantics, on the road to the Chicago White Stockings and at home to the St Louis Browns. The form then saw some improvement as they went 2-1 on the road to the Cincinnati Red Stockings and 2-1 at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. The form trailed off again as they went 1-2 on the road to the Boston Beaneaters and 1-2 at home to the New York Gothams. They finished the month with a 2-1 road trip win at the Brooklyn Atlantics.

The only player to really show any form during the month was First Baseman Ed Swartwood. Swartwood picked up 34 hits from 99 at bats during his 26 starts. This gave him 11 runs and 19 RBI''s for an average of .343

Short Stop Monk Cline will miss 3 weeks of the season after picking up an inflammed elbow.

The team claimed Pitcher Hugh Campbell from the Chicago White Stockings.

This then meant they could trade 35 year old First Baseman to the Washington Nationals getting 22 year old Centre Fielder Edgar Smith in return. They also traded 27 year old Pitcher George Radbourn to the Washington Nationals in exchange for 22 year old minor league Third Baseman Charlie Kelly.

The team lost Catcher Jim Farrow to the New York Gothams on waivers.

The players selected for the NL All Star Squad from the Quakers were Second Baseman Gene Kimball and Left Fielder Bill Kelly.

The mixed start to the season for the Alleghenys became a complete down turn in form during May to leave the fans worried how the season was going to go. The team picked up only 9 wins from the 26 games played in May. This has seen the team drift down to 6th place in the NL table. This leaves them 19 games behind the leaders.

The month started poorly as they lost the final 2 games of the road trip to the Chicago White Stockings. This was followed with a 2-1 home series win against the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The next 2 series saw the Alleghenys swept 0-3 by both the Boston Beaneaters at home and the Brooklyn Atlantics on the road. They then beat the St Louis Browns 2-1 at home before going 1-2 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers. They went 1-2 on the road to the New York Gothams. They finished the month up and down by being swept 0-3 by the Chicago White Stockings before sweeping the Cincinnati Red Stockings 3-0.

After a poor team performance all month their were very few stars. The only one that can be mentioned is Left Fielder Cliff Carroll. Carroll started 24 games and managed to collect 33 hits from 102 at bats. He scored 11 runs and 12 RBI's for an average of .324

The team lost First Baseman Frank Heifer to the Boston Beaneaters via waivers.

The only Allegheny to make the NL All Star Squad was Catcher Charlie Reipschlager.

He did not get the start for the NL in their 5-8 loss

The fans saw a far more settled line up in May as the team started to gel but this didn't quite turn into the anticipated move forward. The team picked up 13 wins from the 26 games played. They now sit 5th in the NL table, 14 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month by splitting the final 2 games of the home series against the Cincinnati Red Stockings 1-1. They then slowly started to find their form for the month as they went 1-2 on the road to the Boston Beaneaters followed by a 2-1 home series win against the Brooklyn Atlantics. They finally got going fully with a 3-0 road trip sweep of the Philadelphia Athletics before dropping away again as they went 1-2 on the road to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. The next 2 series were 2-1 wins over the New York Gothams at home and over the Chicago White Stockings on the road. They finished the month in poor form as they went 1-2 on the road to the Cincinnati Red Stockings before being swept 0-3 at home to the Boston Beaneaters.

Catcher Phil baker had an excellent month in his young career. He managed to pick up 40 hits from 102 at bats in 23 game starts. He scored 19 runs and had 8 RBI's for an average of .392. This was good enough for the NL voters to give him the Rookie of the Month award for May.

The team lost 2 batters to injury during the month. Second Baseman Jumbo Latham picked up a torn hamstring that will keep him out for between 5 and 6 weeks while Third Baseman Art Whitney picked up an oblique strain that will keep him out for between 3 and 4 weeks.

The team sent the following players to the All Star game as part of the NL Squad. Pitchers Charlie Bohn, John Greason and Ed Stratton, Catcher Phil Baker and First Baseman Pete Browning

Browning and Baker both made the start for the NL in their 5-8 loss.

The average play of the Washington Nationals continued into May as the fans tried to adjust to the squad changes. The team picked up 13 wins during the month while giving away 13 losses. This has seen them continue to sit mid table in the AL at position 5, 5 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month in good form as they went 1-1 to finish the home series against the Boston Americans before picking up a 2-1 win against the Detroit Wolverines on the road. This was followed up by a 2-1 home series win against the Cleveland Blues before sweeping the Chicago White Sox on the road 3-0. The team then saw their form dip alarmingly as they were swept 0-3 by the Louisville Eclipse on the road. The form then came back with a 3-0 sweep of the Philadelphia Athletics before it went completely for the rest of the month as they went 1-2 on the road to the Baltimore Orioles. They followed this by being swept 0-3 by the Boston Americans on the road before finishing the month with a 1-2 home series loss to the Detroit Wolverines.

The team was led by the pitching again as the best player was Charlie Sweeney. Sweeney pitched 13 games with 112. innings thrown. He won 9 games and gave up 90 hits and 22 earned runs for and ERA of 1.77.

The Washington Nationals have had a major overhaul of their squad during May as they traded quite a few players.

They started by upsetting the fans with the trade of 28 year old First Baseman John Abadie to the Boston Americans in exchange for 30 year old Short Stop U Quinn and 23 year old minor league Catcher Charlie Ingraham.

They then claimed Third Baseman Billy West from the Chicago White Sox.

The next move was to trade 22 year old Centre Fielder Edgar Smith to the Philadelphia Quakers in exchange for 35 year old First Baseman Jim Foran.

22 year old Minor League Catcher Abe Wolstenholme and 23 year old minor league Catcher Charlie Ingraham were traded to the Detroit Wolverines in exchange for 24 year old pitcher Laurie Reis.

They finished the squad changes by trading 22 year old minor league Third Baseman Charlie Kelly to the Philadelphia Quakers in exchange for 27 year old Pitcher George Radbourn.

The Washington Nationals managed to provide 3 pitchers for the AL All Star squad. They were Charlie Sweeney, U Edwards and Dale Williams.

None of them got the start for the AL in their 8-5 win.

The fans of the Orioles are still hoping for a run at the pennant after a strong month from their team. The team picked up 20 wins from the 28 games played in June. This has left them in 3rd position in the AL table 5 games behind the leaders. With 20 games left in the season the fans hope they can still retain their title.

June started with the Orioles in steady form as they went 2-1 at home to the Chicago White Sox followed by a 1-2 series loss on the road to the Louisville Eclipse. The team then went on a strong run as they beat the Philadelphia Athletics 2-1 at home followed by a 3-0 sweep of the Boston Americans at home. They followed this up with a 2-1 road trip win against the Washington Nationals and a 3-0 sweep of the Detroit Wolverines at home. The end of the month was again steady as they lost a series 1-2 on the road to the Cleveland Blues. They then went and swept the Chicago White Sox 3-0 on the road before going 2-1 against the Louisville Eclipse at home. They finished the month by winning the first game of a road trip to the Philadelphia Athletics.

The star of the show during these games was First Baseman Dan Brouthers. Brouthers picked up 49 hits from 119 at bats in 28 starts for an average of .412. He also scored 27 runs and 25 RBI's during the month. This was enough to see him awarded the AL Batter of the Month award.

The team traded 25 year old Catcher Emil Gross to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 32 year old Left Fielder Tom York and 23 year old Third Baseman Harry Jacoby. The team may have mortgaged their future by letting Gross go but the fans are looking forward to seeing how much they can get out of star left fielder York before he retires.

After 2 strong months for the fans of the Americans to see them top, June bought them back to reality as the team posted only average figures. The Americans picked up 14 wins and 14 losses during the month which has seen them slip back to 2nd place in the AL table. They now sit 4 games behind the leaders. The fans will hope for a pick up in form for the remaining 20 games to have a go at the pennant.

The month started well for the Americans as they beat the Detroit Wolverines 2-1 at home before sweeping the Philadelphia Athletics 3-0 on the road. The form then completely collapsed as they were swept 0-3 by both the Cleveland Blues at home and the Baltimore Orioles on the road. The poor form continued during the middle of the month as they went 1-2 at home to the Chicago White Stockings and 1-2 on the road to the Washington Nationals. The team managed to pick the form up towards the end of the month as they swept the Louisville Eclipse 3-0 at home and then went 2-1 on the road to the Detroit Wolverines. The team finished the month with a 2-1 home series win against the Philadelphia Athletics before losing the opening game of a road trip to the Cleveland Blues.

The only real star during the month was Right Fielder Walter Prince. Prince managed to pick up 22 hits from 64 at bats in 21 games played for an average of .344. He scored 12 runs and 9 RBI's during the month.

The team suffered a big blow to their hopes mid month when Pitcher Hardy Henderson was ruled out for 2 months with a Herniated Disc in his back

Third Baseman Bill White has had to put his season on hold early in the month as he was diagnosed with a fractured wrist and will be sidelined for 5 weeks.

The team made some trades during the month to try and help them claim the pennant.

They sent 24 year old Third Baseman Denny Sullivan to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 31 year old Pitcher Charles Witherow.

They also sent 24 year old Second Baseman Bob Casey and 24 year old Left Fielder Steve Dignan to the Detroit Wolverines and gained 28 year old Pitcher Doc Landis in return.

The team claimed George Trenwith from the Washington Nationals via waivers but lost Pitcher Flip Lafferty to the Chicago White Sox via the same route.

The fans of the Beaneaters are still all smiles as their team continues its strong push towardds the NL pennant. The team managed another outstanding month in June as the picked up 23 wins from the 28 games played. They now sit 11 games clear at the top of the NL table and only need to win 10 of the remaining 20 games to take the pennant.

The month started with the team in top form as they swept the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 3-0 at home before beating the New York Gothams 2-1 at home. The next 3 series showed how well the team has been playing all year as they swept all 3 opponents 3-0. The opponents were the Chicago White Stockings on the road, the Cincinnati Red Stockings at home and the Philadelphia Quakers on the road. The next 4 series saw the teams form dip slightly as they only won them 2-1. These were against the Brooklyn Atlantics on the road, the St Louis Brown Stockings at home, the Pittsburgh Alleghenys on the road and the New York Gothams on the road. They finished the month by winning the first game of a home series against the Chicago White Stockings.

The best player during another excellent month by the team was Pitcher Old Hoss Radbourn. Radbourn started 14 games and pitched 120.2 innings on his way to 12 wins. He gave up 114 hits and 21 earned runs for an ERA of 1.57. these figures were enough to see him voted the NL Pitcher of the Month

Charley Jones returned from injury late in the month

There were big movements in the squad during the month as they tried to complete the squad for the push towards the pennant.

Firstly they traded 4 minor league players to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 35 year old Catcher Deacon White joining the team. The fans will hope this can be a final part of their championship win.

The team also traded for 2 Pitchers. Firstly by sending Minor League Short Stop Jim Halpin to the Chicago White Stockings in exchange for 34 year old pitcher Candy Cummings

They then sent veteran 33 year old Right Fielder back to the Cincinnati Red Stockings in exchange for 31 year old pitcher Fred Goldsmith.

The team lost pitcher Joe Borden via waivers to the Philadelphia Quakers. They did claim Second Baseman Harry Little from the New York Gothams.

The fans of the Atlantics are still in hope of a push for the NL pennant but are starting to see it slip away. The team picked up 21 wins and 7 losses during June to see them stay in second place in the NL table, 11 games behind. There are 20 games left in the season and they will need to win as many as they can and hope for a fall in form from the Beaneaters to have a chance of the pennant.

The team started the month badly as they went 1-2 at home to the St Louis Browns before picking the form up with a 2-1 road trip win against the Pittsburgh Alleghenys and a 2-1 home series win against the New York Gothams. The form continued to improve as the next 2 series were sweeps of their opponents as they won 3-0. The opponents were the Chicago White Stockings at home and the Cincinnati Red Stockings on the road. The form then dipped as they went 1-2 at home to the Boston Beaneaters and 2-1 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers. The end of the month saw another return to form as they swept both the St Louis Browns on the road and the Pittsburgh Alleghenys at home 3-0. They finished the month with a win on the road to the New York Gothams to start that series.

The pitching was the big reason for the strong performance this month. Both starters picked up 10 wins from their 14 starts but the best of them was Jim Whitney. Whitney pitched 131.1 innings in his 14 games to give up 96 hits and 20 earned runs for an ERA of 1.37

The fans of the White Sox cannot wish for the season to end soon enough as their team continues to struggle. The month of June didn't see any improvement as they managed to win only 9 games from the 28 played. This sees them rooted to the AL table a full 21 games behind the leaders and out of the pennant race with only 20 games left to play.

The month started with a poor run as they went 1-2 on the road to both the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals before going 1-2 at home to the Detroit Wolverines. The form picked up a little as they went 2-1 on the road to both the Cleveland Blues and the Boston Americans before it failed completely. The team were swept 0-3 by three teams. This was at home to the Louisville Eclipse, on the road to the Philadelphia Athletics and at home to the Baltimore Orioles. They finished the month with a 1-2 home series loss against Washington Nationals followed by a loss in the first game of the road trip to the Detroit Wolverines.

Very few players covered themselves with glory during the month of June so we have decided that we will not be highlighting any performances this month.

The White Sox suffered a blow during the month as they lost 2 players to injury. Ed Dundon went down with rotator cuff inflammation which put him out for the rest of the season as he will be out for 2 months. They also lost Second Baseman Jimmy Hallinan late in the month as he was diagnosed with Concussion that will see his season finished. He will be sidelined for 2 months.

The team lost Right Fielder George Ewell to the Detroit Wolverines via waivers but managed to boost the pitching with both Flip Lafferty and Rynie Wolters coming in on waivers.

The fans of the White Stockings are starting to become frustrated with the way their team is no longer in the pennant race for the second year running. The team only managed to pick up 8 wins with 20 losses during June. This has seen them slip further down the NL table into 5th place 26 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month in average form as they went 2-1 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers before going 1-2 on the road to the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The form then disappeared as they were swept 0-3 by the Boston Beaneaters at home, the Brooklyn Atlantics on the road and the St Louis Browns on the road. The form didn't pickup much after that but not by much. They went 2-1 at home to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys before going 1-2 on the road to the New York Gothams. They finished the month by going 1-2 against the Philadelphia Quakers at home and 1-2 against the Cincinnati Red Stockings at home. The final game of the month was a loss on the road to the Boston Beaneaters.

There is only 1 star that we can talk about again this month. First Baseman Harry Stovey continues to carry the batting to new heights as he works non stop every game. June saw him pick up 50 hits from 118 at bats in 28 games for an average of .424. He scored 24 runs and 26 RBI's during the month. This performance was good enough to earn him the NL batter of the Month award again.

After slipping out of contention for the NL pennant the second season on the trot the White Stockings decided to make an overhaul of the whole squad.

The first change was to trade veteran 35 year old Catcher Deacon White to the Boston Beaneaters for 4 minor league players.

They then traded 32 year old Left Fielder Tom York and 23 year old Third Baseman Harry Jacoby to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for 25 year old Catcher Emil Gross.

The third trade of the month saw the team move Pitcher Candy Cummings to the Boston Beaneaters in exchange for 19 year old Short Stop Jim Halpin

The final trade saw Pitcher Charles Witherow go to the Boston Americans in exchange for 24 year old Third Baseman Denny Sullivan.

The fans of the Red Stockings have written off their defence of the NL pennant and are now just looking towards the off season and next year after another bad month in June. The team picked up only 10 wins from the 28 games played as the team slipped down to 7th place in the NL table. The team now sit a massive 33 games behind the leaders.

The team started the month in form that was completely different to the rest of the season as they swept the New York Gothams 3-0 on the road. They followed up with a 2-1 home series win against the Chicago White Stockings before the form disappeared again. They went 1-2 on the road to the Philadelphia Quakers before being swept 0-3 by both the Boston Beaneaters on the road and the Brooklyn Atlantics at home. They managed to pick up 1 win in a 1-2 defeat on the road to the St Louis Browns before again being swept 0-3 by the Pittsburgh Alleghenys on the road. They were swept 0-3 by the New York Gothams at home before beating the Chicago White Stockings 2-1 on the road. They finished the month by winning the first game of a home series against the Philadelphia Quakers.

Even though he has had an injury hit season, Second Baseman Fred Dunlap continues to perform well with the bat. June saw him pick up 44 hits from 112 at bats in 26 games played. This earned him an average of .417 along with 14 runs and 13 RBI's scored.

Jack Farrell returned from injury at the end of the month while they lost Catcher Barney Gilligan for four weeks with a high ankle strain. Second Baseman Fred Dunlap has also been injured but it is yet to be diagnosed.

The team made some changes to the squad during the month to try and rebuild for the next season.

They lost pitchers Al Pratt and U MCDoolan to the Philadelphia Quakers via waivers.

They also traded 18 year old minor league Catcher Dave Oldfield and 22 year old minor league First Baseman Bill White to the Philadelphia Quakers in exchange for 30 year old pitcher Dory Dean.

The team traded 31 year old pitcher Fred Goldsmith to the Boston Beaneaters in exchange for Right Fielder Gat Stires. The fans will hope they can get a couple of good years from Stires before he retires.

The fans of the Cleveland Blues were in a buoyant mood during June as they saw their team start to push for the AL pennant. The team picked up 20 wins from the 28 games played. This meant that they moved into 1st place in the AL table with a 4 game lead. With 20 games left the team will need to continue to push to take the title.

The month started with a 3-0 sweep of the Washington Nationals which was followed up with a 2-1 road trip win against the Detroit Wolverines. The next series saw them take another sweep 3-0 againstthe Boston Americans before they slipped a little with a 1-2 loss at home to the Chicago White Sox. They managed to pick the form up again as they beat the Louisville Eclipse 2-1 on the road before another 3-0 sweep, this time against the Philadelphia Athletics at home. The team went 2-1 at home to the Baltimore Orioles before slipping up 1-2 on the road to the Washington Nationals. The finish of the month saw a 2-1 home series win against the Detroit Wolverines followed by a win in the first game of a home series against the Boston Americans.

It is always nice to see a rookie suddenly see it all click into place. That is exactly what happened for Pitcher Hugh Daily in June as he won 10 games from the 14 he started while pitching 121.1 innings. He gave up 107 hits and 23 earned runs for an ERA of 1.71. This performance earned him both the AL Pitcher of the Month Award and also the AL Rookie of the Month award.

The team lost Short Stop Jack Leary for 6 weeks with a strained medial collateral ligament and Short Stop Mike Burke for 6 weeks with a fractured wrist.
