McCoy defends title
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 3, 1910 Charles McCoy (CH) (26-8-3) scored a KO4 over Eddie McGoorty (4/5) (16-3) to defend his WBC Middleweight title for the 2nd time. (mcgoorty at pre) McGoorty came out strong dropping the champ in the first round. McCoy's right eye started to swell in the first also. McCoy recovered and took control of the fight winning the second round. The third was pretty even and so was the 4th until McCoy landed a brutal uppercut to finish the challenger. I had it 29-28 McGoorty at the stoppage On the undercard WW - Peter Jackson (1/1) (24-4) TKO1 Billy Nalley (UR/19) (7-7-1) (nalley at pre) FW - Jack Skelly (UR) (11-2-1) MD10 Abe Willis (51/54) (10-6-2) (both at pre) HW - Jack Root (37/29) (32-9-2) UD10 Charles Hadley (67/71) (17-17-3) 100-93 (hadley at post) LW - Danny Duane (15/12) (13-10-3) UD10 Arthur Cote (31/38) (10-6-1) (cote at pre) HW - Mike Brennan (club) (15-19) KO5 Henry Higgins (club) (11-24) (brennan at post, higgins at end for this club fight) |

Klaus retains title
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 15, 1910 WBA Middleweight champ Frank Klaus (17-6-1) scored a KO8 over Stanley Ketchel (3/4) (25-6) for his second defense of the title. The opening five rounds were pretty even. In the 6th round Ketchel started to take control of the fight. He won the 6th and the 7th in lopsided fashion. Klaus's right eye started to swell in the 7th. In the 8th Klaus hurt Ketchel early and Ketchel never recovered finally slumping to the canvas under a barrage of punches. I had it 68-66 Ketchel at the stoppage. On the undercard WW - Jimmy Clabby (24/22) (8-6-6) UD10 leach Cross (25/30) (10-10-1) 98-93 (cross stepped up to WW for this weight adjusted bout) FW - Billy Finnucane (36/31) (10-11-3) KO1 Young Byrnes (29/41) (8-9-1) HW - William Hague (UR) (12-2) KO7 Mike Conley (UR/30) (11-4) (both at pre) HW - Charlie Richardson (UR) (9-0-2) SD8 Joe Lannon (club) (17-21) 76-76 (richardson at pre, lannon at post for this club fight) LH - Dan Dwyer (club) (16-17-1) UD10 Charles Cooley (club) (7-12-2) (dwyer at post for this club fight) |

New Unified LW champ
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 17, 1910 Frank Erne (9/CH) (18-5-2) scored a KO7 to win both the WBA and WBC Lightweight belts over Jack McAuliffe (CH/2) (33-6-2). Erne started strong winning the first round. McAuliffe seemed to take control in the second landing at will, and swelling up Erne's left eye. Erne dropped McAuliffe in the 3rd. The champ got up quick and didn't seem too hurt by the KD. Jack then won the next two rounds. Erne won the 6th but had a point taken away for a low blow. That low blow seemed to sap the legs of McAuliffe as he went down for good in the 7th. I had it 56-56 at the stoppage. On the undercard FW - Jack Downey (20/21) (12-6) KO2 Tommy Kelly (30/32) (Kelly at post, Kelly stepped up to FW in this weight adjusted fight, Downey dropped in the rankings due to several debuts in the rankings at FW) HW - Hank Griffin (35/34) (18-8-2) TKO6 Bill Farnam (60/69) (15-17-1) WW - Arthur Evernden (UR) (12-2) KO8 Cy Flynn (32/34) (9-8) (both at pre) LW - Jack Hanley (UR) (9-1) UD8 George Wilson (UR) (6-4) (both at pre for this club fight) HW - Heriberto Rojas (club) (8-12-2) KO10 Jack Palmer (club) (16-19) (palmer at end for this club fight) |

March 20, 1910 LW - Jack Blackburn (5/3) (25-11-4) SD10 Freddie Welsh (6/6) (15-4-1) 95-94 blackburn due to a foul by welsh (IBF eliminator) BW - Harry Tenney (17/13) (14-6-2) UD10 Johnny Ritchie (UR) (9-2-2) (ritchie at pre) MW - Paddy Levin (11/10) (11-2-3) SD10 Joe Thomas (24/29) (13-5-3) 95-95 (levin at pre) LW - Young Erne (44/37) (12-6) UD10 Tom Dunn (UR) (8-4) (both at pre) LW - Jewey Smith (UR) (7-1-2) DRAW8 Ole Oleson (club) (10-12-3) (smith at pre, oleson stepped up to LW for this club fight) HW - Peter Felix (club) (14-16-2) DQ8 Jack Stelzner (club) (18-23-4) (both at post for this club fight) *** tried something different this card, I checked their rankings before the fight for their pre-fight rankings. I was doing it when they were scheduled, but alot of changes happen before these late cards so I will do it this way from now on |

Delmont beats Dixon again
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 22, 1910 For the second time in their careers Al Delmont (2/CH) (19-8-2) cut George Dixon (CH/1) (29-8-1) badly enough for the fight to be stopped. This time Delmont wins on a TKO14 to take the WBA Bantamweight title. Dixon controlled this fight from the opening bell, winning the first 4 rounds easily. He was cut badly over the left eye in the 3rd and that would prove to be the determining factor in the fight. It was reopened in the 6th. Again in the 8th with the ring doctor taking a look at it. Again in the 12th, with the doctor once again letting the fight continue. Then finally opened for the last time in the 14th. I had Dixon ahead 125-121. Ringside expert, Max Davis had it 127-122. Under LBA rules, Dixon is also stripped of the WBC belt. Charles Goldman (14-1-1) will face Johnny Coulon (21-3-2) for the vacant title next month. On the undercard LH - Georges Carpentier (UR) (11-1) UD10 Charley Johnson (42/42) (8-11-2) (carpentier at pre, Johnson stepped up to LHW) WW - Terry Martin (5/5) (17-2-1) MD10 Buddy Ryan (11/13) (12-14) 98-92 (somehow one judge saw it even, other judges 98-92/99-91) FW - Eddie Lenny (47/33) (10-7-4) TKO8 Benny Soloman (25/34) (13-4-2) FW - Black Griffo (club) (5-16-2) DRAW8 Buck Leary (UR) (5-7-2) (griffo at post, Cleary at pre for this club fight) WW - Scaldy Bill Quinn (club) (8-12-2) UD8 Paddy Sullivan (UR) (7-1-2) 77-74 (sullivan at pre for this club fight) Last edited by mh2365; 01-30-2006 at 10:30 AM. |

Same result different winner
I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 24, 1910 In August on 1909 George Cole (CH/2) (11-8-4) defeated Joe Gans (CH) (30-4-3) by a MD15. This time the result was the same but Gans came out on top to unify the WW titles. Cole won the early rounds and the Gans took over during the middle of the fight, winning the 8th, 9th and 10th. The 11th, 12th and 13th rounds were all really close, but the Gans took the last two rounds which sealed the victory. Cole had a little swelling around his left eye but no other cuts or knockdowns happened in the fight. I had it 144-143 Gans. Shane Macleod, ringside, had it 145-143. the official judges had it 144-142/142-142/144-142. On the undercard LW - Sam Bolen (27/24) (12-12-1) TKO3 Ad Wolgast (32/39) (12-9) MW - Rube Ferns (16/17) (25-13-1) DRAW10 Jack Moffat (35/35) (11-11-1) FW - Jim Keeley (UR/20) (6-7-2) UD10 Billy Ross (32/43) (7-10) (both at pre) BW - Casper Leon (club) (14-17-5) UD8 Steve Flanagan (UR) (9-1) 78-72 (leon at post, flanagan at pre for this club fight) LW - Rudy Unholz (UR) (7-2) UD8 George Munroe (club) (8-11) (both at pre for this club fight) |

He wasn't scheduled this month .... he has sat out two months in a row now. Next month he has a 60% chance of fighting and if that fails he'll automatically fight in May. Currently pre-prime and 11-1, 3 more fights to be ranked, which will probably happen by the EOY.

I am going to list the before and after rankings now on the fight cards listed as (before/after) all rankings will be the WBA rankings unless it's a title fight for another organization. Also I will list my scorecard on the fights I watch in bold.
March 27, 1910 LW - Harry Lyons (8/5) (30-14-1) TKO10 Eddie Hanlon (5/6) (12-5-1) 87-85 Lyons at stoppage (IBF eliminator, Lyons is the first lower seed to win in any of my tourneys) BW - Monte Attell (8/7) (15-5-1) UD10 Joe McGrath (UR) (10-2-2) 97-92 (mcgrath at pre and he stepped up to BW for this fight) HW - Jimmy Elliot (71/61) (25-7-3) UD10 Charley Wilson (50/63) (9-9-3) (elliot has some work to do as the new ranking system hurt him because he had plummeted in the rankings due to losing 3 out of 5 so his pp when converted were quite low (-235) but as long as he keeps fighting higher ranked fighters he'll climb back up there) HW - Denver Ed Martin (51/31) (20-15) TKO4 Billy Smith (16/39) (22-14-1) (notice that there is a little variety built into the rankings .... with this upset Martin went from -67 to 119 in pp and Smith dropped almost 200 points to 118. They are only 1 pp apart yet they are 8 spots apart in the rankings.) LH - Frank Fields (UR/19) (10-4-1) UD10 Henri Placke (23/24) (6-9-2) (both at pre, Fields stepped up to LH for this fight) FW - Billy Murphy (club) (15-22) UD10 Joe Cain (club) (2-15-2) (murphy at post for this club fight) |
