Yeah, Gonzalez has his slot, even with the Indians having signed Fred Holdsworth on the cheap. (After a bad year in Baltimore; Fred should have leveraged that 16-8 in Milwaukee in 1980 into a long-term deal.) We'll see what he does with it.
Actually, Cleveland is over .500 so far. So what do I know? Well, something I guess, since the Rangers have charged out of the gate. We swept the Yankees home-and-home (not that it makes up for the playoffs, though…) with a win at Cleveland in between (the other Cleveland game got rained out). And when they weren't being swept by us, the Yanks were being swept by the White Sox, so we were 6-0 while they were 0-8. Heh-heh-heh. Of course, it's early, but still. It's just a pity the game can't code "Steinbrenner" properly, or "Dick Howser" would be fired by now. Well, actually, Steinbrenner might have fired Dick before this, back-to-back World Series wins and 112-50 record and all, notwithstanding. Meanwhile, in addition to sweeping the Yanks, the ChiSox are hot on our tail. Helping out in their bullpen is Ramon "Ray" Murillo. An 11th-round draft pick out of Arizona State, Ramon did well at AA Knoxville, then adequate at AAA Iowa. But when the Sox shifted their top farm to Edmonton in 1982, Murillo lost it. Perhaps a native Arizonan just couldn't handle Canada? And who snapped our unbeaten string, in Milwaukee? Well, partly Sarge Matthews, looking to rebound from a poor 1981 on an awful Angel team, whose 2-run homer tagged Matlack with the 3-2 loss. But also John Adams, who pitched the Brew Crew to victory. IRL, Adams was a 20th-round pick (out of Mississippi) by St. Louis, and progressed up to AA Arkansas. But although he'd had a good half-season there, clearly someone was concerned about his declining strikeout rate and told him to stop nibbling. Whereupon Adams discovered he'd been nibbling for a reason. After a wretched second year, Adams spent the next two seasons (all still in Little Rock) workin his ERA down so he could travel on from the Travellers. But as the strikeouts were on the wane (again) all he got was a "Did you know you're 26?" speech, and perhaps some traveling music. We'll see if his trip to Wisconsin turns out better. |

Just want to let everyone know, in case I didn't already. I currently have access to the Current roster set database. I started going through and updating all of the incorrect Historical minors IDs as it seems this is the database that the facgen pack is being created from. I have been going back and fixing the files based on the correct IDs in the historical database (If you started a historical game from any year, this is the DB you would be using) starting a standard (current) game and showing all retired players, you are seeing the incorrect IDs that I am working on)
There are so many IDs that have to be fixed. I've spent a couple of hours each of the last 3 days or so and I am still only on the C last names.

John Adams
Amazin', here's John Adams. I did a version with a texture pack to eliminate the smile but, in the end, I kept the big smile for better or worse. He honestly just can't believe the Brewers gave him the ball...

Joe H Coleman
Coming to the Detroit Tigers as a key part of the blockbuster Denny McLain trade in 1971, the fiery Joe Coleman was an outstanding pitcher in the Motor City, winning 62 games over a three-year span and logging over 280 innings for four consecutive years from 1971 to 1974. He worked quickly on the mound, limiting his pitches to a few seconds apart, with a live fastball being his main calling card. Coleman played fifteen seasons in the big leagues, twice winning twenty games and three times striking out more than 200 batters for the Tigers during his five-year tenure. - bRef Bullpen wiki
I had made the facegen for Joe last year, luckymann, so no "before" picture. |

Bernie Allen
Former Purdue quarterback, Bernie Allen, became a Twin as a direct result of the graciousness of Minnesota Gopher fans after he handed them an upset loss. As he recalled years later, “After the game at Minnesota, as we made our way out of the locker room and onto the bus, the Minnesota fans came up and congratulated us on how well we had played. I remembered those gracious fans a few months later when I was trying to decide whom to sign with. It came down to the Twins and the New York Mets. I took half as much money to sign with the Twins."
He played well for the Twins but suffered a serious injury in 1964 in a play where Don Zimmer cross-checked him at second base. Still hurt, he played only 19 games for the 1965 Twins. Much to Allen’s disappointment, he failed to receive a World Series ring. “I got seven-eighths of a share [of the Series winnings], but I didn’t get a ring. That’s what I really wanted. Mudcat Grant, Jim Kaat, and others went to the front office on my behalf. I’ve never forgotten that slight." - SABR Made this facegen last year so no "before" facegen to compare it to Last edited by LansdowneSt; 08-31-2021 at 12:01 AM. Reason: added the SABR attribution |

Snipe Hansen
In 1927, the Chicago Cubs signed local sandlot hurler Roy Hansen. Skipper Joe McCarthy thought highly enough of the 20-year-old to extend him an invitation to spring training for the first of three successive years. Hansen was surely overwhelmed by the team’s picturesque training facility ... as well as practicing with established players like Charlie Grimm, Gabby Hartnett, and Hack Wilson. It was there that Hansen acquired his moniker, Snipe. A group of veterans sent the green recruit players to a canyon to collect “snipes.” While the other prospects returned to camp and the dining hall, Hansen apparently kept looking for the mythical creatures and arrived back at the hotel in the early evening. His teammates henceforth called him Snipe, as did the sportswriters, for the rest of his career. He went 22-45 in parts of five big-league seasons. - SABR
Redid the facegen. Often, the picture's angle requires me to straighten the nose, but in this case, Snipe's twisted nose is what it is. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 08-31-2021 at 12:01 AM. Reason: added the SABR attribution |

Joe Verbanic
The Phillies traded a young Joe Verbanic to the Yankees before the 1967 season. He finished the year 4–3 and two saves, and a 2.80 earned run average, in 28 games and had another fine year in 1968 working in 40 games (29 in relief). The arm trouble came in 1969 and after a brief return in 1970, Joe's MLB career ended.
There is but a single picture of Joe not smiling and I used that one for the facegen. |

Tons, and tons of files though, which is awesome, but makes it tricky to do one at a time. Tried to search online for a simple way to batch copy/paste, and couldn't figure it out. Thanks for everyone's efforts on this. It's truly astounding. |

If you start at the beginning file you want and click it (so it is highlighted/selected) while holding down SHIFT then scroll up/down to where you want the "grab" to end and then click that ending file (remember you are still holding down the SHIFT button) - it will select every file in-between. Let go of SHIFT and all the files should be selected to be dragged or copied and pasted. CTRL works the same way but lets you grab non consecutive files as you go, then when all are selected (hold CTRL the whole time), let go and they are all highlighted. Sorry, if that's not what you meant.

Playing my '71 Twins game I see Tom Hall was not right in the historical file. Listed as white instead of black. Made this gen in the free app. Not ideal but better than the historical white face I had
![]() Baseball Ref pic and OOTP bb card. Maybe Silvam already has Tom fixed in his file? Or mine can be done properly here by one of the master creators. Thanks ![]() |

So I changed him to African and went in to manually load Tom's fg file. I found the correctly named file but that loaded the same white face I already had. Not saying something didn't happen on my end to overwrite the file accidentally but, not sure how or when it could have happened? Any way figured it best to report it here for others to check on ![]() |

Do these take effect upon opening the same game you've been playing? In other words, starting up the game, or do I have to do something else to get them to update? It seems like some have updated to v2.2, and some haven't i.e. Had to manually auto-reload Roberto Alomar's picture to get Fancy's new version (which is awesome BTW). Even after I did a Force/Update, Dave Parker's new (and better) version had to be Auto-Reloaded.

Action, it's the option under "Force Update" called "Generate New Player Pictures". It will wipe out and redo all the "fake" or game-generated ones for missing facegens (so beware if that's an issue for you).... but it is also the one that truly compels the game to check each file and thus updates the ones that the game thinks it already has.
