I don't know what policy you are referring to. But I thought the ref in that game was great, and wish he had reffed the 3 American games.

THe policy is that for this tournament they only allow one referee from each nation. Basically it sucks because if the top ten refs in the world came from Samoa, only one would be allowed to the tournament and so less qualified refs would be invited instead

Good point Jax, I think what helped that game and can't think where the ref was from but he did speak Spanish so both Argentina and Mexico players could understand him plus he could understand them. I think all referees specially international refs should at least have a basic knowledge of languages of teams their refereeing even if it's only a handful of words like "calm down" or "be patient" stuff like that.

I disagree. ANy open, flowing game needs rules tlike that... Rugby is the same... tackled ball rule in Rugby is always debated.

It's not like Baseball which is quite a closed game and so the rules can be more precise

I can handle that, because I actually know of 2 players on the England team and that is probably what I know about the rest of the World Cup teams combined.
