Okay, have it your way this time around for the IPA playoffs. However, I've been able to change potential first-round matchups prior to their first games in at least one dynasty, whether or not it was or is a test dynasty before, with no apparent negative effects, if memory serves me correctly enough here. What do you think of my idea of strategy related to team construction and all, or league settings that I mentioned in my response to what jg2977 said here? Just wondering, that's all. What kinds of teams do you like the best, in terms of how they're constructed and all, in that thought-vein? Would really like to know, if I can, I think. CD out.

CD, I just create a league and watch it play out... I never play the role of general manager... so I am not into creating a team strategy... I play a simple league with no financials.... but I do try to control the statistical output to match 1950s baseball... I also create my own free agents because the annual draft is very poor in player quality... when I let the AI create the free agents, I had very few quality rookies each year... I have pretty much solved that now.

As far as reworking the playoff schedule, are you absolutely positive you can change the playoff schedule after it has been created?

I just don't want to run the risk of messing up my IPA league... I've had several close calls recently... and lost the North Island and South Island Leagues.

I'll get back to you, but I believe if you go back to regular-season mode, then it resets things, if you do it in time. I'll test it with my most recent dynasty I'm starting up, at least as a test one, if not a permanent one, and then get back to you. I know how much your IPA means to you and others, so I will definitely try and find out for sure one way or another just as soon as I possibly can. In the meantime, if you haven't already, I suggest you backup your league after this season's postseason, and after every future season ends. IF what I find out is definitely possible, and won't potentially damage your league, to the best of anyone's knowledge, even the developers, for instance, then perhaps you can do as I am thinking as may be possible for next season's postseason and all, et cetera.

I know a bit more about computers, I believe, than you, but I am still definitely not a computer expert, as one might perhaps think of anyone possibly being computer experts. There's still a lot that I don't know about computers, and that I'll never know, for sure. Just so you know, so I can sympathize at least somewhat with you as far as knowing how to do certain things on them easily enough, EC.

It must have been a much simpler time, in many ways, when there weren't computers everywhere, and all. You didn't quite have the 24/7 news cycle like we do now, for instance, and so many other things that are far too commonplace nowadays. I won't get into specifics here, but I will say that I hate many of the things that have happened since we were both young kids, many not for the better of society and culture and all, for sure.

Really hoping to be able to do some more writing today before a virtual Bible study in a virtual realm tonight, to be sure, most likely for Lighting Up the Darkness, if at all possible, somehow. EC, You asked me if I was certain the first-round playoff matchups could potentially be changeable once scheduled, and I believe they can be, at least as long as they hadn't been begun. But let me confirm that, as soon as possible, if others don't, so we all can be absolutely certain whether or not such is possible for people to do in their leagues. I've tried setting up the playoffs before so that the fourth seed in one subleague meets the first seed in the other subleague, et cetera, in the first round of the playoffs. Then I've adjusted the matchups as needed, in at least one dynasty before. Don't know if that would help raise the excitement level for IPA-related playoff matchups in the future, but that is an idea you may want to consider, at some point, EC. Yes, I saw your question... but I just report on what results I get from the games that are played... sorry, CD, I just don't have any interest in discussing games involving hypothetical seeds... I don't use seeding yet... probably will next year.

I definitely agree with seeding the teams from best record to worst record, but I don't like the Tycobbian #1 seed matching up against the Ruthlandian #4 seed in the first round. What's the point of leagues then? If that's the case then just line up all the teams and only have one subleague and no divisions.

Well, for some leagues it might make things at least a bit more interesting, like if you want to have different first-round matchups at times for variety's sake and all. Not saying anyone has to do that, of course. But I'm still reasonably certain some people may have likely thought of setting up their playoffs in their leagues like that before I ever did, somehow. Doesn't necessarily mean that there'd be interleague play outside of an All-Star Game-type thing prior to the postseason, though, for sure.

For example, say you had the National League in one division of a subleague and the American, Federal, or Continental League in the other division of the same subleague, with the other two leagues as divisions of the other subleague during a particular season. Depending on how you chose to set up your playoffs, you could potentially vary the World Series matchups depending on who won the subleague-related pennants. So that the final matchups wouldn't always be the usual NL-AL matchups we've seen many times before in the past.

This sort of thing could work with or without association playoffs, as well, jg2977, it seems, from what I've been able to gather, if properly done sufficiently well. I've been considering some possible ideas related to various leagues in at least one, if not more, of my current, if not also potentially future, dynasties, in fact. Not saying I'll ultimately go that particular route in any of them that may now exist or may later exist, but I've definitely done so in at least one, if not more than one, of my still-recent test-related dynasties, in any case.

Chapter 13 of Lighting Up the Darkness may now be done, at least in a first-draft status, but not entirely sure about that yet. Whether or not that's the case here for me, it sure took quite a while to work on, for various reasons. I hope it is done well enough in such a status, though. For it was a real bear to work on, so to speak.

I may do more graphics, or post more to my dynasty threads soon, if I'm not working on any of my other writing projects in the meantime, while I plan out the events of chapter 14 of that story of mine. I don't plan to take more than a few days, at most, though, to begin writing chapter 14, because I'd really like to get the whole manuscript's first draft completed by December, if at all possible, in truth.

I've probably still got at least another 150 to 200 pages to write for the story in question, and twelve more chapters to write for it, I figure. So I might be spending a lot of time between now and then working on the story, in truth. Especially since I may very well be considerably behind on my planned work schedule for it, due to the major problems I was dealing with while working on this latest chapter, I think.

I have about 22 or so weeks left before then, and a dozen planned chapters yet to write for it, it seems. However, once I get past the chapter with the climax present in it, hopefully it will allow me to shorten the remaining chapters' average lengths considerably, somehow, although the chapter with the final battle will probably be considerably long, in comparison to the other chapters in the story's third part.

Will keep you all posted on relevant developments for graphics and/or my story as I can and all. But right now, I don't plan to write another word for the story, or at least not much more for it, for at least 24 to 48 hours, if I don't absolutely have to. However, I'll most likely need to continue work on the story within the next 72 to 96 hours, if I'm going to meet my aforementioned original planned deadline for completion of its entire first draft, of course.

Chapter 14 is now in the process of being written, but it still may be a while yet before I complete it. In the meantime, I have added a few potential items for the Duluth Heralds to another one of my request threads, in hopes that someone might be able to perhaps improve them, or get inspired by them, in order to fill the related team's part of the relevant graphics request. If anyone feels up to it, please feel free to see what you can do for any of the three remaining teams that may need to have some graphics done for them as appropriate for said request thread. Duluth just needs one or two logos, and I have made some prospective items for a 19th Century take on the Kenosha Comets and South Bend Blue Sox, but not satisfied with those items I just made for them. Hopefully someone can do better on certain necessary items for the Comets and Blue Sox than I have so far here. CD out.

My parents have their own personal health issues from time to time, of course, seeing as they're somewhat close in age to you, but not quite as old as you. However, God has seen fit to keep them still here in our world, fortunately, in truth. I hope that continues for some time yet, obviously. But most likely, they'll both leave this dying and broken world in the future through death instead of translation. Possibly even within the next decade, if not even sooner, in either or both cases, considering their current health issues, which I won't get into considerable degree here and now. Mom's certainly had a couple of close calls in the still fairly-recent past, it seems to me, but fortunately, she's still here, just the same. All thanks and praise to God for the fact that she's still here, of course.
