Opening Day 1883
6th April 1883 The fans are looking forward to another strong season by the Baltimore Orioles. The Independent League Assessors are not sure the team will have as strong a season as they did last year as they see them slipping back to third place in the AL. The MLB have decided that after a successful season with 16 teams that they can increase the amount of games played. With this in mind the season is now 98 games long and will runs from early April to late July. The amount of starters allowed has been pegged at 2 for the current season. The Orioles traded 23 year old minor league Catcher Bill Traffley to the Philadelphia Quakers in exchange for 27 year old Pitcher George Knight. The team also traded 22 year old Centre Fielder Gracie Pierce to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in exchange for 26 year old Pitcher Terry Larkin. The team have been on a tough pre season workout regime and this has allowed the GM and Manager to pick the following 25 players as the opening day roster. Pitching Batting |

The MLB have decided that after a successful season with 16 teams that they can increase the amount of games played. With this in mind the season is now 98 games long and will runs from early April to late July. The amount of starters allowed has been pegged at 2 for the current season. Opening Day 1883
6th April 1883 After what can only be described as a humbling first season the fans of the St Louis Browns are just hoping to see some improvement from their team. They are not hopeful of this though as the pitcher situation has not yet improved. The independent league assessors also feel that the pitching situation will let the team down unless they find more pitchers. They see the team finishing in last place in the NL. The MLB have decided that after a successful season with 16 teams that they can increase the amount of games played. With this in mind the season is now 98 games long and will runs from early April to late July. The amount of starters allowed has been pegged at 2 for the current season. April 1883
1st May 1883 The Orioles defence of their MLB title has not started well as they played out a below average month for their fans. The team managed to pick up 11 wins from the 24 games played in April. This has left them in 6th place in the AL table, 8 games behind the leaders. Their fans will hope for some improvement next month to move up the table. The team started the season by going 3-1 on the road to the Detroit Wolverines before losing theior first home series 1-2 to the Cleveland Blues. This was followed up by a 3-1 home series win against the Chicago White Sox before they lost on the road 1-2 against the Louisville Eclipse. The team were then swept 0-3 by the Philadelphia Athletics at home before getting a 2-1 home series win against the Boston Americans. The final full series of the month saw the team again swept 0-3, this time by the Washington Nationals. They finished the month with a win in the first game of a home series against the Detroit Wolverines. The team had a big blow to their chances of a second title as they lost First Baseman Dan Brouthers to a Strained Oblique that is keeping him out of the game for 6 weeks. The squad saw a very large exodus of players due to wivers as other teams stocked up on Baltimore Players. The team lost Pitchers Tom Poorman, Pidgey Morgan and Terry Larkin to the Boston Americans, Pitchers Hugh O'Neil, Ed Stratton and Cy Bentley to the St Louis Browns and Catcher Tim McGinley to the Washington Nationals The Baltimore player to produce the best performance over the month of April was Second Baseman Fred Pfeffer. Pfeffer started 23 games and picked up 40 hits from 101 at bats. This led to him scoring 19 runs with 17 RBI's for an average of .396 on the month. The AL voters were impressed enough by these figures to award him the AL Batter of the Month award. Pitching Batting |

April 1883
1st May 1883 The fans of the Americans have had an average start to the season to cheer from their team. The team managed to pick up 12 wins and 12 losses during April. This has moved them into the joint 4th spot in the AL table, 7 games behind the leaders. The fans are hoping the teams form will go up rather than down from this average start. The team started the month by sharing a 4 games home series against the Washington Nationals 2-2. They then managed to pick up a 2-1 road trip win against the Louisville Eclipse before again sharing a 4 game home series 2-2, this time against the Detroit Wolverines. The team were swept 0-3 by the Philadelphia Athletics on the road before bagging another 2-1 home series win, this time against the Cleveland Blues. The road trip to the Baltimore Orioles was lost 1-2 before the next home series to the Chicago White Sox was won 2-1. The final game of the month saw the team win the first game of a road trip to the Washington Nationals. The team suffered a setback to their season as Catcher Jackie Hayes was ruled out for 2 weeks with a Strained Oblique towards the end of the month.
