Many apologies for the double post UKHS. I must have missed it whilst I got the article.

Can't believe Bayern fired Magath
Won the double his two seasons in charge and is making a fine CL run this season

There was also a lot of crowd trouble in the Palermo [home] vs West Ham [away] match at the beginning of the season. Read a few threads on Hammers forums about it, people saying there were organised groups waiting for them, police took fans to 'safety' and more Palermo fans were waiting at the drop-off points. Don't know all the details, but I'm pretty sure the Brits still got the rough end of the PR stick [typically].

Different outlooks though, about 99% of the teams in the world would be happy with 4th place but some teams it's a failure if your not 1st.

Congrats on your up coming 3,000

Still violence in England but nowhere near what it used to be like and def not like it is in some places in Europe which doesn't get many column inches and also doesn't cross the wrath of UEFA infact they seem to be softer on punishment than they've ever been.

Just amazes me this happens in Europe and pretty much nothing ever happens, on the otherhand England who have a pretty good reputation at the moment get threatened by FIFA and UEFA with being thrown out of tournaments if there's any trouble.

I really liked Magath and thought his style was perfect for Bayern.
I expect he will surface somewhere big down the line.

He also speaks perfect English so a job in England or America could be down the line.

I was looking at the premiership and seeing who could be the next manager in Englands top league to get fired and to be honest can't think of one who's under pressure.

Man Utd - Ferguson - Be a massive shock if he get's fired.
Chelsea- Mourinho - More chance of him walking rather than getting fired.
Liverpool - Benitez - Maybe the one most under pressure of the big 4 but still safe for another 2 seasons at least.
Arsenal - Wenger - Job is more secure than Fort Knox.

Bolton - Allardyce - He'd have to get caught with the Chairman's wife AND daughter to get fired.
Portsmouth - Redknapp - Safe for a couple of seasons but with the money the owner is pumping in he may want a return on his money in a couple of season's.
Reading - Coppell - Has them punching above their weight so no way is he getting fired.
Everton - Moyes - Maybe start getting put under pressure next season if they don't qualify for Europe but should be safe this season.

Newcastle United - Roeder - Another who should be safe this season but maybe under pressure next season specially from fans wanting Shearer as manager. (if he leaves Wigan Athletic lol)
Tottenham - Jol - Took a step back this season and may come under pressure next season if they don't challenge the big 4 after the money they have spent.
Middlesbrough - Southgate - With the work they put in to have him as their manager because he doesn't have the qualifications he's safe for at least another season.
Blackburn - Hughes - Another one who is pretty safe unless they slip into the relegation zone early next season.

Man City - Pearce - I'd probably put him as favourite to get the sack but think he would walk before it would get to that stage, safe for this season though.
Aston Villa - O'Neill - Can't see him getting fired this season and probably safe for next season but will have to do better to be at Villa for a third term.
Fulham - Coleman - Second favourite to get the sack imo but best take them into the top half for next season or he could be gone.
Sheff Utd - Warnock - Even though near the drop zone just can't see him getting fired even if they get relegated.

Wigan - Jewell - Can't see him getting fired as the chairman loves him but fans are getting disgruntled about the way he's managing at the moment so could walk before he is pushed.
West Ham - Curbishley - Hope he get's fired as he's a backstabber in my eyes but can't see it happening just yet.
Charlton - Pardew - Got them playing better and even if they go down can't see him being fired.
Watford - Boothroyd - Another manager who if his team goes down will still be their manager next season.

Why did Hitzfeld leave Bayern in the first place? He took them to the CL title as well as winning multiple league championships ...

He's actually just taken over the job again lol his contract is only until the end of the season by all accounts so just have to see who takes over the hot seat next season.

This is what wiki had to say.

In the season 2002-03 Bayern once more dominated German football and winning the double, but the team again performed less than artfully. When this was followed by a season of even less impressive football, with no title to boot, the club renounced the remaining year of the contract of the 55 year old coach.

Quote:
On 31 January 2007, Hitzfeld was announced as the Bayern Munich coach, replacing the sacked Felix Magath. He signed a new contract, valid until the end of the season.

MLS/Primera officially announce the SuperLiga. Its nice to have it starting out, but I hope they're planning on making this semi-season long with hopefully 12/16 teams in the future. Hopefully they'll have games being played during the week along with MLS games and the usual weekend fixtures as I was led to believe earlier.
Nice, that means Beckham's first trip to FC Dallas will be July 31st. Can't wait, I know I'll be there for sure for that game of the competition.

As for Europe, I like the additions that Blackburn made for the stretch drive. Dunn will help and glad to see him back. As well, the numerous additions to the defense to fill the whole created by Neill will help provide depth back there.

I think it's a safe assessment that Sir Alex' days in Manchester United are numbered not because his job isn't safe, but every time I see him on the sidelines, he looks more and more tired and worn out.

I think most sensible Newcastle fans don't want Shearer as the next manager, we'd rather he got a couple of years experience in another job, perhaps a lower league team first. A year or two coaching abroad would be nice. Probably not going to happen. Roeder needs to do well in the transfer market this summer or he'll be in trouble with the fans.

Hope we beat Fulham today. Go Obafemi!

I agree and personally think they'd be wrong to do it but unless Roeder gets them into say top 6 next season and brings in a cup other than the Inter Toto I reckon Shearer will be their manager sometime in the 2008/09 season, a team of Newcastle's stature should be going after one of the top managers because they should be challenging for that 4th place at least.

HT Droylsden 1 v 1 Leigh RMI

Karma strikes again as West Ham's Upson taken off after less than 30 minutes and just days after leaving Birmingham and having a moan about them, this is the second of West Hams new signings that have been injured after just minutes playing for them both having tested the God that is named Karma

Serves Curbishley right for being such a prat when he gets some money to spend.
