I think pretty much any match is better than the one that was just played. In terms of entertainment, though, this one can't be beat.

I agree 100% with (presenter) Mark Saggers. "The Portuguese players cheated towards the end. They were a disgrace."

Although the Dutch weren't too much better in all honesty.

I think Mr. Ivanov, you can collect your medal, and get on the plane home.

Paul..please what do you think should be done with this match and all the cards? This could really effect the outcome of the WC.

One note - that fourth red card to van Bronckhorst, means that for the second time today this World Cup sets a disciplinary low point. That was the 23rd red card beating France 1998's dubious mark of 22.

But man, how I loved it. That was so awesome.

I feel sad theasfl for the Dutch going out tonight. They were, literally, mugged by Portugal tonight.

once Figo dove and produced a red for us...all hell broke loose; when the ref is doing his best to prevent you from sustaining an attack I dont really blame them for being frustrated...once the red was out Van Basten couldnt bring on van Nistelrooy which would have helped immensely...assuming he wasn't hurt.

there were so many things wrong with this game it should be replayed as an aggregate match

I don't get how they cheated. If anything, the Dutch started the whole yellowcard spree by breaking the "unsaid rule" of giving the ball back.

Figo's dive is what set it all off

First what will happen - the match has to stand. The only way it couldn't is if the Dutch could somehow prove the referee made illegal errors (like Poll's three yellow cards).

Now my opinion, that you asked for.
Yes it might well have a bearing on the outcome, but if you start allowing replays for one thing, you would start it for others (wrongly disallowed goal for offsides, balls over the line, incorrectly awarded penalties).

my new desired final...

Italy vs Spain

Id ordinarily root for the English, but they've been attrocious. After the last game I cant root for Portugal and with their red cards it wouldn't be worth it. Brazil hasn't lived up to the hype and I don't want them to win back to back regardless. Argentina I hate, though its wearing off. I don't want to root for the homeside after the last world cup so Germany's out, and I don't see the Ukraine, Switzerland, or Ghana as viable contenders for the title.

of course having said this France will win two days from now.
